HT1362 I got a 2000 iMac from a friend. I do not have anything with it. No disk or anything. When I turn it on it goes to a welcome to Mac OS screen. It says hello Hilda then it's asking for a name and password . Can anyone help me.
I got a 2000 iMac with OS 9.1. I do not have the disks for it. The person who gave it to me could not remember the name and password they gave it. When it comes on it goes to the welcome to Mac OS screen. It has hello Hilda and under that it wants a name and password. What can I do. I tried shutdown and restarting holding down the command and s key but that does nt do anything. Please help
You'll need some installer discs for it to do anything. But as old as that is it may not be worth the trouble. You may find some retail copies of OS 9.1 on eBay or Google. You can install OS X on those old machines, but the maximum version is 10.3.9 (Panther) which may be getting difficult to find.

I need to access the library resources for an assignment in college. When I get to the website it asks for my user name and password and once I type that information, it seems like it will load and then it will repeat the user name and password page as if it did not load or say "authentication failed."

I figured out that I could use the message selection it gives and just type in my email address and it worked. I dont know why the email selection never worked, it just kept asking me to enter id and password and then telling me I have an account? Just updated my iPhone 5s from ios 8.1 to 8.3. After the install it asked for Apple ID and password and to allow it to sync to Mac and iTunes. After following the steps my phone kept restarting - turning on and off and goes blank. How do I fix this??
I have had about 9 iOS devices at work do this.
The fix and it will wipe out anything on your iphone is to connect it to your computer and have the latest version on iTunes open. Hold the Power/Sleep and Home button till it blanks out. Keep holding the home button untill it says recovery mode on the screen of the computer and do a restore. -

Hi I’m Mohammed abwane from Saudi Arabia. I purchased my me I phone 5 last march 2013. One week ago I try to restore this phone but when I arrive to activation point, this ask for apple Id and password. Unfortunately I forget the password and email I used for opening my account.
Then I send it to the suppler where purchased this phone they told me there is no way to fix this unless I give them the Id and password .know I don’t know where I can go because in my Location nobody know how to fix this problem.
At less I don’t know what I can do to fix this problem because I use this phone for my work and All my data and phone number in side this phone
Notes :- I have all the document ( invoice and box for this phone )which say that I phone for me .
I hope to get any answer from your good site other whys this phone will be useless for me

My iPad won't let me sign into my Apple ID when I try and download an app it asks for my id and password and when i type it in the iPad displays a message saying cannot connect to iTunes Store. However when i do this on my phone it works perfectly. Even when i sign in and out.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so how can I fix this?Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it. So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID). If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections. -

You can only have five computers authorized for one iTunes account. You need to deauthorize another computer and then authorize this computer. If yu do not have access to the other computers you can deauthorthize all computer and then authorize the one you want. You can only deauthorize all once a year. Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that,what should I do? Do you think this is just a way to get my credit card information?
It sounds like a phishing email. You can't "cancel" purchases. You've now given them your AppleID and password, so you should immediately change your password to something new and very secure.
Also watch out for suspicicious activity on your account. -

You can't. It is locked to the previous owner's account.

My wifi has suddenly stopped working on my iMac, after working fine for almost a year. There is an exclamation mark on the wifi bars and when I click it, it takes me to a network diagnostics page. This page asks me for my username and password for the wifi, which I don't have. It is different from the WEP key and modem name, which I originally used to set up my connection. I have not experienced any problems on all my other wifi-enabled devices. Ipod touch, iPad, MacBook all work fine. What should I do?
The name is the name of the network you created on the router. The password is the WEP password. You shouldn't be using WEP at all, as it's insecure and also seems to cause connection failures. Use WPA 2 Personal. If your router doesn't support it, get a new one.
