HT1386 ipad to iTunes sync questions

We just got a new PC. I downloaded the new iTunes and copied my previous library to the iTunes directory.
But when I was trying to synch my iPad with iTunes (via USB) now, not all of the apps on the iPad synched.
Also...do the photos and videos I take with the photo apps synch to the computer as well? I didn't see them anywhere.

You have to import the camera roll photos to your computer. You can read about it here.

Im not sure if you are saying that apps are in iTunes and did not sync and you can't get them into iTunes from the iPad...
If they are on the iPad and did't move into iTunes - Try using the Transfer Purchases feature in iTunes to get the apps into your iTunes library.

If the apps are in iTunes but did not sync to the iPad, try this.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Apps Tab on the right.
Click on all of the apps
Click on the Sync Apps Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

Can the contact data base be overwritten by an IPad on ITunes sync?

We have two IPad minis and two IPhone5s. My wife has updated and purged msny of the hundreds of contacts on he IPad. We have one user ID. I sync her IPad and her iphone on my Mac Book Pro where the Contact file resides.
How do I overide with her IPad the resident Contact file on the Mac? Does the ITunes sync recognize the different devices and their respective Contact files?
Does the order of syncing impact what is recorded on each device?
I am trying to seperate her contact info from mine. Is that possible?

IPad and iTunes syncing issues

I gave my old computer to my Dad, I need to add my ipad to my new computer. I downloaded the itunes on my new computer, but when I try to sync, it tells me that the ipad is synced with another iTunes library and ipad can be synced with only 1 iTunes library. Is there anyway to unsync with the old computer and sync with the new computer without loosing all the apps and data that I have on my ipad?

The ipad will sync itunes content and pics from one and only one computer at a time. When you sync to another it will indeed erase the current content from the ipad and replace with content from the new computer.
You need to copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of the old computer to the new one.

Syncing Artwork to iPad Freezes iTunes Sync

Hello,
When I plugged in my iPad 2 today to back it up, the sync seems to hang. The message I see in the iTunes window is "Syncing Artwork to 'iPad' (Step 8 of 8) Waiting for items to copy". It has been like this for quite a long time, and I am not sure what is going on. I went to the Devices menu in iTunes, and I checked to see if there was something from my iPad Sketchbook that was trying to sync, but there is nothing in the window.
Am I doing something wrong? I have never had this behavior before.
I am running iOS 5 and Lion.

I don't hav any solution, I'm just chiming in with the same problem. My iPad 2 has been trying to sync artwork all night and hasn't proceeded a bit.
The iTunes window text says:
Syncing Artwork to "<iPad-name>" (Step 6 of 6)
Waiting for items to copy
The iPad has continuously display the sync icon in the upper left corner, but as stated nothing has happened the last 8 hours!
I then tried to eject from iTunes and a warning told me that the iPad was syncing and this would cancel the operation. Knowing that the alleged syncing was not going to complete this century I continued and then unplugged the iPad.
Connecting the iPad again and waiting resulted in the same scenario, but now on a different step:
Syncing "<iPad-name>" (Step 7 of 7)
Downloading Safari safe browsing data
Waiting an hour for this still didn't result in anything.
I'm suspecting that there is something after these steps that are failing. E.g copying purchases from iPad to iTunes?

iTunes 10.5 (141)
iPad 2 32GB Wifi+3G on iOS 5
Having 2 accounts on both iTunes and iPad (one very old, and one MobileMe transitioned to iCloud), both with purchases.

ITunes Sync Question

I have some iTunes sync issues when iphone 6+ is plugged in as far as not seeing Music on iTunes under the Summary list. And when I select Sync it gives no choice to select only certain items and says phone will be wiped.
I already put all the music on iphone a short time ago, and when I selected Music under Summary before all music showed and let me pick what I wanted to sync.
"Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to “Ken's iPhone” from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library."
It has done this and went back to normal, now doing it again. I never synched from any other library. A confusing UI for newbies--:)
My iTunes library contains no purchased songs from iTunes. And when I check the Sync no options come up to just select certain songs. Only all.

the summary is same one you are talking about
if you are saying go to itunes music library before plugging in phone, i cant just select songs that way. there is no option to do that
when i plug in phone and see the "Summary" there is a list below it to include music. If I click on Music no music shows. The Sync All area is greyed out and you see "Entire MUsic Library" is checked by default. If I check the Sync Music box that is when I get the warning it will wipe all music, vides etc and sync all too phone. I don't get offerd the choice to select only certain songs. Same thing on movies. iPhotos works ok and lets me select certain photos, albums.
I did have this working originally as I got all my music, pics, vids on phone. Maybe I changed something in settings. Am new to this.
On the Summary page under Options I have "Sync only checked songs and videos" and "Manually manage music and videos" checked.

IPad mini iTunes sync without Bluetooth??

I have a wifi-only iPad Mini on order for my wife. Her computer is an older iMac5,2 without Bluetooth. Will she be able to transfer/sync her contact data, photos and music using the iMac's USB connection? Would any additional adaptor/'camera kit' be needed for this?

Here are the iPad Mini Technical specs for syncing with iTunes. She has to be running iTunes 10.7 and that requires an Intel Mac. Bluetooth is of no use anyway for syncing purposes.

