HT1386 My iPhone 4s will no longer sync

My iPhone 4s used to sync automatically when plugged  into the computer. Now it won't sync manually or automatically. It disappeared from iTunes devices. I have: powered it off & on and made sure I have the most recent software upgrade. I reloaded iTunes, changed my security settings and went through all the step by step troubleshooting provided by Apple. I changed the usb cord and used a new one. Nothing works. My husbands did the same thing. The last time I was able to get the phone to sync automatically was in mid-Sept.
Any ideas?

my friend using a good flaslihght, check your goldplated dataport conectors in the phone for corrosion/oxidation/dirt. most problems we see like this are because of bad/missing dataports. do you have a continuity tester?

since my laptop crashed and itunes had to be re-installed my iphone 5 will no longer sync with itunes. can anyone suggest anything?

Does iTunes not recognize the phone, or does it recognize it but not sync? If it is the former see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538.
If it is the latter you may have some settings wrong. Tell us what you have tried.

  • IPhone 5s will no longer sync to iTunes now that I download iOS 8.1.2

iPhone 5s will no longer sync to iTunes now that I downloaded iOS 8.1.2 I get the message that it "failed to sync because the sync failed to start." Doesn't work with cable or over WiFi. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

Before connecting your device to iTunes to sync, double-click the Home button, and close all open apps by sliding up on the thumbnails until all open apps are closed. Then try the sync again.

  • ITunes removed contacts from iPhone and will no longer sync

iTunes 10 on OS X Lion removed all my contacts from my iPhone 3G and will no longer sync them. I had about 500 contacts, I'm not about to enter them manually. Now I have no idea who is calling or texting. This is absolutely ridiculous! There is absolutely no support!

If iTunes will not sync contacts to your iPhone4...
    Go to
    Settings
    Main, contacts etc.
    scroll down to "Contacts"
under "contacts you see a list. Choose the menu "Default Account"
You will see a choice between "From My Mac" and "iCloud"...select "From my Mac"
    This solution worked for me!

  • HT1296 Events entered in my iPhone 3GS will no longer sync to my Outlook 2010 calendar - what's up?

Some change in iOS I suppose makes it so events entered in my iPhone 3GS will no longer populate my Outlook 2010 calendar when I sync the devices through iTunes.  It used to be that events entered in each place would populate the other locationg when synced.  No longer!
There are two calendars in iPhone now and I don't know why.
Can anyone help me find out what's going on?

Ok! So I just came across this randomly in another thread from user Kempas (thanks a lot!). It totally fixed the problem so I thought I'd repost it!

Ok, I'm assuming everyone who is having trouble with Windows 7 (64-bit? mine is) has tried the following solution I found over at en.kioskea.net posted by a guy called Steve78545 (hey, you got to give a dude his due).
It's maybe because Windows 7 uses a MTP driver instead of the USBAAPL by default, and what you need is an 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' which you might not have in 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' (check it and see). If you haven't got it, as good ol' Steve78545 suggested:
Update the driver by expanding 'Portable Devices' from the list, right click Apple iPhone/iPhone and select 'Update Driver Software'. Then select 'Browse My computer...'
Copy the following path and paste it in - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers - then hit 'Next'.
Let the thing do it's...thing an it should work. At least it did for me, so I hope it helps a few people out!

  • Iphone 3G will no longer sync with MacPro

my iphone 3G will now not sync. I get this: The iPhone "TM's iphone" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to.
Has anyone seen this? Is the "disk" the computer (MacPro 10.6.8 running latest itunes) or the iphone 3G 4.2.1 o.s.?
    Thanks.

    Hey Allan,
The funny thing is that I don't get that option on my mac in prefs.
I get it on my windows itunes (which is where I set-up my account and sync most things)
I use my mac purely to sync with ical for a back-up for my calander and address book.
Had no problem before a day or so ago?
    thanks!

