How can I update my ipod classic when it shows ipod is in recovery mode and needs to be restored?
Also, when I go to the Apple website and click on download update software a blocked pop-up symbol appears even if my Norton internet security is turned off. It says the download will start automatically, but nothing happens. Any answers for me?
Use your web browser to view the source of the page which tells you that the download will start automatically, and search the text for 'iframe' without the quote marks. To the right of iframe will be an URL; copy and paste this into the browser's address bar to download the file.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
2. Connect USB cable to computer, leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad -

Everytime I plug my Ipod in my computer, it starts to charge and says "do not disconnect". Then, I open iTunes and it won't show up! So I can't transfer any songs on it. I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it like 5 times, but it still won't work. I even tried hooking up my mom's Ipod to my computer, and iTunes didn't recognize her's either. I also tried hooking my Ipod up to her computer and it worked!! It might be my computer's USB port. I have 6, and my ipod doesn't work on any of them. I tried updating my ipod, but it said I needed to plug it in and it was plugged in. So, I went to my mom's computer and updated it there. Went back back and plugged it into my computer and it still didn't work. I installed the new version of iTunes, still didn't work. Can someone please help me?! This is so frustrating! It was working perfectly, untill now. I haven't even had it a year!
Windows XPI'm not sure if this is relevant but I'm having similar problems myself. I have my pc ( running XP with no ipod software ) hooked up to a cable modem and my daughters PC ( also running XP, yet her Ipod mini and its software is used here ) connected via wireless. She's had the mini for 4 months and has had no problems.Last night went to use a prepaid music store card and was told needed to update with Ipod for Windows 2006-01-10. Once we did this we lost our wireless connectity. I restored my daughters pc to a previous point and the network was fine again but now the mini still needed the update. A bit frustrated here......tried again and once agin had issues so restored the pc......now itunes won't open....says "missing files". I'm also scared to "re-install" all the Ipod software, scared of losing all her music......

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

currently running iOS 4.3.5If you restored from backup all the photos in your camera roll that were in the backp should be restored to our iPod. However, photos that are synced to the iPod are not in the backup. You will have to resyc them to the iPod. If the synced photos are no longer on the computer then the photos are lost.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

ipod was 4.3.3 before the update the previous versionGo to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and look at the date of the backup. Does the date f the backup correspond to whene the saved games would be on the iOd? If so, restore the iPod from backup. Make sure that the apps are in the iTunes library so they will be synced t the iPOd as part of the restore from backup
Make sure thew auto-syncing is turned off . Otherwise, when yu connct the iPod to the computer the old backup will be deleted and replaced with the new ne that doe not contain the data. To turn off, check the box in iTunes>Prefernences>Devices that says "Prevent iPods....syncing". -

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It will wipe anything you put on it using your own itunes account. BUT it wont wipe off the new iOS5