There are some WiFi transfer apps available in the App Store that will move photos and videos to the iPad from the Mac - assuming that the Mac meets the requirements for those apps.
Without knowing more about her Mac, more than likely, she will not be able to sync with iTunes and may have problems with the WiFi transfer apps of her Mac is that old.

HT1386 iPad Mini not syncing - Goes through steps 1-5 and does not add content

I am absolutly baffled by this one. I cannot seem to get iTunes to sync any conent over.
-The iPad is set up for syncing over the cable as Wifi sync is very buggy
-I've tried different USB ports
-i've restarted iTunes
-Restarted the iPad
-checked and unchecked the content
It is very odd. When I want to add music it the bar at the bottom indicated that this is how much it will fill up on the iPad etc etc. I click on sync and then it goes through it's various steps to determine tracks and then nothing.....
It just simply does not sync anything over even though there is 8GB of free space and plenty of room on the ipad so I know it is not a capcity issue. Any help would be great. Usually a long serving mac user would find a solution but in this case I am puzzeled.

HT1386 ipad calendar not syncing

I know I must be missing something. Feel like I've tried everything and still my iPad calender will not sync with my MacBrook Pro calendar. I have the latest versions of iTunes, set up wi-fi syncing, iCloud settings are where they should be, every time it goes through a sync it indicates the calender is syncing but no new info appears on my Mac (everything else I have set to sync does), I've turned my iPad off and on. Don't know where else to look.

IPad to iTunes sync

trying to sync music from Dell PC to iPad for the first time. It looks like I have connection. The tunes show up on iPad but they are "grayed" and do not play. I've checked and both PC iTunes and iPad are running the current version.

Are you using the Music App, which is natively installed on your iPad to play your music? If you are trying to play them from the iTunes App on your iPad, they will not play there.

IPad 3 iTunes Match question

I'm just setting up my new iPad from scratch. Subscribed to iTunes Match on Mac. iPad keeps saying I don't have subscription.
But - Mac appleID and iPad appleID are two different usernames/passwords. iPad has my username as my me.com mail address. Mac has a different personal email as my username.
Is this the cause of the problem? If so, which one should I change?

Yes this is exactly the cause of the problem. iTunes Match will only work when using the same Apple ID, you have used to buy iTunes Match on your Mac. So you will have to change your Apple ID on your iPad under Settings>Store. Now you should be able to activate iTunes Match under Settings>Music. Hope this helps.

HT1386 Issues With ITunes Sync

For the longest time when I go to sync my phone a selective amount of music just WON'T load onto my phone. I don't know what to do, and it's getting to be extremely bothersome. The only music on my ITunes is music I can't buy on the ITunes store (I'm really good about this), but this isn't the only music that isn't downloading to my phone. Even some of the music that I've purchased won't download, too, and I just CAN'T take it anymore! I have found NO solutions. If it anyone has a solution, help me out?

The reason for your incomplete syncing may be that the bit rate at which your songs are set are too big. The average and accepted bit rate for an ipod is 128kbps. To check your bit rate go to iTunes and select a song by right clicking on it.
Then click Get Info. There will be multiple tabs, but you want the summary tab.
Under the summary tab it has the bit rate.
Also, a higher bit rate than 128kbps will drastically reduce battery life because it takes so much more power to play the higher quality song.
If you are unfamiliar with bit rates basically the higher it is, the more rich and full the sound, making the iPod use more juice to play more sound in a song.(Sorry if that confused you)
If you find that the bit rate is higher than 128kbps then you need to readjust your songs.

Transferring to new IPAD...sync question.

I plan to restore backup from my 1 to my new 2.. I don't want ALL my apps to auto load onto the 2 when I plug it in to Itunes. How can I set this up beforehand so that Itunes doesn't automatically download ALL my apps to my new device? Thanks.

Set up your old iPad as desired, then back up manually by right clicking on it in the device list and choosing "back up". Use this backup to restore the new device from after it got set up by iTunes.

ITunes sync question for 3GS

I was just wondering, since I setup my 3GS off of a back up of my 3G & everything from that phone is on my new one down to the total talk time. Now that I'm using my 3G as a iPod what happens when I sync the 3G? Does iTunes know the difference because of the serial numbers or will I need to dump everything on one of the two devices?

no...you'll be good, it will sync with multiple devices...
just so long as you are logged into the correct itunes account.
i sync 2 iphones, and 2 ipod touches on my mac book pro, but i have to make sure i'm in the correct account... i sync my touch and iphone to one account, and everything works fine...
once the device shows up in itunes, right click it and click transfer, and it will import everything on both devices, then do a back up, you should be in good shape...

I was restoring my ipad and itunes synced now it is telling the ipad may be damaged and to take it to a store. 100 miles away from nearest. I think i did everything correct how do i get the ipad to turn back on.

i was restoring the ipad due to password (which was remembered but was not working) blocking restriction. Decided to restore to original settings and it seemed like it went thru. but when came to end it said to take device to apple store. Can anyone help. I am 80 miles from the nearest store.

Is the iPad charged? Plug it in with the charger/wall outlet for half an hour and try again to reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears.

Itunes syncing question

I have an imac which holds my itunes library. I recently bought a macbook pro notebook. How do I transfer my itunes library to my notebook. Thanks in advance for the help.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Music/ as the path, and move the iTunes folder inside via an external drive or over a network.
iTunes Store authorization won't automatically transfer, and any rented movies in it won't play on the MacBook Pro.
