Suddenly it won't recharge, when connected to the pc it emits several cicks in serires and then it shows at intervals a low battery signs and another sign, a sad faced ipod icon with the apple support email address. I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Recently I erased an iPhone 3 so that it could be passed on and used by someone else, using the erase all content and settings feature. This has killed my iPhone and it is now stuck on the Apple logo. I have tried a restore in iTunes but recovery fails. This is not a jailbroken iPhone. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?
If you haven't already tried, see if you can force it into recovery mode to restore it:

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

Iphone would not restore---- Error -50. I have tried to restore, and it restored it to the new point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out. I can see earlier backups in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. There are four subfolders in this address. I need my contacts, photos, and messages back. I know this is a common error but I can not figure it out. I have ran the other troublshoot items in the error steps for 13 and 14 like apple says. Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer. Didn't change anything.
Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts. Removed all virus protection and firewall.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.Used the Microsoft fix it.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online. Doesn't matter.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network. I do not know how to do this or how to find the correct/full/complete restore point. There should be more information for this. -

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes.

My 3gs wont restore after ios 5 update. I have tried firmware restore and restore from backup, neither works. All I get is "iphone restore failed because backup session failed" Any ideas on how to make a successful restore with this ios 5 update?
I was having the same problem, I backed up my phone and then updated to iOS 5 and then it kept telling me it could not restore from my backup as it had failed. After reading a bunch of forums and posts and trying everything, I did manage to get it to work. I had tried the Time zone, creating a new computer user account, disabling anti-virus, etc.
It took a combination of things, one of which was disabling the anti-virus completely and copying the contents of the backup folder to my desktop and then deleting everything in the backup folder. Then I rebooted the PC, entirely disabled the anti-virus, copied the one backup I wanted to restore from the desktop to the backup folder and then trying to restore. Low and behold the phone said restoring from backup and I am back in business, so when in doubt, trying combining some of the fixes together. -

Perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling both iTunes and Bonjour. (Reinstalling iTunes should also reinstall your Bonjour.)

If you're trying to update an application, you need to delete it and then download it from your Apple ID. You may want to erase the internal drive and install a fresh OS.

Yes it will, just sign out, then sign back in with the correct address.
