HT1386 Help, I'm not syncing!

I purchased some songs from iTunes through my computer (Windows 7) & did a sync with my iPad2 (5.1.1). This time all that synced was the newly purchased tunes and it wiped all the other music & playlists off my iPad2. Now I only have 13 songs to listen to when I used to have hundreds. I tried syncing again, with the same dismal result. I went to the Apple help site, but I seem to have everything set up properly (until this instance, my syncing was uneventful), so nothing on the help site helped. Talk about singing the blues! Does anyone know what's up with this?

Hey Future Apple CEO,
Thanks for your response. I only ever use my iPad with my laptop, so there was no computer involved other than the one I've always used thus far without issues. However, your response must have provided some goodwill towards me as I managed to sync just moments before your response came through. In desperation, thinking this is sync or swim, I went to iTunes, then Music on the menu under the apple logo, then under 'Sync Music' I checked off 'Entire Music Library' instead of 'Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres' and now my iPad is syncing. I'm happy it seems to be doing what I wanted it to do, but I guess I'll have to wait to find out if it will create duplicates instead of just adding my new purchases in future. I'm having visions of spending countless hours deleting duplicates as my iPad transfers the music it was already storing, over & over again. Hopefully it won't do that and I will be blissfully happy with it's behaviour from this point on. Thanks again for your help.

"I was thinking I would just connect my iPhone and all of my music and other stuff would transfer to the new computer. "
Not true. The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You really should transfer everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your computer. Since you do not have access to the old computer, then use your backup copy of the old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you would have to transfer itunes purchased as described earlier. Any other itunes content would be lost.
You can e-mail photo library pics to yourself, but they will not be of the original quality.
Before syncing, enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

  • HT1386 some music will not sync back to ipod after restoring after update

i backed up my itunes library to disk prior to updating to OS6 now certain songs will not sync back to ipod even though they were purchased from itunes Help Please

If the non-syning ones play in iTunes on the coputer:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HT1386 my ipod is not syncing with itunes

I have tried everything to sync my ipod classic with itune and nothing is working.
It seems that iTunes recongnises the device but nothing syncs.
I have run the diagnostics and it says it is not syncing.
I have reload iTunes and reset the iPod twice.
I have checked the leads with a spare lead.
And still nothing except a lot of hair pulling and screaming.
Someone please help I have spent the last 2 hours trying to figure this out and I do not want to pay the support fee of $19 just yet.

  • Help..can not sync address book on macbook with iphone

not sure, but the iphone will not sync with the address book on my macbook, what am i doing wrong?
    help
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you have never synchronized your Address Book before, you must first configure your computer to do so.
    • launch iSync [that's right: iSync]
    • open the Preferences… dialog
    • check the Enable Syncing on this computer option
    • launch the Address Book
    • open the Preferences… dialog
    • check the Synchronize my contacts with other computers using .Mac option
To synchronize events, you'll need to configure iCal in a similar manner.

  • HT1386 my ipad is not syncing my music correctly from my itunes account via my laptop. The music does not appear, although it shows when you look into summary as grayed out .

I carried out a recent software update and there after that my itunes music would not sync in the normal way. My music only shows on my ipad when connected and in music summary and this is shown as grayed out with a broken circle icon beside any new music which has been inported to my itunes account via my laptop. In the past when i connected my ipad to my laptop to sync it would ask if i wanted to transfer from ipad or not. This does not happen now at it goes straight into sync mode.

    Hi,
This sounds so frustrating. If any processing of sound, e.g. through Logic, through Wiretap, or you might try Garageband (which I assume you have tucked away somewhere), produces the problem, then its hard to blame the software of the individual program. This leaves OSX and/or Coreaudio, or a hardware problem. Sorry if you've already reached this stage. This would mean a reinstall of OSX (or an upgrade, if you're thinking of it), or addressing the hardware issue. I know I had some very bizarre things (and repetitive) happen to me with faulty memory, or memory that just wasn't seated properly in its slot. You could start out by running the hardware test and go from there.
    Good Luck,
    Ray

  • Please help, I can not sync my iCal w/ my other IOS5 devices.

I can not sync my iCal in my Mac Book Pro with other iOS5 Devices. The server responded with "507" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

    Cenzon-
Are you syncing over WiFi or over the USB cable?  Try doing the opposite.
Also try a different USB port on the iMac.

  • HT1386 iPad Air will not sync; message appears that sync server failed to sync the iPad

New iPad Air will not sync contacts and calendars to Outlook.  Set up device in December, tried to sync today, Feb. 8th, after updating to iTunes 11.1.4.62; message appeared that iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPad because the sync server failed to sync the iPad.  Uninstalled 11.1.4.62 and installed 11.1.3.8 and still would not sync.  Synced an earlier generation iPad about 2 hrs. earlier today.  What do I need to do?

I'm having a similar problem ... just used my iPad 2 to purchase the Bourne trilogy and it downloaded fine but I did not try to play it right away.  Then I plugged the iPad into the computer and it downloaded the SD versions of the movie and I used iTunes to sync my movies.  Then I tried to play it and it said it could not open the movie.  I then did a full iPad restore and did a fresh sync and now I get the Cannot Opne pop up.  Did you ever find an answer to your question?
