HT1386 How do I control which device's iCal is controlling the sync?

I make changes to my calendar on my iPad, but when I sync it with my computer it defaults to the iMac calendar and erases what is on the iPad. How do I control which device is the sync-er and the sync-ee?

Are you using iCloud?
If so, both teh Mac and iPad should be using iCloud.
Do not sync the calendar with iTunes.

  • Controlling which devices Facetime rings

    Hi Forum,
we now have 3 iOS and 4OSX devices in the house, under one Apple ID and 2 iCloud IDs. 2 iClouds IDs for me and my wife, one Apple Id for purchases across all the dvices and so we only pay once.
With this set up, how do i control what calls what when i call from one of my devices with my iCloud Id to my wifes device and her iCloud ID? i dont even think the iCloud id matters, i just threw it in for set up clarity...

    Hi,
If you force users to use RD Gateway to connect then you could configure the RD Connection Authorization Policy (RD CAP) to only allow computers that are a member of certain groups.  For non domain-joined devices there isn't really a built-in method
to control which devices can connect.

Under manage devices, I have 10 devices and I want to remove some but how can I tell which device is which? I have 6 Iphones on there but they all have the same name so how can I tell which Iphone is associated with a certain number so I don't remove the wrong phone? Please help!

Remove all of them. Then hook one at a time to the computer. Give each a different name.

  • How do I choose which devices sync?

My sister, mum and I have iPhones and my niece, nephew and I have iPads. The notes I place in my iPhone automatically appear on all the iPads and anything put in the iPads appears on my iPhone. However, these notes do not appear on all iPhones, as they do not appear on my mum's iPhone or my sister's iPhone, and anything in my mum's and sister's iPhone does not appear on either the other iPhones or the iPads. This not only gives others access to my notes but I have also discovered that if my notes are deleted on one device they are deleted on all devices, incl the iPhone.
How do I determine which devices my notes sync to as although I would like to access my nieces notes I do no want her to access mine, nor have the option to delete them.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I assume you are sharing a single OSX user account and each have an individual iCloud account.
You can share different groups but it will mean that only one of you can sync photostream photos with the mac.
The way to do this is to have one of you as the primary iCloud user (with photostream) and have the remaining three users accounts added as secondary accounts in system preferences > mail, contacts and calendars.

  • How do you identify which device downloaded an app?

My family has two iPods, one iPhone, and an iPad.  I just looked at my recent purchases and found a $20 purchase for Island Empire.  First, I have no idea why a game costs that much, but I need to know which device was used to download the app.

    Strange...  Two options.
    1. Connect each iDevice you have to iTunes. Right-click on its name under the Devices listing in the left side bar, Select "Transfer Purchases from xxxx."
    2. In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store (once each with every Apple ID used); Select Prchased from the Quick Link section in the right-hand side bar; you can review all purchases by going thru each tab.

  • Identifying which device id was synchornized in the middleware

    Hi,
I needed to know how do we identify which device was synchronized in the middleware. In 7,1 when we use the client to sync the data the device id is not mentioned so how do we know in the middle ware which is the clients device. Also one particular user could have multiple devices.
could someone please clarify this doubt?

    Hi,
You can use the device attribs to avoid this problem.
On the DOE say u can mention that the device should be picked up on
    the basis of device name.
You can make the device name as a mandatory attribute for registration.
    You can use :SDOE_DEV_REGISTER transaction
To check what device was picked up in case u dont have mandatory parameters you would need
to get the device ID from the portal and then check in the config file  (MI/settings ) if the ID is present.
In case it is present then this the correct device that got registered.
    Hope this helps.

I have a second generation I Pod touch.  How do I know which games I can download from the Apple Store?

    Hello, Suzanne.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Unfortunately there isn't a list available at this time for applications that are specific for your iOS/Software version.  However, once you know which iOS/Software version you have installed, you can browser various applications and look for ones that meet your system requirements.  I have included a screenshot below on how to look for this information.

