  • IPod Touch 4th Generation not recognized in iTunes 12

Before iTunes 12, I would always be able to sync my 32 GB 4th Gen iPod Touch (iOS 6.1.6) with no problem at all. After the upload, it is no longer recognized by iTunes. It's connected, but the iPod icon is nowhere to be found. I restarted my laptop, but the same problem occurs. Can I get some help with this issue. Thank you.

  • Can I update Ipod Touch 4th generation  to the New Itunes?

    Hi,
I am trying to put the new Itunes on my Ipod but the more I read, the more I think I may not be able to
based on it running IOS 6 and unable to run IOS 7.  Basically my main complaint with the version
of Itunes on my Ipod presently is the user interface, for as many of you know it has a bit of an issue
sorting artists albums chronologically without putting in the year of the recording in manually.  The new
version of Itunes seems to do this automatically based on what I am seeing on my laptop and Iphone
which are both running it.  But unfortunately my Ipod is stuck with the old Itunes app.  Or is it?  There
is obviously no update waiting for me in Itunes so please don't tell me to do that.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Tom

    Hi Ana,
Thanks for the help.  I probably should have been a bit more detailed in my post.  I would like
the Itunes app that is on my Iphone 5s now to be also available to me on my Ipod 4th generation.
I only included the info on the new Itunes on my laptop as it seems to be the same as my Iphone
in that it now (not previous to this new version) sorts albums chronologically automatically.
It also displays the year of the album in the listings which is also new and appreciated.  Now
if I could just get this on my Ipod....

  • IPod touch 4th generation not recognized in iTunes

I've used ipod touch trouble shooting on line help and am still unsuccessful in getting iTunes to recognize ipod touch (even though it has in the past on this same MacBook Pro)

    - Have you tried here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    - Have you reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Tried another computer
    - Does the iPod work OK?
    - Does the iPod charge?
    - Try another cable
    - Try another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.

  • When i plug in my ipod touch 4th generation i go to itunes and a message pops up that says"this ipod cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started". but my ipod came to the connect to itunes screen

i can not get my ipod to get out of the connect to itunes page , and when i plug it in it says itunes mobile device system is not setup

From what I know from troubleshooting all sorts of screwed-up PC devices, you should try the following steps (I have assumed you didn't try any of them, so plz don't take offence for some "basics"):
    1) Updating the iTunes on your PC, or if it's already the latest, see if you can find the individual install package of "Apple Mobile Device Support" by using Window's Search (the package should be "AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi") and reinstall it (Uninstall the existed one first). If you can't find the individual package, I think you may find a downloadable one online, or if you want to simply the process, just reinstall the whole iTunes.
    2) If problem remains, check if there's any "application/service monitoring function" on your anti-virus/spyware program, and find if "Apple Mobile Device Support" is on its "blocked list", remove this entry when you find it.
    3) Check if there's any "Registry" clean-up software/function in a software, or whether you've altered any apple-related or unknown registry entries. If it's a yes, see if you can find the most recent Registry backup before the iPod connection problem occured. In the case you do not have any backup (Make sure! Almost every Registry clean-up software would back-up Registry before any cleaning process. You can find them in this software's directory), simply use the "system restore" program of Windows to restore your computer to the latest point when iPod's connection with PC was still functioning.
Since we can't find any problems with "Apple Moblie Device Support" from above steps, let's refocus to the hardware part:
    4) Restore the "setting part" to default on you iPod, if you don't want to wipe clean your setting now, try below steps first.
    1) Plug in your iPod to other USB port, if it doesn't work, try plug in other devices to check if there's any problem with your USB ports or USB's drivers on PC. (If there is, try 'roll back' the USB driver's version by entering to its 'property' on right-clicked menu, if still doesn't work, maybe the USB ports are broken-down)
    6) Go over the steps and check if you've tried everything. The latest choice I'd advise is to check if you can find another "USB cable" for iPod and plug-in so you'd know if the original is broken.
Well, that's about all I can think of. Good luck and post your questions if you need any clear-up.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation wont play music

My ipod touch 4th generation wont play music. I hit the play button and it turns into a pause button but the music does not play and the song length thing stays at 0:00. It is brand new and has not been damaged. No songs are greyed out. Certain songs play but most dont. Please help.

I have same issue with iPad3.  all songs play great, both songs I have downloaded and ones on iPad, except 2 albums by same artist that I bought from iTunes.  maybe more, but I have not found any others that seemingly hang exactly as you describe at 0.00 seconds and with pause button displayed.
mindful meditation in everyday life and mindful meditation workshop....Jon-kabat zinn.  I can play these on my iPhone which is on same account without issue.
I also checked console and don't see any relevant messages.
    I have restarted.
I have not restored from backup, but I did do a complete restore a few days ago....I had lost my ipad(left in cart at Walmart), so sent remote wipe command....but got it back!  iCloud restore was perfect.  I takes a while, so hoping to avoid another restore and would rather find the issue.
    please advise.
    thanks,

  • I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1 and my Photos, Videos, contacts, music, App data, etc. was deleted. How can I all the data back?

I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1. I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on a Windows XP Home Edition with the Service Pack 3 installed on the Windows XP (which I believe is the latest version). After updating, I unplugged my iPod from the computer. I saw that all my photos and videos were on my iPod, but there were no apps. A window popped up and told me to enter a passcode for my iPod. I entered a passcode. I then locked my iPod and entered what I thought to be the correct passcode, but my iPod remained unlocked. Desperate, I tried many passcodes with failure. After a while, my iPod became disabled for a long time. I decided to reset my iPod. After I reseted it, I chose to reset from my earlier back up. After reseting, my computer loaded on all my apps. But, when I started using my iPod, I realized all my photos, videos, music, app data (like game saves and high scores), etc. were gone! I have no idea what to do and I am very stressed about this! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET ALL MY STUFF BACK!!!!!!

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I cannot open my apps on my iPod touch 4th generation. Every time I try to open an app it sends me back to the app selection thing.

Try a hard reset first. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try downloading and installing a new app from the App Store.  Doing so has cleared the issue up for several users.
