Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

Are you running Snow Leopard or later?
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and

  • ITunes and my iPod are not syncing

I'm having a few problems with iTunes and my iPod right now. I have the Classic 160GB if that makes any difference.
The laptop my original iTunes library was on died. I tried transferring all the songs off my iPod to the new computer. When I transferred only the purchased songs are showing in the library. The songs I uploaded from CDs are only showing on my iPod.
       2.  I purchased several songs about 2 weeks ago and they will not sync to my iPod; they are only showing in the library. Which leads me into my 3rd problem.
       3.  For some reason, the sync songs manually option is checked, and when I uncheck it I get a message that says if I continue the contents on my iPod will           be replaced with the current contents of the library. (I don't not want this to happen.) Also, when I go to the summary of my iPod and click the music tab             and try to sync that way, I get the same message about replacing contents with current library.
Thanks to anyone that can provide any help!

is your other computer still operational?if it is,do you have a wirless internet connection,or just a modem?

  • HT204406 Since going over to icloud, my iphone no longer shows as a device in itunes and I can no longer sync the phone with the macbook

Since changing to icloud, my iphone is no longer recognised in itunes and does not show as a device nor can I sync it to my Macbook.
    Any suggestions please

Nothing has changed that would affect the way the iPad is recognized in iTunes. Here is the link to Apple's support article on this issue.

You probably have done all of these steps except for....
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier only: Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service.
Here is another troubleshooting article that might help.

  • HT1386 itunes recognizes my ipod but wont sync. I have just done a system restore.

After system restore, ipod wont sync. itunes recognizes my device but sync starts and then abruptly stops.

Are you still signed into your Apple ID on the iPod? Just noticed that you have the iPod classic. Maybe you would be better off posting elsewhere. Try here.

  • Some music on iTunes (and on iPod) no longer plays

    Hello All,
I recently restored my entire music library from my iPod to my freshly formatted computer.
I used CopyTran to perform the operation (http://www.copytrans.net ) - it seemed to work well.
I then noticed some tracks on my computer do not play and promptly skip to the next track...what do you think is the problem?
The problem occurs on my iPod. In both cases no error messages are displayed.
My iTunes music library consists of 4004 tracks - so far i've spotted 17 tracks with this problem.
    Am I able to:
Easily determine what other tracks have this problem?
Replace the "corrupted" track and keep existing meta data? -
This is so I don't have recopy the whole CD. If I import a single track from an album, iTunes does not group the previous ripped album tracks with the new/replaced individual track.
Please help, this is so annoying
    Matthew

Resync the phone in iTunes on the computer. This happens ocassionaly and is normally corrected by resyncing. If you cannot find the purchased music, you can always transfer purchases with the iPhone connected to iTunes.

  • On my mac iBook computer it will not let me update to the latest version of iTunes and I can no longer sync my phone, which is on ios7, what do I do?

So I have a Mac iBook and it says I'm on the latest version of iTunes but when I plug in my iPhone it says that I need a newer version And I want to move music onto my phone, what do I do?

If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to
upgrade the OS X, if the hardware is up to it...
Since there were about nine different build models
of MacBook (not powerpc iBook) to identify what
one you have would be the first step to knowing
what OS X and RAM upgrades it could use.
If the computer is not already at OS X 10.6.8,
it can't go online to get or use OS X 10.7.5. So,
when you more accurately describe the 'Book,
    detailed information is available.
When you find the serial number, there is a web
page that can be used to identify by serial no.
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • My iPad and iPhone will no longer sync to iTunes... help!

My iPod and iPad will no longer sync to iTunes and I have the lastest updates on all devices.

Try one or more of the following
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes (iClarified - Mac OS X - How to Completely Uninstall iTunes (Mac))
    > Reset iOS device (will NOT delete everything) [Settings>>General>>Reset>>Reset All Settings]
    > Restore iOS device (will delete everything)
    > Make sure both iTunes and iOS firmware is up to date.

  • I upgraded my hard drive and my ipod no longer recognizes my computer.  It will not sync. What should I do?

I upgraded my hard drive and my ipod no longer recognizes my computer.  It will not sync. What should I do?

    - First get iTunes to see the iPod:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - The transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For non-iTunes purchased music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPOd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • I updated to the new version of Itunes and now I can't sync my ipod or iphone.  It's not recognizing either in Itunes, but both are charging

I updated to the new version of Itunes and now I can't sync my ipod or iphone.  It's not recognizing either in Itunes, but both are charging.  How can I get Itunes to recognize my devices (that have always been recognized until this latest software update)?

    Hi there bowlerinager75,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article linked below provides troubleshooting suggestions that’ll resolve most issues like the one you described, where your iOS devices are no longer recognized by iTunes on your PC.

  • IPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs

iPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs. I have about 1400 songs and just got 40 more, and before I bought those 40 my iTunes was wiped out. I still had the files so my iTunes was filled up again. Now, when I connect my iPod to the computer it is recognized and then it says "do not disconnect" then after a few seconds it says "ipod update is complete- ok to disconnect". but it did not upload any songs. How can I make it work?

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
Then restore your iPod to factory settings.

  • Yesterday, I plugged in my iPod to sync, and my computer opened iPhoto as it always does. It obviously recognized the device, but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it. Is there a setting I may have accidentally turned off?

and my computer opened iPhoto as it always does. It obviously recognized the device, but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it. Is there some setting I may have accidentally turned off?
Also, today, there seems to be no sound coming through either my internal speakers or my headphones, and not just in iTunes. I doubt these two problems are related, but perhaps there is something beyond coincidence and an old computer?

but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it.
Try reinstalling the AMDS >  iTunes: How to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X
there seems to be no sound coming through either my internal speakers or my headphones, and not just in iTunes
For sound issues check System Preferences > Sound
Make sure the Mute button is not selected.