  • Video's removed from iPhone and will no longer Sync

I have recently purchased an iPhone 3G and have been setting it up over the last few days.
I eventually discovered that I can convert videos from my old phone to .mp4 format, added them to iTunes and sync'd with teh iPhone and was able to view them on my iPhone with full sound and colour, all good...
However I have just tried adding some more and found that all the video's i had previously sync'd have dissappeared from my iPhone, and iTunes will no longer allow me to sync them back to the phone.
I do not get an error message, and it appears when i drag and drop the files to the attached device, that it is ok, and then nothing happens.
Can anyone tell me why these video's will no longer appear on my iPhone.

Not really very helpful, was looking for some hint and tips to get round something of that nature, if indeed it is...
However, as i stated before, the video's were transfered before, and worked, and then removed and will no longer transfer?

First, SyncServices has nothing to do with iCloud.
    1. Calendars in the On My Mac or On My iPhone/iPad/iPod category, and calendars that sync with other network services such as Google, will not sync with iCloud.
    2. Back up all data, then take all the applicable steps in these support articles:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting
Nearly all sync issues should be resolved that way. Please make sure you've taken all the steps and tested adequately before continuing.
    3. If there are any calendars on your Mac that you don't synchronize with iCloud, export them by selecting them in the calendar list and then selecting
              File ▹ Export ▹ Export…
from the menu bar. Quit Calendar.
    4. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Calendars
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move that folder to the Desktop.
    5. Launch Calendar. Your calendars will initially be gone, but they should resynchronize with iCloud. If they don't, uncheck the boxes marked Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud preference pane, then re-check them.
    6. Import the calendars you exported in Step 3, if any, by double-clicking the files.
    7. If the issue is resolved, close the Finder window you opened in Step 4. Delete the exported files and the Calendars folder on the Desktop.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • HT1386 My new iPhone 5S will no longer sync to my iTunes library on my computer.

When I first bought my iPhone 5S a couple monhts ago, my music libraray came over just fine from my old Iphone. And I was able to sync to my computer iTunes libraray for updates (new songs and playlists, etc,) a couple times. But now, sync don't work on the new phone. I can still sync to my older iPad and iPhone 3 S just fine, but not t my new iPhone 5S. New songs bought on iTunes and imported on CD's do not (for the most part) show up on the iphone after syncing. Also, new l playlists and changes to current lists will not update (though a small minority of changes do appear). To repeat, I can still sync everything just fine from my computer to my old IPhoone 3S and to my ancient iPad, buit not to the new phone. I have tried every imaginable combination of WiFi and iCloud settingson or off, and syncing the entire library or just specific playlists and such. I am at a loss.

Please accept my apology if I sounded elementary to you. One never knows what level of expertise he is posting to. My thought based on the message I'm focusing on here is that IF in fact you are able to sync just fine with ancient devices but not your new device I would be thinking strongly about updates to either itunes or to your OS.
    Good luck.

  • TS4062 my iPhone suddenly will no longer sync using a USB cable to my desktop computer

When I connect my iPhone V to my desktop to sync, I hear the tones that my computer saw the iPhone connect on the USB port. However, iTunes no longer sees the phone and will not sync anymore. HELP.

  • Iphone 4s will no longer sync with itunes 11.0.4 using outlook for mac

I have been successful for almost 18 months in getting my Outlook for Mac 2011 to sync to my iphone 4s using itunes.  However, I noticed today that changes that I was making to my contacts either on my phone or on the computer were not being synced up.  I also plug in using USB to sync, because iCloud causes all sorts of probems when syncing things to Outlook for Mac.  Can anyone help me?
I have noticed that in itunes 11.0.4 there is no longer a box to check or a dropdown box specifically being able to choose "sync contacts with outlook"
I know I am in the dark ages, but I happen to like Outlook and the integration of the calendar and contacts, etc.  So I would really like to get this fixed and syncing again.
thanks for any and all help.

I am having the same problem. Does anyone have a suggestion or information as to why?

  • IPhone 4 will no longer sync music.

After I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6, none of my music will fully sync to the phone. The songs show up in my music folder and dropdown menu on the iPhone, but are all greyed out and I am unable to play them. I have tried syncing from both a windows computer and a mac, and have attempted everything I can think of in regards to permissions and such (which granted isn't much, but still). Any help?
