after synching to my desktop, Outlook crashed and cannot be repaired even using the original disk; it will come back up after re-boot, load new emails, work for about 5 minutes, then die; how do I unsynch?
It should be like the very first time you synced your phone with I-Tunes. It will notice you haven't synced before and just copy everything from your phone into I-Tunes. It shouldn't delete anything from the phone, at least it never has for me. It just puts a copy of everything into I-Tunes and even if you delete an app for example from your phone and you decide you want it back later, you can just go back into I-Tunes and copy it back over. The file icons is one on the change features MS removed from the Explorer options. Supposedly you can do the change with the registry, though I have not figured out that option. If you want to try, backup the registry first and then you might try the instructions at How to Change a File Type Icon in Windows 7 and Vista - The Winhelponline Blog. If the application icon is not correct, try to fix that before the approach above. Good luck and be careful (dealing with the registry can make your computer not work..

The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?
If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

Or did you mean you had downloaded it to your iPhone, and you were looking for the app in iTunes to activate it? If so, that is not where you would do it. You need to sign on to your iCloud account on your computer - that's where it is housed....

I have been trying to download iOS 6.1 on my ipad. After its been downloading for about 4 hours, I receive a message that there is an error and cannot download. How can I delete this download from my settings? I tried downloading other apps, but it will not let me unless I download iOS 6.1
What iOS are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

I got my iPad from my friend and he done a full restore before I got it, but know that I have put my iCloud account on here I have contacts and his too. How can I fix this problem? !!!!!
As I said in the other thread that you posted in the other forum, your friend clearly has not restored the iPad correctly. I suggest that you undertake another restore and start again.

Given what you've have described, your friend cannot have restored the iPad correctly. You need to decide whether you are willing to delete his contacts manually, or carry out another restore. Personally I think I would go for the restore. -

First try restarting your Mac into "safe mode", which will run the equivalent of a Disk Utility "repair disk" operation. If your Mac shuts down during that process, you'll have to try something a little more powerful (and more expensive), such as DiskWarrior.

Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player. I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform. If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing. You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.

Just sorted this problem - hold down Sleep and Home buttons until apple sign appears - after about 15 secs. Thereafter use a normal and iPad unfreezes. I backed up on iCloud afrer "recovery". Good luck.
