HT1349 Won't sign in imessages

It won't sign in with my username to iMessages, Help! It doesn't even try to verify it anymore.

Try signing out of Messages and then sign back in again.
Settings>Messages>Tap on your ID in the "receive messages at>tap your ID at the top>Sign out.
Restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • My iPhone 5 won't automatically send iMessages (enabled in settings)

My iPhone 5 won't automatically send iMessages to other peoples' devices who have iMessages enabled, unless they send an iMessage to me first. My phone automatically sends SMS only, and does not automatically detect if other people have iMessage capability. My iPhone 4 on the same apple ID did not have this problem, even after I updated the software to iOS 6.
I have enabled iMessages in my "settings", as well as checked only my phone number in the "receive at". My boyfriend also has an iPhone 5, but he is able to send iMessages to other people who have iMessage.

    Hi Friend,
    * Check in Settings>>Messages>>Send and Receive, if your mobile number or Apple ID is selected at all. In my iPhone 4S for example, I am using my mobile number to send iMessages, instead of Apple ID.
    * Double check in Settings>>General>>Mobile is turn on. If yes, double check in "Mobile Data Network"  (sorry, maybe I wrote down the wrong name because my device is not in English : )) if you have filled the with the network carrier information. If everything are blank, you will not able to send/receive iMessages without WiFi connection.
    * Check also in Settings>>Notifications>>Messages, if "Show iMessage Alerts From" is "All" option selected.
    Good Luck...

    Hi,
You stated earlier that you had already deleted the "madrid" .plist with no effect.
Can I check you did this with the app closed down or at least restarted the app straight afterwards ?
If you did that close the app if open and access the ~/Library/Preferences  folder again.
    This time delete com.apple.imessage.bag.plist
This item stores the Apple server used for your Login to the iMessages server and contains a date/time reference.
Restarting the app after deleting this file will make it reconnect with the iMessages servers in a fresh manner which my solve things.
It may sort out any date/time issues with the stored date.
Messages is one of the app that Apple have "Sandboxed".
This means that some of it's operations are held away from other apps to prevent one app bringing down several others.
This is turn means that the route or path used by the app to Read and Write to the various .plists is different to the direct placing in ~/Library/Preferences.
    The Path is ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Preferences
Mostly the items in here are then Aliases that point to the actual originals in ~/Library/Preferences.  However there are exceptions.
You can copy and paste the Path above in to the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder dialogue box to access this folder.
Once there use the Finder's View Menu > Show Path Bar.
This adds a collection of folders across the bottom of the Finder window.
Right click on the Preferences folder at the right hand list of the Path.
    Chose the Get Info option.
In the Info panel scroll to the Bottom.
Your Shortname should appear (with (Me) as well) and you should have Read and Write Permissions
If you highlight this and then use the Cogwheel type iCon it should reveal you shortname again but in Greyed out form which mean you Own the File/folder
Repeat this for each containing folder until the Library item on the left (you don't need to do the Little House  icon one)
You should have Read an Write Permissions and Own all of them.
    Can you confirm this ?

  • Having trouble signing into Imessage?

If you have tried all the tips from other users try going into your date and time settings and checking the box to set time date/time automatically.  This worked for me and a couple others as well.

    Hello Diane Smiley,
The steps detailed below can help resolve this error and get your signed into iMessage.
If you see "Could not sign in, please check your network connection and try again" when signing in to your Apple ID
To resolve this issue, follow these steps.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you have a data connection by going to www.apple.com in Safari. You can complete Apple ID activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. If you need help connecting to Wi-Fi, follow these steps.
If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure that your local Wi-Fi network is using the recommended Wi-Fi settings.
Sign in to your account and ensure that the primary email address and alternate e-mail addresses have been verified. If verification is pending, follow the instructions in the email Apple sent to that email address to complete verification. Or remove the e-mail addresses from the account.
If your Apple ID isn't an email address, you can change it. The Apple ID that you're using to activate FaceTime or iMessage must be an email address. Find more information on how to change your Apple ID.
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure that your iPhone is set to the correct time zone. If Set Automatically is on but the wrong time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to a different Wi-Fi network (in a different location) if a cellular data connection is not available.

    Hi,
If the machine is brand new I don't see why the serial Number is missing (it is entered on to a special chip at the factory)
However if the machine is a return and has been refurbished then the Logic/mother board may have been changed and someone forgot to put the info back to the new board.

