  • Messages from iPad not Synching with MacBook Pro when Powered Off

I have the new MacBook Pro (2 GHz, i7, purchased Feb 2014), 15" Retina running OSX 10.9.4.  I also had an iPad3 (Retina) but just upgraded to the new iPad Air 2 weeks ago.  I do not have an iPhone, but that's next.  I have used the same iCloud account for all devices.
    The issue:
Messages (or message conversations) that I have when using my iPad Air are not synching with the MacBook under certain conditions.
    1) If my MacBook is on, there is no issue. Messages between devices (whether being composed on the iPad or MacBook) synch instantly between devices.
    2) If my MacBook is sleeping, most (but I do not think all) messages sent from my iPad will synch with the MacBook when it wakes up from sleep.
    3) If my MacBook was powered off and I had message conversations using my iPad while the MacBook was off, these messages do not synch with my MacBook after I turn it back on.  BUT, this depends:
         a) if I power on the MacBook shortly after (5-10 min) I had the message conversation on the iPad, sometimes these messages on the iPad will synch with my MacBook after I power it on.
         b) If my MacBook was powered off for several hours after I had a message conversation on my iPad, and then I power on the MacBook, these conversations are not synching on the MacBook at all.
i.e Assume MacBook is powered off.  I have a message conversation on my iPad at 4:30 PM.  If I power on my MacBook at 4:35 PM, the message from my iPad synchs with the MacBook.  However, if I power on my MacBook say at 10 PM or the next day, then the message conversation I had on the iPad DOES NOT synch with my MacBook.
Confused?  So am I.  To complicate matters, I did not have these issues while I had my old iPad 3.  I only starting noticing it when I bought the new iPad Air two weeks ago.  I do not know if this is related.
Another issue:  SOME message conversations on my MacBook and iPad air now appear to get out of chronological order.  In fact, on my iPad air, I received a message at 10 AM (message A) and then had several other messages with this person throughout the day on my iPad (at 11 AM, and then 2 PM).  Later that evening around 10 PM, the original message (message A) was received again as a new message on my iPad (i.e. received a new message notification).  Now, message A appears out of order (it shows the timestamp of 10 AM, but it displays after the messages that came at 11 AM and 2 PM).  Since my MacBook was on, these messages synched with my MacBook, but were (and remain) in the proper chronological order.
Other iCloud apps (calendar, mail, FaceTime notifications, notes, keychain, Photo-stream etc. seem to be synching fine between devices).  One last observation, when I bought the iPad air and restored it from the backup I made from the old iPad 3, everything restored fine from the backup except for Calendar.  For whatever reason, some old calendar entries did not restore on the new iPad.
I have run a myriad of tests (sending messages to myself from both my new and old iPad (even created a new apple ID from the old iPad)) with my MacBook sleeping or powered off for varying amounts of time in order to provide the information above.  I also reinstalled the operating system on my MacBook but this did not resolve the issue.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would be extremely grateful. I have been in contact by phone with Apple support and have them baffled as well, but they are doing their best to help.
    Thanks,
    HankSTL

  • New apps purchased on ipad not synching with iphone 4S.  This a new problem.  No problem in the past

Purchased new apps on ipad.  Purchases did not synch with iphone 4.  Purchases are listed in my itunes account and on my ipad, however, they are mot listed as purchased on iphone 4s.  this is a new problem.  I did not have any probelms in the past wit apps synching with iphone 4.

It does, but I use the SoundNote App because it records audio and allows me to draw diagrams in the document. Any thoughts on syncing the SoundNote files to the mini? I am sure it can be done with a wire, but I have a disability which makes it difficult to plug and unplug cords, so the more I can do wirelessly or through the Cloud the better. Thanks for your help! I am really grateful.

  • IPhone and IPad not synching wirelessly

iPad and iPhone not synching wirelessly or even when connected to iMac. iMac sees and tries to synch but devices not responding. Seem to work fine yesterday. Wondering if I changed something in settings?

I just downloaded the new I tunes and was having trouble getting into the iTunes store. I then noticed that neither my iphone4s or iPad 2 were showing up in the right side list.
The right side list? Where is this area that you are talking about? My iDevices appear on the left side of the iTunes window when iTunes is running. I sync with WiFi.
I charge my iPhone every other day and my iPad every few days so they should synch.  Have it set up in iTunes correctly.
What does charging either device have to do with syncing?
I need to do the synch manually ? Does this have something to do with not being able to get into I tunes store on desktop?  It just hangs
If iTunes just hangs, I think it can be safely assumed that you might not be able to sync.
Frankly I am just a bit confused by your explanation on what is going on with your devices and iTunes.

  • Ipad not synching itunes

Suddently my iPad 3 will not synch with iTunes music . .  I had been able to synch songs and playlists with no problem, now suddenly, the iPad will not update the changes.... I deselect songs, or add new ones, tell it to synch, but the changes are not showing up.... Help please.

