I have looked at multiple websites; they all have the same instructions for putting your IPhone into recovery mode using ITunes.
My computer was not downloading ITunes before, but I recently made it work. I turned my phone off, held the home button, plugged in the phone to the computer with ITunes already up. The little USB cord and ITunes logo showed up. The instructions said that a popup would say that ITunes had 'detected and IPhone in recovery mode', and from there I would be able to reset my phone. However, the popup never happens. I have tried this several times, and it's the same: I see the USB cable and ITunes logo on my phone screen, and in the corner of ITunes, a picture comes up of a phone with a little 'X' next to it. I clicked on the phone, on the X, but nothing works. The popup just never shows. I am unable to reset my IPhone because of it. I have not found any other way for me to reset my phone, since I didn't activate Find My Phone or ICloud.
There is no icloud on an iphone 3, because you need IOS 5.0 or higher, the highest IOS is 4.2.1

  • Ipod Classic in disk mode does not show on desktop or finder

Ipod Classic in disk mode shows in Itunes but not on desktop or in finder? Can't add any files to it.

With the Finder as the front most application, choose Finder -> Preferences -> General and make sure there is a tick mark next to CDs, DVDs, and iPods, under the option Show these items on the desktop.
    Any luck there?

  • Ipod goes into disk mode HELP!!

my 30 GB ipod gets stuck and wont start, when i reset it, it goes into disk mode and gets stuck there, wont reset wont turn off its dead until the battery runs out. The computer doesn't recognize it until its battery is completely gone and I have charged it on the wall charger for a while! HELLPPPP!! My Ipod is brand New and i have restored it twice already, once it even got stuck on a song and didnt fix until batery was dead.

with your iPod connecting with an ac charger or a computer, press "select"+"menu" keys until you see the apple logo, it may takes a minute and also try to do a few attempts.

  • TS1372 I have iPod Classic in Disk Mode and when i connect it to my apple computer it does not appear in iTunes and the screen displays a message saying "Do not disconnect" with a circle with a line through it, flashing. What do I do now?

I have iPod Classic in Disk Mode and what do I do next cause it's not showing up in iTunes?

Does the iPod appear on your desktop as an external hard drive?  Has the iPod ever successfully connected before?  Disconnect your iPod and reset it using the Select (Center) and Menu button combo.  Then reboot your Mac, open iTunes, and reconnect your iPod to a high powered USB 2.0 port and see if it's recognized.
Have you worked through all the troubleshooting here?

  • IPod classic won't sync, doesn't go into disk mode what do I do next?

Here we go, another iPod classic problem.  A few days ago I noticed a lag while going through my artists list.  Went home, tried to sync, iTunes said I had a corrupted file please restore.  Not the first time this has happened so I thought it would be an easy fix.  Nope.  Restore didn't happen.  Now my classic doesn't turn on unless plugged in to my PC.   Went through the motions for everything Apple reccomends, nothing.  The screen looks like it's in disk mode, but doesn't say disk mode on it.  It won't go into disk mode, so I can't reformat it on Win 7.  Shows up in windows as removeable drive but does not show up in iTunes so I can't change settings or do another restore.

Main Issue: Short; in disk mode all I get is a screen that says "Okay to disconnect" with a check mark
In Disc mode, yes that is all you see on the Ipod Screen, as the iPod becomes an external hardisk and not a media player with Menu. I's main function is to store files to/from the Mac.
Hard reset (using the menu and middle buttons
Reset the iPod - you ust press the Menu and center button for about 10 secs till the logo comes ON.
I need to be able to put in disc mode to at least run diagnostics on it and can't even do that.
If you want to go into disk Diagnostic, read  this excellent post from tt2.

Today, the ipod is not even being recognized by the computer to say that it's there. There is no "connecting" screen, not even a charging symbol.
*Exception: It will charge when hooked up to a charger in an outlet which leads me to believe it's a software issue in the ipod.
You can try all the above, but you should know that when connecting the iPod to a Mac, do not use the Keyboard USB port, or any USB Hub. if you are using a Macbook Pro, only one USB port can be use for the iPod, the other one is not a high Power USB 2.0 port, which shared the Internal bus with iSight and other IO devices like Mouse, infraRed, Bluetooth etc.
So take a look at your Mac user manual and see which USB port to use.
    Have a nice day!

  • HT1363 iPod Classic and Disk Mode

I have a 5th generation iPod and I can't seem to get it to into disk mode. I've tried to complete the mentioned process on a flat surface and still no luck. I have a lot on my device and I'd love to be using it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Did you see the Apple logo, after 6 secs?
When you put it in Disk Mode, you are using it as a Portable Hardisk, so I can't get what you meant by this statement,
I have a lot on my device and I'd love to be using it.
In Diskmode, you cant play music or watch video or Podcast
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it is charged.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will should say "Do not disconnect".

  • My iPod went into recovery mode and I knew I had to restore it. However, when I plug it into the computer, nothing comes up on the iPod and my iTunes doesn't open. Except, when I plug my iPod into my wall charger, it lights up. What can I do to save it?

For some reason, my iPod doesnt power up when I connect it to my computer, but it does if I plug it into my wall charger.
I need to restore it as it went into recovery mode, what is it that doesn't allow it to connect to my computer and what can I do to fix it?

You can re-download for free (As with the free music the bill just reads .00) .
Try it with one and see for yourself.
Oh yes, spare yourself future grief since this doesn't apply to music and video, get an external HD to back up iTunes and use it!

  • ITunes won't recognize my iPod classic in disk mode.

I have a iPod classic that has the sad face. I read all the articles, and videos that show how to fix it, and all of them show that you need to force it into disk mode and plug it into your computer and restore it with iTunes. I can get it into disk mode fine, but when I plug it into my computer iTunes won't recognize it.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks for your help.

Is there any way to hard restore it, with out hooking it up to the computer.

  • Forcing Ipod classic into disc mode, this helped me fix my 80g classic.

Nobody had an answer for my 80g classic that couldnt be unmounted. I found on a blog somewhere that if you press Menu and the center key until the apple logo appears and then press the center key and play, it forces it into disc mode. Before I did this I couldnt even get it to erase in disc utilities. It wouldnt do anything. After I forced it into disc mode it let me erase everything in disc utilities and restore. ***** that this forum was no help at all.

Its a software problem. I've been reading over the forums and noticed that a LOT of problems started around the same time, syncing problems ipods that aren't being recognized etc., I am not sure but on another thread it said to use a different software called WinAmp. I havent personally used it but others have to success, if i were you i would trade in that ipod for a zune to avoid this rather major software problem that is happening to a lot of ipod classics.