  • Apple id username or password incorrect when trying to sign into imessage

Everytime I try to sign into my imessage account the message comes up saying that my Apple ID username or password is incorrect. This only started a short time ago, my ipad's imessage had been working perfectly fine for six months before that with the same account, and the problem arose when I restarted my ipad one day.
My apple ID works perfectly fine on facetime and itunes still, and I can sign into imessage with the same account on my iphone 4's imessage.
I have tried making several new accounts and signing in with them but that doesnt work aswell.

I am trying to sign into iMessage. Error--Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.

    Any other thoughts, mario49?
I've no trouble connecting to or using iMessage on my iPhone or my iPad; and no trouble accessing iTunes, the iTunes Store, the (iOS) App Store from my iOS devices, the (OS X) App Store from my MBP.  So, my Apple ID is still functioning just fine, thank you very much and my network connection is not an issue.
My hosts file has not been tampered with, and I'm not blocked by any firewalls--the failures occur where ever I am.
This issue has been happening only for the last 2 days, but I'm completely locked out of Messages from my MBP.
    So, what's the deal?

  • IMessage on ML - "Could not sign into iMessage. Please check network settings and try again"

i came across an issue when signing into iMessage with an Apple ID on Mac.
i had been experiencing the "Could not sign into iMessage. Please check network setting and try again" error for iMessage issue since installing Mountain Lion. i finally solved my problem after talking to the Apple Tech Support team.
    Here's the steps:
    1. Shut down laptop.
    2. Switch on laptop again. immediately hold down the left "SHIFT" key until u get into the log in screen. By doing this, ur laptop will be in "Safe Boot" mode.
    3. Sign into iMessage using Apple ID. (i was able to sign into iMessage for the first time on my Mac since getting ML)
    4. Shut down laptop again.
    5. This time switch laptop on normally.
    6. You should be able to use iMessage normally.
in addition, make sure the boxes for date & time and timezone are ticked to be set automatically.
Hope this is helpful for users experiencing the same issue i had. it did for me!
    Cheers

    Okay,
let me add my story to this thread.
Brand spanking MBA, Mountain Lion.......logged into Imessage 1st thing, no prob.
Then, after a few weeks; in the middle of a chat....the name of the other person turned red and my sent messages received a red dot as they were not sent. I checked with the other person.
I couldn`t recieive any messages either, not from any contact.
I logged out, and I couldn`t log in anymore.
I get a yellow triangle saying something like "error while logging in, try again later".
I tried again and again later........
I seeked help on this forum and a user helped me initially.
I re-installed the whole Mountain Lion, a process that I don`t care to repeat too often.
That fixed it for a while, but yesterday the same thing happened.
In the middle of a chat....the red name, the red dots......well, you get the picture.
    I tried, to no avail:
    # to log in after reseting the PRAM
    # boot up and log in whilst in SAVE mode. It will NOT log in, same problem
    # to log in after deleting all Imessages and Facetime files in Library/Preferences
    # to log in with my wife`s Apple ID, or any ID really.
What did work was logging in with my ID on my wife`s Ipad, no worries.
My account is Yahoo, and don`t seem to be the problem.
    Please, any suggestions welcome.
I have urged Apple politley to give us a fix at:

  • Trying to sign into iMessage on my macbook pro is says to check my network connection.  What do I need to do?

What do I need to do to be able to sign into imessage without getting the error to check my network connection?

    Hi,
The DNS server needs an external one listed.
You should be able to access your router and it in turn should show you the ones it can "see" at the ISP end.
You can either list these or add Public ones
Some IP address are reserved for LAN networks.
These include IP starting 192.168.x.x which means you would have to have  DNS database on the device that is at the 192 address.
This can mean you computer cannot resolve where the server it needs is.
The most a local device might be doing is listing the local devices and their IPs
    Mac User Login.
In System Preferences > User and Groups you will see a list of all the accounts created on your Mac.
This may only be one or you may have other people you have set up accounts for.
Some people Enable the Guest account and use that for testing.
AS you can see from the pic I created and Account called "Test Account".
I Log out of "Ralph" and  into the test one to actually different things now and then.
I and suggesting you create an account if you have not already done so and use the same Apple ID to set up Messages there.
This stores it's own set of .plists and the Keychain item needed.
If the app works here then it will be something within the .plists or Keychain for your normal login (mac User account) or the app will not work there either in which case a Restore of some kind will be the best option.
