I had this problem just recently.
I discovered that the problem was located here: ROOT / Users / Shared -- if you open that and the "adi" folder has a little red minus symbol in its corner, your permissions have somehow been lost. (If you can't see your root directory, open Finder Preferences and, under sidebar, check "Hard disks." That will make your root drive visible.)
If the "adi" folder has the red minus symbol, right-click the folder and select GET INFO.
Sharing & Permissions is probably set to "System: Read & Write | wheel: Read Only | everyone: No Access"
If so, your user account has no permissions, and that means iTunes can't use the folder properly.
To fix this, first unlock the folder using the padlock icon in the bottom-right corner of "get info." You will have to supply your admin password to do this.
Then click the little + sign in the bottom left corner to add a user, and select your user ID from the list of choices. Give yourself Read & Write permissions. (Alternatively, you could change the permissions of "everyone" to Read & Write; others have done that, but I was leery of doing it).
Re-lock the folder when you're done.
Hopefully that will solve it.

You can try to repair your library. Once you are sure the files are all taken care of, you can sync the phone to remove all of the music and then sync again to add it back. That should take care of the issue.

On my old pc I purchased an exclusive album on itunes. I have uploaded the album on my new laptop and newly created itunes account. when I try to play any of the songs it says it cant be played and needs to be authorized. I can sign in with my aol info (I dont use and dont remember pass) or my appleID info. when i log in with my appleID it says the computer IS authorized but the songs still wont play. How do I get this album/songs to work on my new account?

I have tried to purchase music from other sites such as Tesco Music. In all cases they all require Internet Explorer! Having just switched from a Windows bases pc to an iMac I do not wish to go backwards. How can I buy music from other than iTunes?

If you are referring to Tesco's digital downloads, those are available only in copy-protected Windows Media format and cannot be played on a Mac. Other than the iTunes Store, only those download stores offering tracks in MP3 are Mac-compatible. I'm not sure if there are any available from the UK yet that are carrying major-label content.

I had just recently discovered the option of "My Store" at the very bottom of iTunes which enables customers to view other iTunes stores all over the globe. When trying to purchase music from the Österreich iTunes store, I found I wasn't able to do so. Yes, it's all about copyright and licensing. Currency conversion isn't at issue. In order to purchase music from a particular store, you have to have 1) a valid billing address in the country and 2) a credit card billed to that address or purchase gift cards in that country. It is quite possible that one person could have valid residence and billing information for more than one country. My parents, for a long time, maintained residences in both the U.S. and Canada, so if the iTunes Store had been available, they could have had two accounts, one U.S. and one Canadian.

I recently took my MacBook Pro 2011 to the Genius Bar because I was having issues with the logic board. Unfortunately the computer would freeze, emit three continuous beeps and basically render it useless every time I turned it on. Thus I was unable to do a more recent back up before taking it into the store. The first time I took it in, they said that the RAM and the logic board looked fine after running system diagnostics. They held onto it for about a week and when I got it back they had said that it was simply an operating system issue and that they had wiped it and reinstalled Mavericks instead of Yosemite which I had been running previous to my issues. However as soon as I took it home, the issues persisted and so I returned to the Genius Bar in hopes that they would see that the logic board was having issues. This time they sent it off to Texas to have all of the faulty parts replaced for a flat rate which included my logic board and optical drive. When I picked it up the lady at the Genius Bar said, "Good news, we didn't have to touch any of your files so they should all be on the MacBook." Alas they had already been wiped in an attempt to fix my laptop that failed. So all of my music from CD's as well as mp3 downloads of recordings done by boyfriend and other small artists not purchased from iTunes are gone.

I just got my MacBook Pro 2011 back after having it wiped by the folks at the Genius Bar. With only an old back up from 2 or 3 months ago on my external hard drive, I don't have a lot of my more recently downloaded music saved anywhere. All of my iTunes purchased are easily retrievable from iCloud and what not but mp3 downloads of personal recordings done by boyfriend and other small local bands, mp3's purchased on Amazon, mp3's purchased from Bandcamp, free mp3's from Soundcloud artists, etc. will not sync over to my MacBook. All of these songs are still on my iPhone 6 thank goodness but I would very much like to sync them over to my MacBook. If anyone knows how I can overcome this, please let me know. If the amount of the purchase is close to $21.07, then you need to take into account taxes may be added.
If you go beyond the credit from a gift card the balance will be billed to your credit card account.
