HT1349 Why won't "show duplicates" show up in either my File or Edit menus? And, why does my entire library keep getting duplicated?

I have a new computer and I'm trying to reload my library and my playlists. I also have a new iPhone 5 and I'm trying to load that too. I'm getting duplicates of everything in my library. When I try to find the "show duplicates" tab in my File menu and/or my Edit menu it isn't there. Any ideas? Thanks!

Yes, it has always worked in the past. The past projects audio clips do not change names. I obviously did something different in this current project, but unfortunately I have no idea what.

Thanks for you reply, she already has her own account and wants to back her own contacts up to the cloud, we have tried turning both contacts off in icloud settings, also deleting from phone when prompted, then, we also deleted all her icloud backups to start a fresh. However soon as she turns contacts back on.. Bam they re appear. We also have ipad in the mix so we did the same to that, turned off and deleted contacts on there also to no avail. Somehow they are linked to my acount just cant work out how or where?

Why does my Infinity date keep getting put back

Hi I am wondering if somebody can tell me why my Infinity due date kees getting put back. I was originally told it would be in my area last year, then by Sept 2013, then the end of the year, then Feb/Mar 2014 then The end of Mar then low and behold today it is beween Mar to June 2014.
I can understand some delays but the variation of these dates is ridiculous I feel BT are picking dates out of the air to stop customers moving elswhere. I am relly fed up waiting and being strung along with ficticious dates and promises.
I have seen engineers working in the Bt boxes in my area for many months.
As for signing up for information on Infinity from BT that is a Joke I signed up for that 2 years ag and have so far had not one single bit of information of any kind from them. I would have expected some feedback on how well the roll out is going etc to encourage potential customers of the benefits etc. very very poor customer service on this front I feel

This is a BT Retail residential customer to customer forum. The problem of dates changing is an Openreach responsibility and not BT Retail.
There are various reasons for this to happen such as planning permission for cabinets, power supplies and commercial reasons.
Up until recently you could email Openreach and ask when your cabinet was likely to be upgraded however Openreach are no longer giving out that information, instead they are replying:-

If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? When I start going onto the internet page the page comes on then as I amreading it it goes to black and back to the home page for the iphone.

Mine does that too. I was wondering if it was due to the OS and that sometimes its too much for the 3GS. I've had mine almost 3 years. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will help. :)

Why does Clip Split menu keep getting disabled?

I'm in the multitrack editor with a single mono track of voiceover where I'm assembling a complete take of the script.
So it seems that the clip doesn't need to be selected for the Clip > Split (Cmd-K) to work. So I'll happily be scrubbing, zooming and locating a split point, press Cmd-K and sometimes it splits the clip sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, I go to the Clip menu and see that the Split menu is greyed out. But why!?
Anyone else seen this?

Thanks Durin. I've just had another look at this and it seems to be a bug caused by using Ripple Delete.
Place a clip that's 60 secs or longer on track 1 of multitrack session.
Move to 30 secs and split the clip at the playhead.
Move to 40 secs and split the clip at the playhead.
Select the new clip created between 30/40 secs and press Shift-Delete to do a ripple delete on the clip.
No clips remain selected however...
If the playhead is positioned after the 30 sec edit point then the Clip > Split menu is available.
If the playhead is positioned before the 30 sec edit point then the Clip > Split menu is unavailable.

Why does my popup blocker keep getting turned off?

No matter how many times I try - my popup blocker gets turned off the next time I start Firefox.
I've got a current version of Norton running - so I assume there is no known trojan or virus on the machine.
Any ideas?

Why does my iPhoto library keep losing thumbnails?

I own an external Hard Drive containing my photographs and in the past 2 weeks, my iPhoto thinks it's a good idea to lose all of my thumbnails for my photographs.
When it tries to rebuild itself, nothing happens and remains the same and when I do it myself it's the same thing with no result. Had to create a new library but lost all of my photographs and when I redirected to my original library all photo's appeared!
Thought it was my hard drive but it seems to be working fine as my music library is on there too and seems to be working fine?
Is this an issue synonymous with iPhoto and has anyone experienced this. As a freelance photographer, this is rather annoying!

The Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Just to let you know, my iPhoto Library did the same thing again where all thumbnails were missing. When I select an album to view, the pictures appears as cut outs similar to when first importing.
To resolve this I had to select another Library I had setup then re-select my original library where all of my photographs appeared.
Really not liking this system as I'm worried it may cost me money in losing the work of my clients. Appreciate your words of wisdom and advice; one and all.

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

Unfortunately, in your case, there isn't really a way to separate them as far as I can think.
You could try restoring from a backup, and choosing an older backup perhaps

If by "map" you mean directory or folder, in the Library menu there is a toggle for "show photos in subfolders".