    Hello Neil
Change a setting for how it syncs, like enabling Manually manage music and videos. Then drag and drop the music that you want on your iPad.

  • Pages on iPad not synching with iCloud

I have iCloud set up on my iPad. I have iCloud turned on in Pages. However, none of my files are uploading. All the Apple IDs and passwords are fine. Could it be I don't have the cellular plan turned on? I rely on my home wifi network.

OK... here's the low-down from Apple-care.  They put out the update, but it will cause pages (and keynote?, and ???) not to synch with iCloud.  They knew it... they put it out anyway, and it won't be fixed until they do the new, free update to Yosemite sometime later this month.  I did find an end-around though.  E-mail your document to yourself and open it up in pages.  Pain in the posterior... and certainly not Apple-Tech, but it is a workable solution until they fix their blunder.  Oh... did you update your iPad to 8.0.1 and it mess you up?  They pulled that and sent out 8.0.2.  Wow... I'd think i was back in PC land... Not cool.

  • HT1386 IPad not syncing

My IPad does not finish syncing with my PC. The IPad appears on iTunes and I can even access it however it does not finish syncing when it starts. It starts syncing with the notice syncing IPad but it remains at step 2 of 7. It doesn't go beyond step 2. I've left it to stay on for 2 hours but it wouldn't go beyond that step. I have tried syncing over wifi yet the same problem remains.
IPad is very new(just 2 months old). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes yet the problem persist. The problem just started just 2 days ago.

Try plugging the iPad into the power adapter and into a wall socket in order to charge it. Don't try using the computer. The USB port does not supply enough power. If you can get or to recharge -  you will have to restore it in order to unlock it.
You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
    Instructions can be found here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
You will probably have to use recovery mode.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
Follow the instructions exactly for recover mode. It may take a few tries before it works.

  • IPad not synching to iTunes 10.3

    Hi,
I just downloaded 10.3 and plugged in my iPad. It says starting synch but doesn't do anything.
do I need to reset any settings to make this start working again?
this worked fine with the published version of iTunes.
and then my next question would be if this never synchs, is there a way to go back to the previous version?
    thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave:
I've been having similar problems with my 2nd gen iPod nano since updating to iTunes v. 10.3.0 on June 7, 2011.
I noticed that FileHippo posted a new iTunes update for v. 10.3.1 just two days later on June 9th.  I haven't installed the newer version but according to the change log here the new v. 10.3.1 fixes a bug that some users are having synching their iPod.

  • IPad not synching properly

For some reason my iPad doesnt want to sync with iTunes anymore.
It shows as having 4.7gb of Apps installed, but when I go to the App tab, 'Sync Apps' isn't selected and if I choose it, it warns me that everything on  my iPad will be overwritten - what should I do?
Also, if I try and transfer purchases from iPad to iTunes i just get "Waiting for Changes to be applied"
I'm on iOS5 if that helps!?

    Greetings,
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
If the issue persists reset your sync history and try again: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26867.html
If the issue persists reset your sync data from the computer to the cloud (MobileMe) and then try again: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8933.html
    Hope that helps.

  • On an iPad with iTunes, do you know if you can edit/delete all your tunes on your device with a "clear all" button rather than having to delete a song one by one like you have to do on an iPhone if not synching via a MacBook/ PC with iTunes account?

I'm signed up to the Cloud and itunes match - the whole game. But I cam getting annoyed with having to delete songs one by one on my iPhone once dowloaded from the cloud as I only have a 16GB phone....yes I listen to music non-stop!  So, I am thinking about getting an iPAD as I rarely use my MacBook Pro for anything other than surfing and music now...  so the question is:  "On an iPad with iTunes, do you know if you can edit/delete all your tunes on your device with a "clear all" button rather than having to delete a song one by one like you have to do on an iPhone (if not synching via a MacBook/ PC with iTunes account where I know you can clear down and refill with ease)????

    Have you tried

  • IMac contacts do not synch with iCloud, iPhone & iPad contacts do

When I add/modify contacts on my MacBook Pro, the changes do not synch to iCloud, or my iPhone or iPad.  Calendar items and iCloud mail do synch and contactys synch between my iPhone and iPad.  What am I missing?  I have Lion.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

How can I copy my music files to my iPAD. The CDs are currently stored in folders on my PC. Note: Synching via iCLOUD won't work because I have VISTA OS and I need at least Windows 7 or 8.

    Hi ladextr,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  To sync your music to your iPad, first put your music in iTunes as described here:
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1473
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
Once that's done, you can sync the music to your iPad by following this article:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph12313
    Cheers,

  • My Dropbox files are not synching to my iPad. Is this a common problem and is there a fix?

FFiles I store to Dropbox do jot now appear on my iPad Dropbox app. They used to. If I reload Dropbox  then it synchs all but I lose the favourites and when I save my more files they do not synch to this device.

I'm not sure what difference it makes if its a common problem or not but as its a hardware problem it needs to fixed so take it into an Apple store or authorized iPhone service provider and ask them what can be done.
