HT1353 Ipod won't sync properly and refuses to play certain songs

My Ipod Nano 5th gen won't sync properly and when I choose a song it shows the title of a different song and plays a song different to the song title shown or chosen.

What do you mean it won't sync properly? Do you get any error messages in iTunes?
Have you tried any of the usual 5 R's of troubleshooting yet?

  • HT1351 Songs won't sync properly and I don't know how to fix it. Help!

I keep trying to sync my music to my iPhone but some of the songs aren't uploading properly and when trying to listen to them, my phone will just skip over them and they won't play. When looking at the songs on my playlists they show up as gray and there is a red square with a circle around it like it is syncing. Also iTunes won't sync any of my playlists anymore even though it says, on my iTunes account, that they are uploaded to my phone. What should I do?

I have the same issue: my playlists are not showing up on my iphone. The old playlist are there and the music is there but the playlists will not update. I'm hoping someone has an answer?

  • Ipod failing to sync properly and cover art does not copy

Hello. My ipod wont sync properly, fails after about 10 albums with unknown error -53, and album cover art does not copy (fine in itunes). Have restored etc. Have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes software etc.
Have tried apple support helpline; send ipod off twice, just received replacement new/refurbished ipod today (as on 2nd attempt apple technicians found a problem they called "specific performance symptoms" with the old one).
New replacement one has the same problem as old one!
Has anyone seen this problem or had any joy getting a refund?... Any help much appreciated, thanks.

    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Music tab.
Are you selecting Sync all playlists?
Or if you are choosing Selected p[laylist, mkae sure all the playlists you want to sync are checked.

  • IPod won't sync photos and never stops syncing

60GB iPod Video. I recently updated to software version 1.2. I had tons of trouble with this update, so I did a restore. Now, I'm still running the same version, but at least it doesn't crash when looking at videos or podcasts now. However, after it syncs my music and goes to do photos, it just sits there syncing forever. No photos ever end up on the pod and I just have to eject it when it's time for me to go. I know the 1.2 update ***** baaaad, but does anyone have a workaround for this? Has Apple still not acknowledged tons of problems with the 1.2 update?
    Thanks everyone.

I had the same problem and deleted the casche. All worked ok. Then I had another problem, fixed that. However, my photos won't sync any more It just hangs. I deleted my cashe, but it don't help this time.

  • IPod won't sync - "Itunes could not copy (name of song) to the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-53)"

I recently bought a used iPod Classic (my previous one was stolen). I still had my iTunes library on my computer so I was just going to hook it up and sync my library over, replacing what was on there from the previous user. When I first hooked it up to my computer (Windows 7 64-bit) there was a message saying the drivers were not installed properly. I un-plugged it, and plugged it back in to the same result. I tried 1 more time and didn't get the error message. I then opened iTunes and clicked on the iPod. I checked for updates, then clicked "Restore this iPod". Next, I set it up to sync music, and the sync began. It seemed to work for a while, the "Syncing iPod" message was displayed at the top, and it said it was copying songs over. It did this for about 10 minutes before I finally got the following message:
"Itunes could not copy (name of song) to the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-53)"
After that happens, everything seems to freeze up. iTunes says it's still syncing, but nothing ever seems to happen. If I click the eject button, nothing happens either. I eventually have to just disconnect the iPod. The iPod seems frozen for a while, then it seems to reboot itself (the gray apple window displays), then the interface displays and I can get to the songs on there. But, only a very small portion of my library makes it to the iPod. I've tried several times now and it always seems to be the same songs that DO make it onto the iPod. However, it's a different song listed in the error message each time, so it doesn't seem to be just 1 song causing the problem. Also, once I hook the iPod back to the computer, Windows displays a message prompting me to scan the drive and fix errors. I did it once and it said it found some errors and fixed them.
    I saw this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3924425
and some people were suggesting removing everything from your library then re-adding it, in case the paths were messed up. I tried that and still got the same results. I also updated iTunes to the latest version, and I've tried different USB ports and 2 different USB cables.
I also found instructions for a batch file you can run that, I believe, updates the iTuens DLLs, I did that as well but it did not help: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1539
What else can I try to fix this?

  • ITunes refuses to play certain songs?

I've had some songs in my iTunes library for quite some time but all of a sudden, several tracks (usually in the same album) refuses to play.
When I delete those tracks from the library and try to re-add them, iTunes refuses to add those tracks but the tracks themselves remain playable by other programs (I tried with Windows Media Player).
Does anyone know anything about this?

