i need to back up from my icloud to my iphone I have a work I phone and it is backing up that phone to my personal phone and I have lost my contacts. My icloud shows I last backed up at 7:43p.m. how do I get that back up to sync on my phone

If your data is more than 5 gb then you will need to purchase more storage space. Icloud will tell you how much space is needed.
If you don't want to purchase more space, then backup to iTunes http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

Restoring back-up problem

I bought a new iphone from a friend. I did a back up from the old one on my computer (only lan connection) and now with my new iphone i cannot restore my backup. He tells my pasword is wrong, but i always had the same pasword. Is there another problem maybe?

I did'nt do an i-cloud back up, but an Itunes back up, exactly like the description on the link you gave me. I can still see that my backup has been made today at 12h37. When i want to restore it, it gives a pasword error.
I'm breaking my head on this annoying issue.
Is there a 24h support line of apple maybe?

Can I recover an older i-Cloud back up? One of the so called "Genius" at an Apple store backed up the "restored" info on my iPhone without telling me until after he had completed the process. I had already backed up to iCloud prior to restoring my iPhone 5 (nothing but problems with this phone). I have a back up on my PC from February 2013 but have since added contacts and photos/videos.

You can check it by going to storage and back up under icloud and clicking manage back ups.

How did you delete the Note? If you did a "select all" and "cut", open the Note and shake your iPhone to undo the cut action.

iOS devices do backup automatically to iCloud providing:
iCloud Backup is turned on
It has a Wi-Fi connection
It is connected to a power source
The screen is off
5GB is plenty of storage for me to backup to iCloud automatically.
I have a 64GB iPhone & a 128GB iPad both backing up to the same iCloud account and I still have nearly 2GB free.
This is mainly because media is not backed up and Photo Stream & iTunes purchases do not count against your iCloud storage.

If you are on MAC Open Activity Monitor and check for Creative Cloud, it it Running Quit it
MAC HD /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor
If you are on Windows check in task manager
Ctrl + shift + Esc keys

A quality externally enclosed hard disk drive setup for use with a
full system clone, to boot & run a Mac from a copy, is a fine idea.
{carbon copy cloner - bombich software? one of the better bets}
So far, in my several years experience with computers, I'd rather have
access to the backup hardware devices and perform manual ones, too
than rely on some remote servers, over thousands of miles of distance.
Helps to also have a backup computer, a duplicate to run the clone, etc.
Perhaps someone will recommend one of the advertised carbonite or
other brands, however I fail to be impressed by gadgets & gimmicks...
Though some may be fun, I don't have time for fun or wasted expense.
Some other users who contribute here may have fast internet access
of a reliable nature, and have committed a larger portion of their digital
live's work to the 'cloud' but from my experience, clouds are weather.
You can dress for it, marginally predict it; & find a dry/warm place to wait.

A reset should help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. Release both buttons and await restart.

Are you plugging in every night, locking the iPad and connected to WiFi? Are you meeting all three requirements?
Well that is what I do and it works for me because I can see the next day that the new backup shows in Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Backup Now. If you look at my screenshot - you will see that I experimented to make sure that it would work. I responded on July 3 at 12:24 PM when you posted. Then I locked the iPad, plugged it in and waited for about 30 minutes before I unlocked the iPad to see if it backed up. The screenshot shows the backup was completed at 12:44 PM on July 3.
I also backup with iTunes and I almost never auto backup. I just initate the back up on my own. But the instructions that I posted are right from the settings. You can read it for yourself in the screenshot.
You do have to wait for at least 24 hours before the next backup will take place, but if you are getting a message that you haven't backed up a week later, I can't explain that.
Dont trust that message. Look and see what the date of the last backup was. That's the only way to know for sure.
