You can use 3rd party apps like iTransfer.

  • How do I import photos from my iPhone 5 to my new computer?

My old iMac was having HD issues when I became concerned about my iPhoto library, with several thousand pics. I backed up my old HD, then when I got my new iMac, I restored all the files, but not all the apps, since I think old apps were slowing things down. When I opened the new desktop, I found an iPhoto 1 library, that had popped up on my old Mac. I don't have any sign of my original iPhoto library, with the thousands of pics. However, I still have my pics on my phone, and I'm sure they must be on my backup drive. Any idea how I can import photos from my phone, or from a backup?
    Thank you!

First thing sfirst: get your iPhoto Library from the old machine to the new one, and working.
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Then import your photos like you always did.

  • How can I recover photos from old iphone icloud backup to new one?

Hello, I had an iPhone 4 which I lost and inside there were some great photos that I want now to recover. In the meanwhile I bought an iPhone5S and I just realized that inside the iCloud backup menu is saying that there is a backup of 3GB of my old iPhone. How can I see if in that backup the photos are there? I have connected my iPhoto App to iCloud but it only finds photos from my new iPhone and not the old one...
    Thanks for your time.

Hi, Tiago, maybe you can get help from data recovery software. Now things get easy now.
As far as I know, there are three ways to recover deleted contacts and photos from iPhone 5 with iPhone Data Recovery.
Way 1: Recover deleted photos from iPhone directly
Way 2: Using iTunes Backup to recover deleted photos
Way 3: Using iCloud Backup to recover deleted photos
You can refer the way 3 of how to recover deleted photos from iPhone to recover photos from  old iPhone iCloud backup.
    Good luck to you.

  • How do I copy photos from an iPhone 4S to my PC?

    Platform:  iPhone 4S, IOS 6.0.1
I wish to transfer all photos stored on my iPhone to my PC.  Whether I use a Windows-based wizard, Adobe Photoshop, or Windows Explorer to read and copy files and folders, I can only access a small protion of the total library stored on my phone.  According to my iPhone's usage details, 4.7 GB of photos are resident on my phone; 225MB reside in Camera Roll; and 3 KB of data is allocated to Photo Stream (essentially, an empty store).
I've searched Apple's on-line support articles and forums, and the Web for advice.  Most of that advice seems to indicate photos must be placed in the Camera Roll album of my iPhone before they can be transferred to my PC.  This seems consistent with my finding that the DCIM folder on my iPhone (accessible in Explorer) contains files that correspond to the photos in my Camera Roll.
If photos must be present in the iPhone's Camera Roll before transfer to a PC, how do I place them there?  I've opened photos stored in my various photo albums and tapped the options button, but no option to send to Camera Roll is available.  Surely, there must be an unencumbered method that will allow me to retrieve my photos for cataloging and editing on my PC, beyond posting several hundred individual files to Facebook, or sending them via email.  Besides the obvious tedium of sending hundreds of files individually over the Internet, those methods compress the original file and decrease resolution.
Finally, before I upgrade the IOS, I want to be assured beyond any doubt that I have all of my full-resolution photos on an alternate, personal device for later unrestricted retrieval.  I routinely back-up my iPhone's contents, but even that back-up will at best simply "restore" the problem I already have to another i-device.  At worst - as is possible any time software or firmware is upgraded - data stored on the device could be corrupted beyond recovery.
    What am I overlooking?
    Thanks.

It is assumed that photos in places other than your camera roll originated on the computer and you have no need to transfer them back again since they are still there (or on a backup of the computer). They are of reduced quality anyway.

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How to I copy photos from my ipod classic back onto my pc?

How to I copy photos from my ipod classic back onto my pc? My hardrive recently crashed and the photos on my ipod are the only copies I have! The photos were synced onto th ipod originally - not saved or copied as file transfer.

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. I'm not sure which of the recovery tools can do photos offhand, but unless you chose the option to include full res. originals when you loaded the device then what they extract will be fairly low res. If you did opt for full res. then they should be visible on the iPod's drive when viewed in disk mode.

  • How do I copy photos from my Mac to my iPad without deleting the ones that are there?

I understand how to sync photos from my iPhoto library to my iPad. I want to copy photos from my Mac to the iPad without syncing, because syncing deletes everything on the iPad that isn't included in my sync selections. In addition,I have several iPhoto libraries and want to copy photos from each of them to the iPad. A further issue is that apparently photos can be synced from only one computer to the iPad -- how would I copy photos from a different computer? (What happens when I buy a new Mac?) I am extremely experienced with Mac, iPhoto/Aperture, iPad, etc. A year or two ago I transferred 1000 photos to the iPad but I don't remember how, and it was probably done with my previous Mac. Now I just want to add some recent photos without deleting the ones that are there. Bottom line: is there a way to add photos to an iPad without syncing and losing what's there?

You can still sync the photos and keep the photos that are already on the device. You have to include all of the albums or events in the pictures folder that you sync from. If you are using iPhoto, select that in the Sync Photos from drop down menu and then select all of the albums or events that you want to sync. Make sure to check Selected Albums, events, faces and automatically include (no events). Using that option will allow you to choose exactly which albums and events to sync.
You have to remember that all photos must be included in every sync so you cannot sync photos from iPhoto today and then try to sync photos from another folder tomorrow, or you will erase all of the photos that were synced from iPhoto. You need to maintain one main Photos syncing folder for the photos that you want to transfer to the iPad. You can have subfolders within that one main folder and you can selectively sync those subfolders. You just have to place all of the photos that you want to sync into one main iPad syncing photos folder.
There are WiFi transfer apps that allow you to transfer photos to the iPad without having to sync with iTunes. I use this one. This app (and others like it) will allow you to use multiple computers to transfer photos.

If you are in thumbnail view in the Camera Roll, tap the Edit button in the upper right corner. Tap the photos that you want to add to the existing album. Tap - Add To - in the upper right corner and then tap - Existing Album.
You can only add camera roll photos to albums that you have created on the iPad. You cannot add them to albums that you synced from iTunes.
