  • Trouble moving music from my iTunes to my iPhone.

I downloaded the new iTunes software very recently, but now I seem to be having trouble moving music from my iTunes library onto my iPhone. If I click and drag the track to the iPhone icon, the icon is completely unresponsive. If I right-click the track and hit "Add to iPhone" nothing happens either. My iPhone is synced to my laptop and 'Trusts' it, so I don't understand why I'm not getting any response from my phone when I try to move music into it.
This is especially frustrating as when I tried to download the new software for my iPhone it suddenly and inexplicably went into recovery mode, and though I recovered the phone's data from backup all my music has been deleted from my phone and I can't get it back.
Am I doing something wrong that I'm unaware of, or is there a problem with the software? Any feedback would be hugely appreciated.

  • Have Moved Music...Itunes cannot fine

I have recently purchased an external hard drive due to the fact that I have downloaded so many songs and it was filling up my hard drive. I have moved all of the songs from i-tunes to the external drive....problem.....now that I go into i-tunes and try to either play songs, burns songs to a disk, etc....it always tells me that it is unable to locate the songs.....how can I tell(re-direct) i-tunes to look/access the external hard drive instead of the i-tunes folder that it had initially been looking to to find this information??? Clear as mud??

Eureka this seems to have resolved the problem. The file I selected is
music\iTunes\iTunes\itl I did try music\iTunes\itl but no change.
    In music\itunes I now have folders - \album art \Itunes \iTunesmusic \previousItunes music + files - \iTuneslibrary \iTuneslibraryextras \iTuneslibraryextras(2) \iTuneslibrarygenius \iTunesmusiclibrary \tempfile
Except for folders \iTunes and \previousITuneslibraries the above are all duplicated in music\iTunes! Should I delete anything??
    Thanks again

  • Moving music files between iTunes on laptop and iTunes on external HD

Hi - my music file became too big for my old macbook pro (120 GB HD space) so I followed Apple's instructions and moved it to an external hard drive. That worked fine, I just plug the HD in and there is all my music.
But, is it possible to restore the connection to a small number of songs in my iTunes on the laptop, so I would just have a "mini music library" for traveling around with the laptop? The names of all the songs show up in iTunes when I open it without connecting the external HD, but they "cannot be found."
Also, I just bought 5 songs and forgot to plug in the external HD, so those 5 songs are now the only songs that actively live in my music folder on my laptop. How do I move just those five files over to the external HD?
I hope all this is clear!
    Thanks.
    Fran

    you don't need two libraries.
iTunes can manage files which are stored in various locations. you can either use this script ...
    [_*Re-Locate Selected v1.1*_|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=relocateselected]
This script will re-locate the files of the selected iTunes tracks from their current location to a new user-chosen folder. iTunes will be updated with each track's new location and all of each track's meta-data will be preserved. Option to remove the files from their original location. (I don't advise using this on more than an album's worth of tracks or so at a time; re-locating dozens of tracks' files to a single folder doesn't seem to make much sense to me.)
NOTE: If your "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" preference set, you will not be able to create new folders in or re-locate files within the iTunes Media folder; outside is OK.
... to move selected content from one to another location, or do this:
    (1) go iTunes > preferences > advanced and temporarily point +*iTunes media folder location+* to either your local iTunes folder or the external. on the same tab, ensure +*copy files to ... when adding to library+* is check marked.
    (2) select (highlight) the files to be moved in iTunes, right-click (or ctrl-click) and choose +consolidate files+ from the pop-up menu.
    (3) remember to point +*iTunes media folder location+* back to to the original spot.

  • Moving music from one iTunes account to another

I have music that I bought using my dad's iTunes account but now I have my own and would like to move the music into my account, under my password. Is there a way to do this?

Are you referring to an iTunes Store account? If so, it's not possible to transfer tracks from one iTunes Store account to another. You'll have to continue to use your dad's account ID and password to authorize any tracks purchased through that account.

  • Finding moved music library with iTunes

    I have a big problem
I had to move my music from C:\ to J:\
of course iTunes no longer knows where my music is
does anyone know how to make sure iTunes can find it again?
and then I mean without having to re-import everything
if I do that iTunes will no longer know I already have some episodes of the podcasts I listen
or what songs I have listened and how often
a other problem is that J:\ is a external HD
and I'm afrate windows will give it a other drive letter when I reconnect it
does anyone know how I can make sure it will always be J:\?

set the drive letter for j:\ to Z:\ so it will always mount to Z:\ and deleted& rescanned my library, so far windows keeps putting the HDD on Z:\ so so far so good

Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync.
This is among the most basic of functions of the ipad/iphone.
Click Support at the top of this page, then click Manuals.

  • Help moving music files to itunes

Is there an easier way than adding file to library. when i use this i can only do four or five at time

ensure that you have both 'keep itunes music folder organised' and 'copy files to itunes music folder' checked in the preferences, and then just drag and drop your music files / folders, etc and you can drag GBs worth in one go

  • I have PC with Windows 7 and iPad. My music in iTunes on PC is available under Music on iPad but having trouble moving music to i-Cloud. I suceed in moving the music to iCloud on PC but when I look at iPad music still on device and not in iCloud. Help?

I am a beginner using Apple software, so please bare with me.
I am having trouble moving music from the iPad to iCloud in order to save space in the device.
I realise that in order to store music not purchased on iTunes store can only be stored in iCloud if you subscribe to iTunes Match which I have done.
Appears that moving music from iTunes on my PC to iCloud is successful by deleting song or album in iTunes library and than click on "Keep song" instead of sending to recycle bin. After this has been done the Cloud Icon appears on the album or against the song. However when I then look at Music on the iPad the album or song have not been moved to iCloud. I have tried syncronising with cable connected between PC and iPad. After that has been done the message is that sync was successful bujt still music has not been moved into the Cloud.
Can anybody help? What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to move the music to the cloud working on the iPad only (without trying to use the PC to move the music to the cloud)?

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device.  If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Moving music from itunes on old pc to new pc

hi, i need a little assistance, i'm disposing of an old pc which has a lot of music downloaded from cds, cassettes and lps. i've tried using my ipod but that only allows me to move music purchased from itunes. i tried to use a flash drive, although it appeared to download into itunes, none of those moved this way will play says that file cannot be found. any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated

You need to organize the library from the Library section of the File menu while the flash drive is connected, or drag the song files to the internal drive and import that instance of them.

  • Moved music to new hard drive now itunes can't find songs !

This is what I did. My old hard drive was getting full so I bought an additional hard drive and installed it. I then selected all the music in the itunes music folder, copied it, then pasted it into a new folder on the new hard drive. I changed the settings in itunes to direct to the new hard drive. All the music i put in there now has exclamation points next to it and can't access the music? Help. I'm desperate....

Different problem. - probably same answer. Yesterday I started iTunes and I had exclamation points on about 20 of my tunes. I re-linked them all manually. I am new to iTunes but I believe I am beginning to understand that unless all the sources are in one library they 'may' get unlinked from time to time. I am going to assume that all of your tunes are linked to a source that no longer exists. So they are all now unlinked.
What I would like to know is how to restore those links. I am going to make another assumtion. Since I believe that iTunes loaded most of them when I first started using iTunes, there is a way to force it to do that again. I have no problem with putting all of my tunes in one library. I know that others have posted the desire to store and link tunes in multiple libraries, and there is a Consoldiate Option that says it will consolidate all of your tunes into one libary. It doesn't work. So how do you force iTunes to relink your files, in or out of the same library?