    Hello.
I am having a similar problem. It's not exactly the same but maybe you can help me either way. I've looked through the forum & this is about as close as I could get.
Okay, I recently purchased a 2nd gen. 16G iPod Touch as an upgrade from my 1st gen. 8G iPod Touch. When I synced it I noticed that certain songs won't play sound on my iPod. They look as if they're playing but no sound comes out. These songs are all authorized on my computer & play fine on my computer. Just not my iPod. These certain songs also played fine on my 1st gen. iPod Touch.
I have tried deauthorizing & reauthorizing and syncing my iPod numerous times. Still nothing. I then completely restored my BRAND NEW iPod and tried re syncing it and it still won't play those songs. I'm not sure if I should try the MP3 Tag Validator as I am not having an issue with the songs playing in iTunes. Plus, I just recently was infected with a rogue software virus and am wary of downloading freeware.
Any other suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it. (:

  • My ipod crashed or skips when playing certain songs

Whenever I use itunes I can play all of my songs, however when I use my ipod nano 5th generation I am unable to play certain songs. When I try to play these songs my ipod either skips over the song or crashes. Both my ipod and itunes are up to date. I have tried doing a restore. I have tried taking off all the songs and reloading them (this just causes a different set of songs to become unplayable). I have also checked all my music files for corruption with software from CNET(they are all fine).
The most common response I've seen to problems similar to mine is this...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA26488
    Nothing on that page works.
    Please help, Thanks.

It's hard to say what cause of error is in particular, without a bit of troubleshooting.  Where were these problem tracks downloaded from?
Have you tried all of the troubleshooting here?
Troubleshooting songs that skip on iP
Again, I"m not really all of this troubleshooting is worth it since as you stated the problem is only apparent on the older iPod Video, which would point to an issue with that device.  You could try and do a disk diagnostic on it to see if there is anything in particular that stands out there.  See this post from another forum member turingtest2 describing how to perform this test and what the numbers mean.

Apple doesn't have a trade in policy, but they do have a recyling program where you can bring your old iPod into be recycled for a 10% discoun towards the purchase of a new one.

  • IPod won't sync and iTunes not accepting authorisation

    Hi
bit of a complicated story (to me anyway).  My computer recently crashed and had to be completely restored, when I got it back and reloaded iTunes (itunes 11) all of my music was still there in the cloud, excellent.  I bought two albums last night from the iTunes Store and they won't sync with my iPod classic.  When I plug it in iTunes recognises it, it connects then ejects without syncing.  When I tried transferring my purchases I get a message to say iTunes is not authorised to play certain songs (not the songs I have just bought) and I need to authorise my computer.  Then a box comes up with an apple ID I have never seen before pretty filled.  I deleted that andout my details in but then I get a message to say my computer is already registered.  I'm on my 4th out of 5 computers so I don't want to start deauthorising and deauthorising unless that's the right thing to do.
Tried resetting etc but doesn't have any effect.  Any ideas?
    THanks

Took the tick out of manually manage itunes and all is well.

  • My ipod won't sync any of the music i downloaded and says that iTunes can't backup the Ipod because a session couldn't be started with the Ipod how do i fix this

My ipod won't sync any thing in my iTunes library it always stop as soon as it starts backingup the Ipod a message appears that says iTunes cannot backup the Ipod "my Ipod" because a session couldn't be started withthe Ipod how do i fix this problem?
This is exactly what the message says: iTunes could not back up the iPod "austins ipod" because a session could not be started with the iPod.

Try connecting your ipod to another computer and sync only 1 file or song just for isolation purpose only to see if it'll sync.
If still not syncing, then porbably you may have a bad iOS installed in iPod which is hard to see if it has a problem because you said nothing's wrong with iPod. I just saying is, it MIGHT have a bad iOS.
If you are unable to do a restore, put your ipod in DFU mode, then connect to iTunes and iTunes will detect your ipod in restore mode. Press shift key (PC keyboard) then click the restore button on iTunes. I hope you have your copy of IPSW file for restoration purposes.

  • I have one of the original IPOD's and just tried adding a bunch of songs, (200) and now that they're on my computer my ipod won't sync as it now says i need about 8.45 more gb. any thoughts on this?

I have one  of the oriignal IPOD's circo 2006.  I've got about 150 tunes on it which has been fine but today tried to add another 200 or so and was advised I need about 848 MB to load them.  Is there any solution.  I have 2 playlists.  One with the original 150 tunes and one with the addiitional 200 tunes. Thoughts as now my IPOD won't sync at all and I don't want to delete any of the songs if I don't have to.

How much storage on the IPOD  -  I have one that has 60GB on it.   Also have an IPOD shuffle that held less songs.
As your IPOD does not have enough storage for all of your songs, you have to create a list to sync to it that does not exceed the storage size.
For instance my IPOD shuffle had its only list of songs that did not exceed storage.
The IPOD gets them all because I only loaded the songs from my CDs that I really liked into ITUNES - leaving out the ones I skipped over.

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes and my iPod won't sync?

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.

I have a ipod touch 5g. The music wont sync from my computer to it and music downloaded on my ipod won't synce to my computer. How do I fix it?

Only iTunes purchased music can hava a cloud icon and then only if the music was purchased with the account listed in Settings>iTunes and App Store on the iPod.
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
