HT1386 itunes comes up with message "the iphone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start" no matter what i do it wont sync it
when ever i try to sync my phone itunes comes up with this message. this iphone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start. how do i fix this?
iTunes
The version of iTunes that comes with beta 2 cannot sync devices that have the beta 1 software installed. To avoid this problem, do the following:
Sync any devices that have beta 1 installed to the version of iTunes that came with beta 1.
Upgrade iTunes to the version that comes with beta 2.
Connect the device and install the beta 2 software. (Understand that you might see a failure to sync error when you first connect the device.)
After installing the beta 2 software, restore from your the backup you made in step 1.

Thanks in advance for fixing my problem.I think I remember hearing that if you quit iTunes with your device still connected, then open iTunes up again, it should work.

I am trying to update my Iphone software from 4.2.1 to the latest version.
I have tried restoring itunes, and also the update however the same message pops up at the end of installation.

How can I solve this as it is driving me crazy and is slowly breaking my phone.

im experiencing the same problem rite now. i just bought a 4s for my wife yesterday. when i tried updating the ios to 1.0.5 directly from the phone, it showed - 'Unable to Check for Update. An error occured while checking for a software update. and when i tried updating it via itunes, i got this msg - The iPhone "xxx iphone" could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible.
my internet connection is perfectly ok here. can anybody help me on this?

This often happens when iTunes is not up to date. Try updating iTunes to the latest version, then try updating your phone again.

Was your phone ever locked to a different phone carrier than the one your on now?
If so how was your phone unlocked?

I have read several questions on this but dont see a solution.Activation requires a SIM, assuming the SIM is functional it should simply activate.
The vast majority of activation issues are the result of devices that have been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here. -