  • I'm trying to add my Linux netbook to my sync account but both my windows computers will not show the "Add Device" button in any of the sync management screens

I'm trying a new Linux build on a net book that I use for playing with non windows OS. In the process of setting up the fresh OS install I wanted in get my Firefox account set up to that I didn't have to spend lots of time working on that one thing. I'm no stranger to the browser sync and have attached several of my computers and tablets with a number of different OS to the account with little trouble including the Firefox of the previous Linux build that was on the net book. The problem now is that on both of my to main computers, a windows 7 desktop and a windows 8.1 tablet, both running the latest Firefox, I am unable to find the "add device" button in any of the sync management screens. This includes the browsers built in options screen as well as the Firefox manage account page. The first gives me options for disconnecting the account, going to the manage screen, several check boxes for what can be synced, and the device name. The manage screen, after logging in, only give me options for signing out, changing password, and deleting the account. Any help figuring out why the add device button seem to be missing from both these devices would be greatly appreciated.

Please check your Firefox Installation's version. (can be found by clicking the main menu, either clicking or hovering over the help button, and then clicking about firefox in the sub menu). depending on how long ago you set up sync you may still be using the older sync version. firefox 29 introduced a new (and might i add far less tedious) sync version. see [[How to update to the new Firefox Sync|this Mozilla support article]] for information on upgrading your sync to the new version.

  • How can i determine which devices are used at the moment?

    Hi all,
I am designing an interface with LabVIEW for uing agilent devices. My work colleagues will use this interface.  I want to determine which devices are used at the moment and if I determine used device, i will add automatically device names to interface's main vi. So all my work colleagues can see on the program which devices are used by another colleague. This devices are connected with GPIB. İ want to learn is there any function on Instrument I/O palette.
    Thanks,
    Omer
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Omer,
so those devices are connected to the PC with a GPIB connection. Will your collegues run several DAQ programs at the same time?
GPIB-devices being controlled by PC don't have a "in use"-signal. They wait for commands, execute them and send an answer. When you start to control them using two programs they may respond to both programs, mixing up settings/measurement values and so on.
That being said: In MAX you can see all devices connected to your GPIB port. You could scan the GPIB port using VISA commands in your program. You might even try to access a certain device by it's VISA alias. I really don't know if you will get a "device nopt available" error message when that VISA alias is in use by a different program - but you might do a quick test on your own…

  • How do i see which devices are connected to my airport router

How do I see which wi fi devices are hooked up to my router?  Also, my Verizon Network Extender is not working with my new airport express router?  How do I get it to work?  My system and GPS lights are red on the extender.

How do I see which wi fi devices are hooked up to my route
    Open AirPort Utility
Hold down the option key on your Mac while you double click on the AirPort icon
Click on each wireless device displayed for more info about that device
Also, my Verizon Network Extender is not working with my new airport express router?
Apple uses proprietary settings for their "extend" feature on their routers, so it would be extremely unlikely that a device from another manufacturer would be compatible for this purpose.

  • How can i tell which device made the itune purchased

hi every one i just want to know how to tell which device made the purchased in itune thanks.

Not much you can do...unless the bill indicates the class of device, such as iPad, so you can narrow it down.
If all have access to the same accounts using the same credit cards and do not have to identify themselves, there just isn't much you can do to tell who did the download.

  • Is it possible to control which devices connector to which router

I have an dual band (N/G?) AP extreme with what I guess is a N-band AP express extending the network.
When I open airport utllity and select each device it gives me a list of devices connected to each router.
We have 2 ipods, 3 iphones, 1 ipad and 1 imac and 1 apple TV connecting among each of the devices.
The apple TV is connected to the airport express.  Does this mean it is operating at less than G speed and could it be the reason why my streaming to apple TV is slow at times?
Can one control which of the two routers, extreme or express the various devices in our house connect to?

Never mind, i figuered it out. "RunState.Caller" were setting values in the wrong sequence.

  • Multiple users on one apple account.  How can I see which devices were used to purchase apps?

I share my apple account with my three children.  Inappropriate apps were purchased.  Everyone denied making the purchase.  Is there anyway I can find out which device made these purchases?

If only one of them purchased the app(s), wouldn't it only be on that one device (plus the computer's iTunes library if you have automatic downloads turned on)?

  • Can you control which devices are on network

Is there an application to control and monitor the Airport Extreme Base Station Network?
I'd like to be able to shut down access to, for example, my kids' devices at night without shutting down the whole network.

Timed Access in AirPort Utility will allow you to control individual devices and the times that the device is allowed to connect to the wireless network.
For example, you could setup Junior's iPad to be allowed to connect to the network Weekdays between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Junior would not be able to connect to the network at any other times than those listed.
Another device could be setup to have access to the network Weekdays between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, and so forth.
Devices that do not have a specific rule set up for them are allowed to connect to the network at any time.
