HT1351 Loading large video files onto Ipod Touch

My 1st Generation Ipod touch does not allow me to load large size videos. Even files greater than 40 MB cannot be loaded.
Is there a restriction on the file size ?
Can you please help ?
Regards,
Sarwottam

I have found the "Sync" settings from within iTunes. The default setting for "Sync Movies" is set to disabled. Thanks for the help - The device settings were being hidden by an "Apple commercial" for the version 3.0 software upgrade - once I clicked on "Remind Me Later" I was able to see the 8 tabbed configuration screen. I guess marketing trumps usability.
For anyone else who wants to load videos to an iPod: the output from Compressor is fine, and there is no need to do any other conversion.
Thanks again

so i lost the file. is there any way to recover the video.
i did'nt make any activity with ipod senice the file deleted.
    please help me

My daughter accidentally deleted a video that I captured with my iPod Touch 4G. Fortunately between the time I took the video and the time she deleted it, I had connected my iPod to my computer (but had not imported the video).
However, when you connect the iPod, it does an automatic back-up and back up video and photo files as well.
To recover it, I had to explore the back-up created the last time I connected my iPod using this tool:

    Worked great.

  • How do I repeat loop a video file from iPod Touch to Apple TV ?

I have an iPod Touch that is a few years old but running the latest software update.  I want to loop a video to then play through Apple TV onto 2 panels at the front of our shop.  I have saved the file as a video and Music Video (using Get Info etc) but neither version in the iPod touch will supply the repeat function - it works fine from my MacBook Pro but I cannot leave this in the shop overnight.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated - evern if a third party app that actually works.  Thanks in advance, Shaun.

This worked on older iOSs an may still work

  • Can't get large video file from iPod to Mac

It seems to be working for everything else, but... I shot a 1.9GB video on my new iPod Touch 4G, and it won't import. Both Image Capture and iPhoto throw import errors for that file.
    Any ideas?
It plays back fine on the iPod, and the smaller files I've shot on it have imported just fine.

I have the same problem on windows... Recorded a 12 min vid & i can't import it to my deskop. I did a test with another 12 min vid & i got the same problem

  • Loading winRAR music files onto ipod

i ve moved songs from winRAR file to itunes but when i try to load on to ipod it tells me file cant be found and i get ! next to each song.any help appreciated.

RAR is a format for an archive containing multiple individual files. Is that what you have? Use WinRAR to unpack the archive, and make sure you can see the individual files. Add the files to your iTunes library. Then sync your iPod.
Needless to say, this will work only if the contained files are compatiblw with iTunes.

  • Fitting larger video files onto DVDs?

I'm working on a project, videos + stills but mostly videos from a week's holiday (in Wales -- beautiful country, by the way, great people, great food and beer -- highly recommended!  And of course great scenery with the little mountain railways, including one to the top of Mount Snowdon, but I digress, sorry).
The finished project will be about 1½ hrs long, but so far I have a completed video (.m2t) for each of 4 days, with the following sizes:- 1.26  4.50  4.66  2.98  = 13.4GB
Originally I'd been wildly optimistic and hoped to fit the whole week onto 1 DVD, clearly impossible without destroying the quality.   I do have a Bluray player and my pc can also record Bluray, but I don't want to use this as the people I'd like to send copies to don't have Bluray players.
Will I then have to accept that I'll have to make separate DVDs for the larger movies, ie the 4+ GB ones?   It's no big deal, and in fact will save me having to learn and practise making menus (lazy! only kidding).
I've seen on the web software for 'shrinking' videos to size to fit DVDs but they probably ruin the quality?
    Thanks for help with this.

    Good morning.
Are you saying that your burner does not burn Blu-ray or are you saying that Premiere Elements burn to is not recognizing your Blu-ray DVD CD burner? I think you said burner is not spec'd for Blu-ray, but just wanted to make sure.
Premiere Elements does not have a burn to folder for Blu-ray, but what you might consider:
    a. Burn to Folder for Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD with Presets = H.264 1920 x 1080i Dolby DVD
    b. Take the BDMV Folder from that and put it on a Blu-ray disc with a program such as ImgBurn.
We could also think about the Phantom burner Premiere Elements combo approach to getting a disc image. But we will save that for later. It does work with Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit, but there is a bit of a twist to it.
Best if you have BD-RE so that you can reuse the disc if necessary.
I have one Blu-ray DVD CD burner and its internal type. So, I do not have any first hand information on preferred external ones. When I have looked, the ones I likes were out of my price range (most are). What I once thought about doing was buying an internal one (one of the bargins/sales) and an enclosure and making my own "external" Blu-ray DVD CD burner. That is essentially an easy assembly and nothing high tech.
Whatever you buy, make sure you can return it if Premiere Elements does not recognize it or has other problems with it.

  • Loading a video file from my windows pc to my ipod touch 4

I received an MP4 video file from my daughter in Germany.  How do I transfer this file to my new IPOD Touch 4 so I can show it to people.  The file is loaded on my windows PC running VISTA.  The file is in format MP4.
    Thanks you for any assistance.

    Posted in iPad section.
    Plug the iPod in.
Once it mounts, drag the video file onto the iPod icon in iTunes and release.
If it doesn't transfer-you don't have manually manage music/video turned on.
Either turn it on or import the movie into iTunes.
Add the movie to your sync list, sync the iPod.

  • Need to get all the files, well music and video, from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary.

Need to get all the files, (well music and video), from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary. (So basically sync the other way to normal)
Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!
    Thanks:)
    Chris

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
    Thanks!

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch
