HT1382 how t ouploadmy itunes from back up

My laptop broke. I have just purchased a new one my itunes was back up to a external hard drive. How to I upload it on my new pc?

If iTunes was "backed up" by copying the ENTIRE iTunes folder to the external drive, simply copy that same folder to the new computer and open iTunes.
No need to import anything or create a new library and lose all the playlists and playcounts.

    Move the iTunes library to a shared area and then into the desired location. If this isn’t the default one, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and choose that library.

  • How do I stop iTunes from backing up my iPhone photos to Dropbox?

    I have an iPhone and also have Dropbox. For some reason iTunes decided to back up the photos on my iPhone into a folder on my Dropbox without me telling it anything. How do I stop it from backing up my iPhone photos to Dropbox? The help files don't provide easy-to-find documentation and iTunes simply isn't intuitive.

    iTunes does no such thing.
    The dropbox app on the device has such a feature, turn it off.

  • How to Play iTunes from a external Hard Drive?

    Is it possible to run iTunes from an external hard drive so that I dont use up the space on my labtop? For example, store all my music files on the External and run it through iTunes.

    Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
    If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

    If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.

  • How to stop Iphone from Backing up

    I was just wondering if anyone knew how to stop the iPhone from backing itself up every time it syncs with iTunes. I sync my iPhone throughout the day, and can't wait for it to back up every time I plug it in. I usually just cancel the backup, but wish I didn't have to.
    Is there any way to stop it, other than just hitting the cancel button when you plug the iPhone in?
    Thanks
    EDIT: I'm sorry, I didn't see the previous post on topic. Guess I should lurk moar!

  • How to access iTunes from hard drive

    My laptop has crashed and won't restart. My iTunes library is backed up to an external hard drive. My partner has a laptop with iTunes. How can I access my own library by using her iTunes?

    Hey Mikejl75,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    If you connect the external HD to the other computer they should be available.
    This article explains how to open iTunes and choose a different iTunes Library.

  • How to consolidate iTunes from MAC & PC on to a NAS box?

    === Background ===
    I've got 2 MACs & 2 PCs (WinXP) and I want to get the iTunes data consolidated to the network.
    I've got iTunes data (including purchased songs) on both MACs and 1 PC.
    MACs have iTunes 8.02. PC has iTunes 7.4.3.1 (but I can upgrade if that helps).
    All purchased songs have DRM and were bought using the same Apple ID.
    All the machines are on the same 10/100 network.
    I have a NAS box (BuffaloTech) that can be viewed from each machine.
    === Challenge ===
    I'd like to move all the iTunes content to the NAS box so that:
    - all songs/playlists, etc are in 1 place
    - I can use iTunes on any machine MAC/PC to see/play the same libraries
    - I can use iTunes from any machine to buy/add more songs to the libraries
    === Questions ===
    How hard is all this?
    Does the answer get more complex if some of the MACs have multiple accounts?
    I'd like each account to be able to see all the songs.
    I've read about moving iTunes to an external drive. I figure I can use the same process
    to move iTunes from one machine to the NAS. I wasn't able to see much about merger the other iTunes libraries in with the first. Should I do this through my iPhone/USB rather than through the network 10/100?
    Once I have the iTunes setup/consolidated on the NAS, how to I get the iTunes on each machine
    to use the data on the NAS. Will I run into issues (e.g. file locking) when more than one machine uses the iTunes database at the same time?
    What should I watch out for?
    Any recommendations regarding this sort of configuration?
    Thanks for any advice,
    -Dave

    Hey u2sweetestallie,
    Thanks for the question and detailed information. If your backup drive (in your example, drive A) included the iTunes Library files, you can open the library by following these steps:
    iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
    If the hard drive did not include the iTunes Library files, but instead just the music, you may wish to re-link or re-import the music:

  • How to show popup from backing bean code immediately?

