I believe your iPod is a 2nd generation model. If it has Model No. A1288 etched into the back casing, then it is 2nd generation.
The 2nd generation iPod Touch cannot install iOS after 4.2.1, because it isn't powerful enough to run iOS 4.3, let alone iOS 5 or 6.

Why can I not download apps on my iPod? I had to erase the memory now it keeps saying I have to agree to new terms and policies but it won't download that will just keep popping up.Why won't my iPod let me download anything? Why won't my ipod touch sync? It is all up to date and everything, and i know it is connected because when i plug it into my computer it charges, but it doesn't even show that it is connected so i can't sync all my new songs:(

Why won't my ipod touch gen 5 play audio on my Sony RDP-X30iP speaker dock. I have bought a lightning adapter and find that there is no audio from the speaker dock and the dock does not charge the ipod.
- Reset the dock
- Go to Sony's support site and check to see if they say it will work with a 5G iPod touch (w/adopter).
Also look for a firmware update.
Sometimes this works:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Or, it just may not be compatible. -

How is the iPod connected to your car stereo?, (via earphone jack or iPod dock connector)
By "pause" you mean that now it is playing thru your car stereo, while previously, it stopped playing thru your car stereo, when you switch off the ignition?
Anyway, I don't think it is an iPod problem, but you can try the
iPod Hard Reset -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON.
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

This reset wont delete any of your songs, just put all the settings back to when you first took it out of the box. -

I tried creating the new user account but that didn't change anything. Neither did updating to OS X 10.4.3. It just doesn't make sense because I've had the same thing happen with tv dvd players not being able to play stuff but all the computers can and stuff like that, but my dad's computer, which is the same model as mine, can play it and mine can't. It just keeps spitting it right back out. :\ Any more suggestions? I bought the extended warranty, I might try giving Apple a call.
