Apple does not support downgrading the iOS. If you try installing an earlier iOS you get the error message. Apple only supports installing/restoring to iOS 6.0.1 on the 4G and 5G iPods.

Hi I have tried putting my Ipad 2 back to its factor y settings and now all it shows is the connect to Itunes symbol on it, Ive connected it many times and when i plug it in it says that my ipad is in recovery mode and I have to press restore, So i press Restore Ipad and click the Restore nd Update button, it then tells me "Extracting Software" and then "Preparing Ipad for restore" and then it just stops and says "The iPad Could not be restored. I have a Windows 8 laptop so i go onto the microsoft help page and do everything it says, update the itunes software and then reset all the Host files. I see you attempted to hosts file troubleshooting, did you try the steps pertaining to firewalls and security software? If not, I would definitely give those a go:
Address TCP/IP filtering, firewall, or security software
If you have TCP/IP filtering, firewall, or security software installed on your computer, follow these steps.
1. Follow these steps to configure or temporarily uninstall your security software.
2. Bypass your Internet router. Some routers might block iTunes from accessing the update server. If you're using a router that isn't manufactured by Apple, try these steps.
- Disconnect from your wired or wireless router.
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect directly to your modem.
- Restart your computer and modem. Contact your Internet service provider for instructions on using your modem.
- Be sure you have a working Internet connection by visiting www.apple.com. See these steps for help or contact your Internet service provider.
- If your Internet connection is working, try to update or restore your iOS device again.
If you have already attempted the steps above and your issue is not resolved, I would recommend restoring your device on another computer, as outlined in the article.

My phone was put into recovery mode and I know that not all data is deleted it just puts the phone into a sort of hibernation in order for the files to stay uncorrupted. I went to http://www.recovery-ipad.com/iphone-stuck-in-recovery-mode.html downloaded the software it unlocked my phone in a matter of minutes. Calls, messages, photos, apps, and voicemail was all there as if it never happened If you leave it unregistered you don't have to pay for it works for either windows or mac. Hope this helps!

I had my iphone 4 stolen and have been lent an iphone 3G, I have tried to restore the phone but its coming up with error 1015 and wont restore. I have the current Itunes software on my computer and there are no further updates to be done. Please help

I tried to update my iPad to latest ios and it is now asking me for a password...4 digits. I never had a password on it and it is too short to be my apple password. Help anyone? It keeps locking me out as I try different passwords.
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad

The free trial is all I needed to migrate my iPod Touch library into my main iTunes library. For those that want to use this tool for the same needs there are some things that need to be moved manually, e.g. Apps. But you can do it within the program very easily. Also iBooks/PDFs etc. need to be moved manually. The help section will point you in the right direction.
