HT1386 I need help with syncing my Ipod

Hi, I recently got a new computer and synced my Ipod to it, but the albums I downloaded with a CD aren't there anymore. I don't have the CD anymore, is there A way I can get them back?

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • I need help with syncing my Ipod that has old music on it.

My mother has an Ipod with music on it from a computer we've had in the past (i'm almost certain the songs were downloaded via cd). We no longer have that computer, and the current Itunes account only has the songs she's bought since then. She's spent several gift cards on the songs, only to realize that syncing those songs would delete her old songs. Is there any way to get the current songs on her current itunes? Please help : /
She obviously no longer has those old cds, so that is not an option.

    Hi jacobfrommt,
I believe that you may be able to acomplish what you are describing by using the Manually Manage option in iTunes. You may find the following articles useful:

    Hello Andrew,
Was the reply I gave you in the other post you made of no help?
I explained that Windows ME is not compatible, but you can get it work with a little messing around, and once again, here's a link on how to do it.
Guide to iPod and Windows ME.
As I said previously though, you won't be able to use iTunes.

I'm unsure about the first question. Do you even have a 7. system and receiver? If you just have 5., you should be able to remap the audio in the THX console.
I do have a sony 7. reciever str de-995 its an older one but its only for my cpu. At first i didnt even have THX installed because it didnt come with the driver package for some reason until i downloaded the daniel_k support drivers and installed it. But it doesnt help in anyway.
I have checked every where regarding the first question and alot of people are having problems getting sound out of there rear channels and the sound being re-mapped to the surround right and the surround left as if there rear left and rear right.
I read somewhere that the daniel_k support drivers would fix this but it didnt for me and many others.
For the second question i assumed it would be becasue of the spidf pass through and that my onboard sound card was inferior to the xfi titaniums. But i wasnt sure and i was hopeing that someone would have a solution for that problem because i miss controlling the volume with my keyboard.

  • I need help with syncing

Hello, I recently downloaded Itunes on my computer for back up reasons. when it finished downloading I had to log off on my user and went on a different one on the same computer. I synced my Ipod touch on this user cuz I thought it would be synced on the entire computer (as you can tell Im not good with computers) then the next day I loged on to MY user on the same computer and went on Itunes but it said it was synced with a different library and I knew if you sync to a different one all your songs will be deleted and I cant do that because I purchased ALL the songs on there. So if there is a simple way to explain it to me that would be great but I was wondering if I transferre my purchases on to the library I want it on then erase and sync will that work or will the songs that I transfered still be erased PLEASE HELP I NEED TO KNOW AND I HAVE BENN LOOKING NON STOP FOR 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT (I know thats not alot but I really need to know what to do)
    Please and thank you

One way to do it, is to go into my computerand open your iPod so that you can see hidden files and folders, and then to select all songs and just simply drag them to the iTunes library.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • I really need help with syncing please?!?

OK, so heres the story. I had a computer that i synced my Ipod to and it had all kinds of music on it. But that computer broke. So I bought a new computer but it wont let me synce with out deleting all of my music on my ipod because it says it can only be synced to one computer or something like that and says would you like to transfure purchases or delet and synce. but the only problem is is that the music on my old computer came from cds that i bought and i know longer have them. but i have news songs and cds i would like to add but also keep all my old music. so if you can help me with this i would truely truely br greatful!
    Thanks.

" So I bought a new computer but it wont let me synce with out deleting all of my music on my ipod because it says it can only be synced to one computer"
    That is correct.
the ipod is not a backup device.  the music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

    I NEED HELP DESPERATELY!!!!!!!!!
    Dell Inspiron   Windows 2000

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes (iTunes 7.0.2.16). To find the version of iTunes you have open iTunes, click Help, then About iTunes. If this does not work then follow the following instructions:
For iTunes Technical support please call 1-800-APL-CARE
    or
Another problem might be that your service pack of Windows 2000 is not the latest version (Windows 2000 Service Pack 4).
I would recogmend getting Windows XP, many advantages over Windows 2000. Especially security and looks wise.

  • Help with syncing my ipod to new computer!!!!!

I got a new computer recently with windows 7 installed. however, it doesn't have my itunes library from my previous computer. This is only on my ipod touch. I have put a few new albums onto my computer, but can't put these onto my ipod; i would sync the ipod with my new library, but i think that would get rid of all the music that's already on my ipod? What i would like to know is how i can get all the music on my itouch onto my computer's itunes library (i'm not bothered about losing the few new albums i've just put on there)
    thanks very much, Simon

Where is your backup? You should always have a backup.
Itunes store does not keep a copy of your music for you. The only way it would be on the new computer is if you put it there. Once you download a song once, then you must keep up with it and move it wherever you want.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:
    Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
When you sync your ipod to a different computer, it will first erase the content from the ipod, then replace it with content from the new computer.

  • Need help with syncing from ITunes to IPOD

Hi. I'm relatively new to ipods but I just got an IPOD mini. Since it only has so much memory(about 4g) I want to sync specific songs, not have Itunes do it automatically. When I clicked on the "manually manage music" I can see it works but only to a certain extent. You have to drag EVERY SINGLE SONG to IPOD in Itunes INDIVIDUALLY!! I cant do that everytime I wanna switch up my IPOD library. I also clicked "only sync clicked items" hoping that in my normal music library, if I click the box to the left of each song that I want to be synced and uncheck the songs I dont want sync'd that would work. Will it? Because that's all I want to do, just sync particular songs without having to drag 1000 songs. Clicking would be so much easier.

Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
A better option to use when your iPod is smaller than the iTunes library is 'Sync Music - Selected playlists'.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano or Mini). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

I have a new laptop with Win 8. I'm able to open my itune library, but not able to sync with my ipod nano.  I would prefer to manage my itunes from my laptop vs our old computer, as this computer is becoming obsolete. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Help! Intalled i tunes and need help with syncing

I have successfully installed iTunes on my compaq cpu (windows xp) and have purchased a couple of audio books. However, when I plug in my Sony MP3 playing to my CPU via the USB cord. My MP3 player icon does not show up on my items tool bar so I am unable to sync it. How do I create the connection between my MP3 player and itunes?
Hope I am making sense! any help would be appreciated..

iTunes for Windows is only compatible with the iPod/iPhone range and the iTunes enabled phones from Motorola. You may be able to get your player working with the aid of a third party helper program. Have a look at this one and see what you think: iTunes Agent -Windows
If your player supports drag and drop through Windows Explorer you can drag tracks from the iTunes Music folder rather than through the iTunes interface. Also remember that many players will not work with AAC (MP4) format at present so if you imported anything from CD into iTunes using the AAc encoder then they will need to be converted to MP3: How to convert a song to a different format

  • Need help with new computer/ipod

Hi i have a new computer and I want to put my ipod music on the new computer I can not figure out how to do this. When i plug into I-Tunes it only wants to sync and erase my IPOD help????

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
