HT1386 I can't sync any new playlist, or update songs to a playlist, "smart" or not!

Since mid-November 2013, my playlists on my phone have been frozen in time.
I cannot:
Sync new playlists from my PC to my iPhone5 - smart lists or not.
Sync edited + existing playlists via sync from my PC to my iPhone5 - smart lists or not. Existing lists stay unchanged.
Uncheck existing playlists from iTunes on my PC and sync them off my iPhone5. They stay put.
I can:
Play the frozen playlists that I have
Create new playlists on the iPhone5 and sync them back to iTunes on my PC
Sync individual songs both ways between my iPhone5 and PC. All song files are present and playable, including new song purchases from my phone via Shazam, song purchases directly from the iTunes store on the phone, and songs bought through iTunes on my PC.
I do not:
Use iTunes for content other than music
Use Match. Well, I really don't get why people would use Match, or why it comes up in the forums when I looked up similar problems to mine.
I have tried:
Rebooting the phone
Rebooting iTunes on my PC
Verifying that I have the latest updates
Turning Match on
Turning Match back off
Verifying that all songs that I want on said playlists is "checked" on iTunes in the artists, albums, genres, songs, etc. sections
Anyway, I just want to be able to send playlists - ANY playlists - to the phone. I have no idea what to try. My wife has the identical problem as me with her own iPhone 5 and iTunes installed on a separate PC.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I did a system restore on my computer.  When I had it up and running again, I downloaded the latest version of itunes.  Now I can't sync apps to my sons ipod.  What can I do to fix this?

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing and follow the instructions.

  • HT1386 How can I sync only selected playlists from my library in iTunes to iPhone?

Option to sync only selected playlists is grayed out in iTunes for my iPhone. How can I make it so I don't have to sync my entire library?

    know this might sound silly
    but make sure that
    1) sync music is checked
    2) you have playlist with songs in them
    3) your songs have some sort of sorting form on them (artist, genre, album, etc.)
    also try
rebooting pc and device and reconnecting
if all else fails, redownload itunes

I can't get Apple Software Update to work, it says "Fatal error during installation". If I try an install Adobe Reader, it gets to the end, then says it was interrupted and cancels the install. Any idea how I can fix this?

Have you tried deleting the apps in question? Tap and hold until they wiggle, then tap the X to delete. Next try re-downloading them, one at a time.

  • How can i sync my old playlist to my new iPod shuffle?

How can I sync my old playlist to my new iPod shuffle?  Everytime I try to sync it I get the little pop up box that asks if I want to transfer and delete what new songs I have already downloaded.....i know it has something to do with sharing music libraries but not sure how to do this....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    You don't.
If you do not have your contacts, then you cannot sync your contacts.
You should ALWAYS maintain a backup copy of your computer.

  • Since updating itunes to version 10 my ipod classic will not sync any new music that I have added to itunes, can anyone help

I recently updated iTunes to version 10.3.1.55. Since then when I try to sync my IPod classic it says on the top of iTunes (where the barbers pole is) "Step 1of1 Determining Tracks to Sync". This stays like that for about 15 minutes before a message pops up saying "Itunes could not copy ""song title name here"" to the Ipod because an unknown error occurred (-50)". This message pos up for every song title that has been added to itunes since the itunes update. Therefore I am unable to sync any new music. This only happens when syncing the ipod as the iphone syncs with no problems.
Does any one have a solution?

So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.
Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

  • I can't create any new reminders on my iPhone 5S with iOS 8.

    Hi.
I have a 16 GB iPhone 5S with iOS 8.1.3. The problem I have is that I can't create any new reminders, at all. The problem started with my iPhone 4 (which I had before this phone), and I was using iOS 7 when the problem arose (but it didn't start immediately after I switched to iOS 7).
One day when I had the iPhone 4, I noticed that all my reminders had disappeared, and that I couldn't create any mew ones because the New List + button is grayed out. I didn't try to fix it until I got my 5S. I got to the "Scheduled" list and was able to type in a reminder (I thought I was a genius). But then when the time I'd set for the reminder actually came around, nothing happened, and when I checked Reminders, the reminder I'd entered was gone.
I tried using Siri to set a reminder but she said she couldn't.
I've tried Googling it, but it just says to press the + button to make a new list, and then start typing.
I recently got a MacBook Air which I synced up to my phone, and all my old reminders from my iPhone 4 are there, and I can create new reminders. Except they don't show up on my phone (which I think they're supposed to do, right?). They do show up on my computer, though.
I've taken to emailing myself things I need to remember, which is fine, I guess, but sometimes they get buried in my inbox.
    Any help would be fantastic!
Also, if you'd like me to clarify anything, I'm happy to do so because I don't know how much sense this makes.
    Thanks so much!

I have exactly the same problem. I discovered it yesterday.
I have a 16 GB iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.2, just to note that we both are using different devices and different iOS versions. I will add here some screenshots of the problem.

Since i updated to the new iox my phone wont sync with new playlists. how do i do it? need it done by midnight!

If you are syncing manually, you'll need to manually drag this playlist over and onto your iPhone from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes.
Apps can not be managed manually.  You'll need configure them to sync to your iPod.  See this article for more instructions and information.
