if it is a 2nd gen then yes but a 3rd gen 32gb or higher can go up to ios 5.
im sorry but there is very little apps that support ios 4.2.1

I have just installed the new software update on my iphone 4s soon after it my phone kept turning itself off then it wouldnt come on at all so i connected it to my mac it said my iphone was in recovery mode so needed to install new software.... i waited for 10 mins roughley then at the very end it said cannot install update then it came up with - unknown error code 1600.
Does anyone know if i can fix this from home or do i need to take it into the shop?

I have updated the new software onto my iPhone4; I have backup my data; I am unable to progress any further from the 3 iPhone options - I selected from iTunes b/up; then the iPhone requested that I connect to iTunes which I have done and it has now stalled - nothing has happened.

Hi, thank you for helping me! Every time I plug it into the USB port of my computer, there is an image on my iPod touch that shows a USB cord and tells me to plug it into iTunes, but it is completely unresponsive. I have tried holding the home and power buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds, and that does not do anything either. Any ideas? Thank you so much!
Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?
Try manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then try to restore
Next try DFU mode.

Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard came out in July of 2009 and became obsolete in July of 2011 when 10.7 Lion was introduced. Unlike earlier Operating Systems which were removed from the Apple Store when a new OS came out Apple kept Snow Leopard around for a year until 10.8 Mountain Lion came out. When Mountain Lion came out they removed Snow Leopard and Lion from the online store.
The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard. The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion.
The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list.
If they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.

I have an i-pod touch, bought about 5 years ago. I used it for a bit and then left it unused for about 3 years. I cannot now get it to respond - it seems to have gone to sleep/died. It does light up with the apple icon and the 'plugging in' graphic when connected to my PC. When I have tried to unblock/restore it with the i-tunes tool, it goes through the process, but i-tunes eventually tells me that the restore is blocked. This is a shame, as I want to use the i-pad again, but it seems to be dead due to lack of use! Nothing else has happened to it - no bad use, no damage. Help?!

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have an i pod touch and have just recieved an i pod one from a friend. it is at factory settings - but i would like to transfer data from the i touch to the new i pad - can't seem to do that. when i go to i tunes to restore - it just wants to restore the blank i pad. any suggestions? Thanks
You need to backup the Touch to your computer and then Restore from that backup with the iPad. This will only work in the Touch is running 5.1.1 or earlier.

I do shut the I-pod off when it's in the usb. Thanks in advance, PaulIt sounds like it may have been synced to a different computer/itunes library before. To prevent automatic syncing, go to iTunes preferences. In the Device tab chck the box that ways prevent iPods.. from syncing automatically.

Hi, my iPod touch has been unable to sync since downloading the new cloud software. It says: An error occurred while restoring this iPod (-34) So my music is not on it. The apps are still on it. The 4G can not run IOS-7. "6" is the highest that it can go. You need the 5G for IOS-7.
However, that won't affect her ability to use iMessage and FaceTime. -
