HT1386 I keep geeting a 'connection could not be established to this iPhone' message when trying to sync.

I keep getting a 'connection could not be established with this iPhone' message when I try to sync, even thos I can see my iPhone 5 in iTunes & have tested the link by manually transferring songs from iTunes to the iPhone. Can anyone help?

I am also getting this error with two iPad 2s and an iPhone 5. All are on iOS 6.0.1 and this is with iTunes 11 on a Windows 7 PC. I also have an iPhone 4 that does not seem to have an issue that I can tell. When I plug in the iPhone 5 and one of the iPads, it will start to to sync and right at the end I get that message. It will, however, still continue to sync the device after the error message pops up. With the one iPad, which is rarely connected to computer, it will find the iPad via wifi when iTunes is opened, but I will get that message when it is performing its initial sync.
While I kept having sync issues when using iTunes 10.7, this is a new issue for me. I was also getting a lot of warnings that the iPhone or iPad could not be synced because the connection was lost even though the iPad and iPhone were connected via USB cable. In those cases, the sync would just abort. I have not gotten that error though in two days. At the time to resolve that issue, I needed to disconnect the USB cable, reset the iPhone/iPad, and then reconnect the USB cable.
I really wish Apple would figure out these sync issues.

  • HT3805 buy book feature not working "a connection could not be established at this time etc...." How do I fix this? I am running Mountain Lion with Aperture 3.3.2

I have the same problem as many of you on this forum,
Aperture will not allow me to buy a book. It says a connection could not be established at this time.
I have a 2011 17in MBP, running Mountain Lion, Apertaure 3.3.2 purcahsed from the App Store, a 100Mb network connection, based in Staffordshire UK. It acts the same over wifi or ethernet, e.g a connection could not be established at this time.  It makes no difference if I am signed into the App store or not.
I have spent 5 days preparing my Wedding album images for a 30 page book with lots of adjustments, therefore, I am desperate to fix this and as I paid £55 for the software I want it to work.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards
    Tim

I still don't know what happened to my test Aperture Library after the update to 3.4...Not only were my previews lost, but so were the original images!  Needless to say, I haven't bothered to update the main library on the Mac Pro because I don't want to deal with this level of uncertainty (even with backups in place).

  • "A connection could not be established at this time."  Book Ordering Issue

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have not been able to Buy a Book via Aperture. Whenever I click on the Buy Book Button I get the following error message:
"A connection could not be established at this time. Please ensure your network connection is active and try again." The network connection is fine etc etc.
I tried creating a new user account but this did not solve the problem. I have opened iphoto and the same problem exists there. Apple help desk want to charge me £180 to fix a problem which will allow me to spend more money ordering books with them. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Apparently there's some extensive maintenance taking place which affects the ordering segment - I'm running into the same issue. I'm guessing it might be back up later this evening. Will try then.

  • A connection could not be established at this time

I've been trying for the last three days to order some prints --- (which I've done MANY times in the past).
Aperture appears to be uploading everything but ultimately stops and tells me "A connection could not be established at this time"
I'm fully connected (proof, you're reading this message!) and so I have no idea what's wrong.
Can't find anyone at Apple to call for help.
    Any ideas?

I just had this same problem. I have spent the last 7 days working on my print order. I am running Aperture 3.3.1. There are a lot of people out there that have had this same issue. This is what I was able to determine while on the phone with Apple Print Service Support.
    (1) Check the number of images you have selected for your order. I had an order with 152 images (almost 300 prints) and it failed to order. I had broken that order into another order with 101 images and it was successful. I had another order with only 74 images and it was successfull. In both success cases I had more than 152 prints made. The first was 154 and the second 165 prints. So it is not the number of prints, but the number of images.
    (2) Wifi. I was informed that some people have problems with WIFI connections. I was on a hard line, or ethernet connection. So this was not my issue. I thought I would mention it because it was discussed.
    (3) Close all other applications. This might help to free up resources on the computer and make the process go a little smoother.
    (4) Check the Activity window. Go to Window>>Show Activity. This will open the Activity windows. If your order is not displayed in there with a status of Uploading, then the order never left the computer. This was the real issue I was having. I got this error after the order preperation was completed. I was never able to press the done button because of the error. The error also caused the upload to cancel. It is very frustrating because there were no places in Aperture to determine more regarding the error, or the status of the last order submission. Would be nice if the Activity windows showed that order as failed.
    (5) Size and mixed orders. I noticed (in my second 74 image order) that with mixed order sizes it takes a lot longer to process. I had several 8x10 and 5x7 prints. As well as 4x6 and wallet images. This complex order of print sizes caused the smaller image count order to take a lot longer to go from start to finish. It would appear the 8x10s may have contributed to that because of their size.
    (6) Hate to bring this up. It is not really related to the problem, but make sure you crop your images to the correct aspect ratio before ordering. I did not have this problem, but have made that mistake in the past. You cannot select an image that is formated for 4x6, print it as a 5x7 and expect it to come out normal and perfect. Crop them first. This creates another problem. The order application, tool, window (what ever it is called) does not provide indications of what the image is being displayed. Another words I have the same image as a 4x6 and 8x10. I rename the image to duplicates to have the aspect ratio in the name. However, in the order tool there is no way to view the file name. You can have two images that look very similar (5x7 and 8x10 for example) and not be able to determine which is the correct aspect ratio for the print selection. To work around this problem I had to print a contact sheet of those images as a pdf and then have it open while I entered my order. When I ran into this situation I would compare the order window image to the contact sheet and figure out a good guess for the image. At least it is better than not being able to see anything.
Hope all this helps. Hopefully something will help you get your order done. I think that both (1) and (6) are software defects in Aperture. I think that Apple should fix those issues. That does not mean that they will be investigated, but I believe this problem you are experiencing, and I did too, is a software defect.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • I cannot BUY any iPhoto products. Every time I try to submit something, I get an error message - A coonection could not be established at this time - I have been trying to buy a photo book for 2 days now with no success. I am using iPhoto 09