    Hi,
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0 and have problems with showing popups. I have a button with an action on my page and a method in backing bean.
    I want to rise up few popups from this method in backing bean (for example just an anouncement that something will happen) or a dialog
    (for example a question if you want to continue).
    I understand how to get a dialog response to deal with it in code, but the problem is that the popup doesn't show up immediately, but only when
    this method called on button finishes. I'd like to handle dialog responses in the middle of the action and then the code to continue with the execution.
    Here is my backing bean code:
    private RichPopup popup;
    public String test() {
    //Some code...
    RichPopup.PopupHints hints = new RichPopup.PopupHints();
    popup.show(hints);
    //Here is the place for code which I want to be executed after popup closes,
    //but is executed before the popup shows...
    return null;
    And here is part of my jssf:
    <af:commandButton text="Test" id="cb1"
    action="#{popupBean.test}"/>
    <af:popup id="popup" binding="#{popupBean.popup}">
    <af:dialog id="dialog" type="yesNo"
    title="Dialog"
    dialogListener="#{popupBean.onDialogAction}"
    binding="#{popupBean.dialog}" clientComponent="true">
    <af:outputText value="Do you want to continue?" id="ot1"/>
    <af:clientListener method="onDialogCancel" type="dialog"/>
    <af:serverListener type="DialogCancelHandlerEvent" method="#{popupBean.onDialogCancel}"/>
    </af:dialog>
    </af:popup>
    Can someone give me some answer how to show the popup from backing bean code immediately?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tina

    If you want to execute code after popup closes, then put this code in PopupCanceledListener or in DialogListener(you can't block method execution).

  • How to prevent itunes from connecting to my IOS devices over wifi

    I have a MBP retina that is set to sync  (over wifi) with the iOS devices for myself and my wife: 2 ipads, 1 ipad mini and 2 iphones.
    When I am launch iTunes in my other Mac - Macbook Air (mid 2010, 13inch, OS X 10.8.2), it will also start to connect the iOS devices - even though I am not using it to sync with my iOS devices.
    How to prevent iTunes in my MBA from connecting to all the iOS devices in my house?
    Thanks.

    I configured all my iOS devices to sync with my MBP Retina (over wifi) - but the problem is that when I am using my MBA, the devices will also automatically connect to the MBA Itunes over wifi when I launch iTunes in the MBA.
    Is there any way to prevent auto connection to the MBA?

  • How to rewind iTunes (from 7.0 to older versions)!!!!!!!!

    i recently tried this and worked fine with me, i work with WINDOWS XP not iMacs
    Here's what you got to do:
    1: Very Important Step!!!, back up your library and then save it in a place where you can find it easily later, do not save it on the folder containing iTunes default library files
    2: Uninstall iTunes 7 (it doesnt even deserve that name, iCrash would fit perfectly dont you think??)
    3: go to the folder that contains the iCrash library files (the default ones), erase them, also erase the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder, but, do not erase the back up you did before AND the "iTunes Music" folder
    since both are linked and they cannot work if either one is missing
    4: now you can install the previous iTunes version you want to, then, make sure it can open up/load up, now click on "file", select "import" (this option depends on how older the iTunes is, i rewinded it to 6.0.5 ver.), now search the backup you did before and double-click it...
    5: Voila!, now you're the proud user of a real iTunes, not the "impossibly better" iCrash 7.0
    If you have any trouble after doing this, post a comment down there...

    hey der feniks! Could you walk me thru backing up my music to a safe place? My stuff is so messed up after trying to follow apples instructions, I'm afraid of doing anything else. I still have ALL my music in my file and if I lose that, well, imagine!
    So if you could tell me how to do that so I can re-load my itunes that came with my 30 gig, I'd appreciate it. I haven't been able to access my music for over a week. And spent an hour and a half on the phone with apple tech support. After they walked me thru everything, it still didn't work. So since they didn't know, they tell me it has to do with my microsoft software. Which, I had no problems with it messing up my other itunes installs. I would just like to be able to access my music! I actually went out and bought a cd today, because I can't buy it thru itunes!!
    Thanks!

  • How to stop iTunes from adding songs to library automatically???

    I love iTunes and almost everything about it. Pretty much the one and only complaint with it is that every time I download a music file (not to my music folder), iTunes can be completely shut down, but starts up and adds the file to my library. I download a LOT of random files that I listen to once and delete immediately, or I will download music to one folder and move it to my music folder at a later date, so having iTunes automatically adding all of these files to the library on its own free will is going to force me to uninstall it. Is there any way to stop iTunes from doing this?????? Even if it were to just add the files only if I played them in iTunes vs any file I add my my computer?

    I think you aked this before and didn't get an answer. I don't really know, but here goes.
    Any thing iTunes plays it adds to the library and I guess that iTunes is set as your default player for the type of file you are downloading.
    You don't say exactly what you are doing but you are using another program to download music files. I am guessing that somewhere in the Options or Settings of the program you are using there is a setting to play after downloading, maybe you can turn that off?
