HT1363 My Classic iPod keeps telling me to restore it.

My Classic iPod that I have had less than a month keeps telling me to restore it but when i plug it into my computer while in disk mode it says to format a disk. What do I do when Microsoft Windows will not format a disk in drive F:?

Try this (and ignore the troll).
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.

i have a ipod classic 120gb it went into restore mode and every time i do restore it in itunes it still keeps telling me to restore

Anyway, put your iPod touch into Recovery Mode. To do that, hold for 10 seconds by holding power and home button. After you hold it for 30 seconds, let it go. Click OK. Click Restore iPod.. That's it.

  • It keeps telling me to restore?

After plugging in my 80G iPod classic, iTunes keeps telling me I have to restore my iPod because it is in recovery mode. So I restore it and it pops up with the same thing over and over again. Help???

Check to see if iTunes is up to date on you computer. Also I notice lots of issues with iTunes on Windows.

  • Ipod keeps asking me to restore over and over after updating ITunes

I opened ITunes to add some new songs, and it told me to update the latest version of ITunes, which I did, and then it told me my IPod was corrupted, and I should restore it, which I did, and now I am in that loop where it keeps telling me to restore the software. I cannot get the songs back onto my IPod. I even tried the part of changing the drive letter, and that still didn't solve my problem.
After the restore, the IPod looks okay, but whenever I plug it in to upload the songs, I get that restore error again. I see this problem over and over again, so it appears as though others are having the same problem. Can anybody help?

Can't help remembering those infamous Apple commercials where the PC guy is ridiculed. Anyway, I'll give the same model 5G/30GB one more chance. The one I got was white; maybe the blacks are better.
The fact is, these devices are indeed jammed with sensitive technology. An actual spinning hard disk that doesn't do well under vibrations or shocks, and the extra battery juice it needs are not to be ignored. I never understood why anybody would want to watch moving images on a 2-in screen to begin with. I tried to no avail to convince my son to go for iPod Nano thinking it'd be more stable with its flash memory technology (I assume that's what Nanos have). The price difference didn't make sense, and I gave in. But now, I sort of think maybe it does. Anybody with experience to put in a good word for Nano as opposed to 5G Video?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...

  • My Ipod keeps telling me that i need to verify my apple account how do i do that?

Well my Ipod keeps on telling me that i need to verify my account and i did but now it's telling me that i n eed to something else but i don't know what it's about at all. Can someone help me.

Why am I sometimes asked to verify my Apple ID by email?
When you create a new Apple ID or make certain changes to your account, Apple will require you to sign in by following the link in a verification email. This is to help protect your identity and keep your account secure. Some Apple services, such as FaceTime and GameCenter, require email validation.
How do I verify my Apple ID by email?
Simply follow the link in the verification email that says "Verify Now." Sign in with your current Apple ID and password, then click Verify Address. You can also verify by signing in at My Apple ID. You'll receive an email prompting you to verify.

  • Help!  My iPod keeps telling me my computer can't take it.

I have had similar problems that many people have been having. I just bought an iPod 60 GB that my computer will not let me mount onto the computer. Now, I have downloaded the new iTunes as well as the new updater software (11-2005 version). I also tried the USB fix we have seen earler but that doesn't work. At least with the new updater it is recognizing that I have an iPod, but now the computer keeps telling me my computer does not have sufficient resources with no other explanation. I have all the hardware requirements and software requirements for the iPod (Windows XP Service Pack 2). Why does it keep doing this. Please, somebody, anybody! I'm pulling my hair out! Save me! I don't want to go bald...
    Tom

Several questions before I might be able to help:
    1) Are you trying to load your ipod across a network on a different computer, or are itunes and the ipod on the same machine?
    2) Is your machine using USB 2.0? USB 1.0 doesn't work well with ipods in my experience and, when it does, songs take forever to load.

Try changing the iPod's drive letter as it may be conflicting with another device that has the same drive letter assigend to here. See here for more details.
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Nano keeps telling me to restore

Hi I have a nano and when I plug it into itunes it keeps giving me a message that it has detected an ipod that needs to be restored. I have said yes and restored my ipod (which wiped out my music) but it has not removed the message. It just goes in circles - telling me I have to restore, restoring then telling me It has detected an ipod that needs restoring? can anyone help me?

I also have a 2nd gen nano that gives me the same message to restore, the nano screen "use iTunes to restore" When I go through the process (updated to new iTunes software yesterday and this happened on my next sync) it stops and new error message "cannot restore as devise is busy" Then the messages start all over again.
    Any ideas.