I cannot Buy any products from my iPhoto 09. Every time I try to submit something, I get an error message - A connection could not be established at this time. There is nothing wrong at all with our internet connection, and I have been through all the suggestions on the Apple help page, and spent 2 hours on the phone this morning getting passed round various call centres. They claimed they had not heard of this problem before. I successfully purchased a calendar in Dec with no problems at all - so I just don't understand!

Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
then boot into safe mode and try again

  • I keep getting "the network connection could not be established" error message when trying to update my iPads and iPhone to iOS 5.1

I keep getting "the network connection could not be established" message when trying to update my iPad, iPad2 and iPhone4 devices using either my iMac or MacBook.  The Macs and iOS devices are apparently working correctly otherwise.  Problem started about a day ago when I connected one of the iPads to my iMac and iTunes notified my of an update for the device.  I tried and got the above message.  Tryied other iPad2 and iPhone4 and get the same message.  Also, get same message when trying to update using the MacBook. My system SW is 10.7.3 on the iMac and 10.6.8 on MacBook.  iTunes is version 10.6. Have gone thru the check list of things to check and have re-started. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Another user named Springbk posted a fix that worked for me as I was having the same problem today:
I Changed my DNS settings to OpenDNS
On a Mac go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES>NETWORK>ADVACED>DNS
    change DNS by adding ( + )
    208.67.222.222
    then
    208.67.220.220
click okay/apply after. then try the update. after the update, just delete the two open DNS server numbers. should revert back to your old one.

  • I keep getting the follow error messages when I try to sign into iTunes store or redeem a song code: We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again

I keep getting the following error messages on my Mac when I try to redeem a song code: "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later."  and then, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50)."

    Hello, constance132.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I could recommend when receiving error -50.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

  • HELP!  I keep getting this message "network connection could not be established."

I just updated my iPhone 3GS but when I try it with my iPad 2, I keep getting this message, "There was a problem downloading the software for the "iPad".  The network connection could not be established.  Can anyone please tell me what to do?  Thanks.

    Cheryl and Hmariepugh-
The problem may be at Apple's end due to the large number of people trying to update at the same time.  I suggest you keep trying.  Perhaps it will be easier during early morning hours U.S. time, before 10 AM GMT.

  • My phone keeps saying "cannot connect to the store. A secure connection could not be established.

My I phone keeps repeatedly coming up with:
Cannot connect to the store. A secure connection could not be established. Please check your Date & Time settings"
What does this mean and how do I fix this as I am trying to update my apps and they have stopped at the 'waiting' status as it cannot connect meaning I cannot use my apps.
    Please help!!

    See:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
Also, besides the time and date being correct make sure the time zone is also correct. Also, if yo have iOS 5, make sure date&Time is set to Automatic.

  • Have not been able to update to iPhone softwareversion 5.1. I keep getting the message that the network connection could not be established even though I have been buying apps from iTunes all evening.

I have been trying to update my iPhone4s' software from version 5.0.1 to version 5.1. I continue to get a message from iTunes that a network connection could not be established. I was buying apps for my phone on my computer so I know that my connection is good. I clicked on Help in iTunes and had it to run a network diagnostic and all was good. Are the servers just jammed up with so many people trying to update to the newest software version? Thank you in advance for your time!
    Sincerely,
    PrettyinPinkInk

look around the forum tons of people repport that they can't update
makes you suspect that apples update servers can't meet the depand of too many users
    trying to update at once

  • Trying to update keep getting a message "the ipod software update server could not be contacted Network connection could not be established" using mac OSX. done this with 2 ipod touches??

trying to update 2 ipods but when I go through the process it says "The ipod software update server could not be contacted" "Network connection could not be established". One of the ipods is locked and I don't remember password.

Here's what you can do in case of the forgotten password:
Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to rest the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
