MMS Update from 3.1 - Unable To Restore Error - Phone Dead.
Ok, I just tried to do the MMS update from 3.1 and now when I plug it in it says that it needs to be restored and all data will be lost. Before trying to do the MMS update downloaded latest iTunes, then plugged in the phone and did the download and update. Now I try to do the restore but it errors before complete every time.
What do I do know got to have this thing working and I readlly don't want toose all my data?I had the same issue. I have a 16GB 3G. I tried everything Apple suggested and then some. I had to download the 3.0.1 firmware and restore from that. I even took it to the Apple store after I put 3.0.1 back on and they had the same problem. My phone is out of warranty, so my only options are pay Apple for a new phone or live with 3.0.1 without being able to upgrade. This is the option that I chose. If your phone is under warranty, take it to Apple, they will replace it. I would not suggest restoring the firmware if you are still under warranty.
If you choose to restore using 3.0.1, just download the firmware from the internet and then hold the Shift key while clicking on the Restore button in iTunes. That worked for me so that at least my phone is working and is no longer in paper weight mode.
Sorry, I wish I had better news, but at least that will get you up and running again. I have noticed that the hard reset has worked for some people on here, (hold down the home and sleep buttons for about 10 seconds or so) but that would not work with my phone. I tried everything. I tried the update on four different computers both Mac and Windows. (Make that 5, the Apple store was #5). I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes on two of the computers. I tried using an old version of iTunes as well as the updated version of iTunes. I tried everything, the only thing that worked was going back to 3.0.1. There is actually a post on here that describes how to get MMS on 3.0.1 without upgrading to 3.1. Since my phone is out of warranty, I have nothing to lose.
Good luck... -

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support. -
I am unable to sync my iphone to my computer. Music purchased on iphone will not transfer to my computer. I've gone through the sync process but nothing happens.
You don't need additional iCloud storage to sync photos.
You need to sign in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on both devices and enable Photo Stream.
Settings > iCloud > Apple ID - sign in then enable Photo Stream.
Photo Stream holds 30 days of photos on the server so anything on either device older than that won't sync. Additionally, you can only hold 1000 Photo Stream photos on your iOS device (the oldest will be replaced with the newest). To preserve these photos, they need to be saved to your Camera Roll and transfered to your computer. -

I am getting a restore error of 4005. I have disconnected all USB cables from my iMac. I am unable to restore the phone to factory settings. My computer starts extracting software, then I get the error 4005. I reboot and try again, I get the 4005 error. I see a Samsung device in my near future. Totally frustrated with this...

I was instructed by I Tunes to restore my Iphone 4 - ITunes has since said it is unable to restore. I am now left with a black screen with Itunes logo on it and a picture of the charger attachment at the base of the screen and I am unable to do anything now with the device. I think I may have lost all of my information on the device too ~ can anyone help please?
You have lost all your data, but hopefully you were backing it up with iCloud or iTunes. You can try this:
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings. -
Got a new phone. Took pics on vacation with new phone. Wanted to sync old phone with new phone. Restored old phone to new phone, not realizing it would erase new phone content. Is there any way to get that info back? Thought i had performed a back up, but am unable to find it. HELP
With a backup yes, no backup then no.

Hi I have an iPhone 4 and suddenly it stopped working. Could here notifications and nothing on the diisplay. Wake up button on top is not working. so unable to restart the phone. Wanted to try restore from iTunes but Find my iPhone (iCloud) is on. How to recover or restart my Phone
Follow these steps to log into your iCloud account on your computer and deactivate "Find my iPhone" on your device:
Remove an iOS device or Mac on which you can’t turn off Find My iPhone
If you can’t turn off Find My iPhone on the device, turn off the device so it goes offline, then remove it from Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.
Note: You can also remove your iOS device by first erasing it—just follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you don’t have. You can later restore the device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.
Turn off the device you want to remove.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find on another computer with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account. If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete button next to the device. If the device comes online again, it will reappear in Find My iPhone. If your device reappears, turn off Find My iPhone on the device (follow the instructions above for removing a device by turning off Find My iPhone), or if it’s an iOS device and you no longer have it, follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you no longer have.
Remove an iOS device you no longer have
If you no longer have the iOS device because you gave it away or sold it, you need to remotely erase it before you can remove it.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device.
Click Erase [device], then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message.
Note: If you’re trying to erase a family member’s device, that person will need to enter his or her Apple ID password on this device. If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account. All your content is erased, and someone else can now activate the device.

I just restored my phone, however I have to sign into icloud and the phone is set to the previous owner's email and password. I am unable to get in contact with them. What can I do?
Please help!Hello codyfromseminole,
After reviewing your post, I believe your device is under Activaltion Lock. The following article will provide you with more information about the feature:
iCloud: Activation Lock
With iOS 7 or later, Find My iPhone includes a feature called Activation Lock, which is turned on automatically when you set up Find My iPhone. Activation Lock makes it harder for anyone to use or sell your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if it’s ever lost or stolen.
With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can:
Turn off Find My iPhone on your device
Sign out of iCloud on your device
Erase and reactivate your device
Important: Make sure to remember your Apple ID and password, and that your password is unique and secure—someone else shouldn’t be able to guess it. For more information, see the Apple Support article Security and your Apple ID.
If you want to give away or sell your device, be sure to erase your content and settings (in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). When you erase your content, Find My iPhone and Activation Lock are also turned off.
If you no longer have the device, follow the instructions to remove a device you no longer have. For more information, see the Apple Support article What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
For more information about Activation Lock, see the Apple Support article Find My iPhone Activation Lock in iOS 7.

my 4 digit password is not being recognized on my phone AND i am unable to restore my iphone on my old PC, can an apple store restore my phone and unlock it?
Contact Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 to find out. But they will most likely tell you what you already know...it needs to be restored against the computer is was last linked with.

I have recently restored my phone to unlock it. I have installed the latest version of IOS. Since then, I have not been able to play the music I have purchased. The scrolls or flips through the songs and I am unable to listen to them. Can anyone help?
iTunes is quite friendly, and very powerful.... You probably just need to set up automatic syncing in iTunes.
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Select the iPod there.
To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown. Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary. Click on Music next to Summary. This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. This setting enables automatic syncing for music. If your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres. From the lists below, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod.
Here's one convenient way to set this up. In your iTunes library, create one or more playlists. Add the ALL the songs you want on the iPod to those playlists. OR, you can use existing playlists. Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists. (You can select other items on those lists, if desired.)
When you click Apply, the songs in your selection sync to the iPod. Going forward, to update your iPod (add/remove songs), just update those playlists in your iTunes library. The iPod does not need to be connected. The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes.
NOTE: On the bar of buttons that starts with Summary, click on the other buttons (such as Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.) to set up syncing for those iTunes media categories.
