HT1386 iPad syncing and getting all of iPhones contacts, bookmarks, etc.?

I have an iPhone, my daughter has an iPad and we only have one desktop computer. How does she sync the iPad without getting all of my contacts, bookmarks, etc. We have only one iTunes acccount and prefer not to have more than one. Please advise. Thank you.

I had the same issue with my old iPhone and the 'long & short' of it was that you can't do what you want to do, unfortunately- because it's not a "storage device and because of the way that iTunes works.
BUT..... I found an application that I run on my MacBook Pro that did it FOR me. It's called: "Phone View" I suspect there's a similar app that will do it for you with your iPad. The hitch is, you CAN NOT sync your iPad to iTunes (at least NOT your contacts) until you can fish that info off your iPad first; because, otherwise, iTunes will "replace" the info on your iPad with the contact list on your computer- which, according to your description, is empty. The result would be erasing your contacts.
If I find a iPad version of something like "phone view" (for iPhone) I'll post it here.

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud. If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now). Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.

Launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / View My Account
Click: Edit Payment Information
Make sure you have the correct Security Code.
Then click: Done

I've tried updating the software, reinstalling iTunes, using different ports on the laptop, different cables...just about everything. I have NEVER been able to connect this one device, but all the others are fine. I'm at my wits end. Is there someone out there who can help a relative novice figure out what's going on? Go to settings>messages>send and receive at>you can be reached by iMessages at> Uncheck your phone number and you can select your Apple ID emal address if you want to use that for messages.

When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that. Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

Also when I am trying to connect ipad to my windows PC, it shows, your software is up to date and later starts restoring while updating again. Then automatically it stops to update halfway and I have to repeat the process again and again, still in vain.

Try settings -- messages -- send & recieve and see if your email and phone number are in there and if there is only a check mark next to your email address. If so just check off your phone number and try that.
