HT1386 My latest playlist created in November is not syncing on my iPhone 4s. Can anyone give some tips? I have a MAC desktop and the latest version of iTunes.
My playlist created on my MAC in iTunes is not syncing with my iPhone 4s. The problem started in November. I have rechecked the automatic syncing but nothing happens. What am I missing?
Please read this article about snycing music using itunes. Please focus on what it speaks when outlining talking about syncing selected playlists artists and genres THAT is the setting you will need enabled to sync playlists to a mobile device.

I recently downloaded and installed the latest version of iTunes and now keep getting the error message "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please re-install iTunes (-42404)".
Since this, my iPad will not sync, despite resetting it many times.
I have downloaded and installed the new iTunes more than ten times with no luck.
Please can anyone help!!!!!!!Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Windows images, but you get the point. Depending on the age of your library the library file might not include the .itl extention. Make it match the file you are replacing.
See MusicFolder Files Not Added and Super Remove Dead Tracks for tools to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.

The latest version of itunes and my IPOD not showing up...
Ok so I updated to the latest version of Itunes last night, now my computer can't detect my Ipod. It was working fine on the previous version of Itunes, I had no issues whatsoever. I've tried everything they've listed in the help menus, it says my Ipod connection status button is red, but there is no reason for it to be.
I've tried all my different usb ports, I've uninstalled itunes, reinstalled it, even tried the previous version I used, now the ipod won't show up period. Windows doesn't detect it either.
Has this happened to anyone else since they updated itunes?
AI'm having the same trouble. My iPod is not even recognized when I plug into the USB port. I've tried everything. I had no trouble until I did the iTunes update. Now I can't even get my laptop to find the iPod.
I'm so frustrated!! Anyone figure out how to fix this?? -
I have always been able to create playlists on itunes, then drag them to my ipod when it is plugged into the mac. I recently downloaded the latest version of itunes, and now am unable to do that. I can drag songs and albums to the ipod, but not my playlists. It used to be so easy, am I missing something here?
Plug your iPod into your computer, it will begin to sync. Now check to see if the playlists have been added.
If not, go to the songs tab under your iPod when it is connected to iTunes, Unless you have checked "Sync all songs (or something to those words)" you should have an option on what you can put on your iPod. Make sure to check the playlists that you want on your iPod. -
The latest version of iTunes does not allow me to open a playlist in a separate window. I need this feature. Is there another way? You used to be able to double click a playlist and have it appear in a new window.
Others have commented on this too. It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development. You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of progress.

Is it just me that finds the latest version of iTunes a bit rubbish? I'm used being able to open a playlist in a separate window in order to browse through my music and easily drag and drop tracks into the playlist (in a separate window). It also meant that I could search and play the contents of my main library and just drag and drop into a large space AND easily hit the stop button and instantly hit the pay button to just start a new tune from a new playlist. Now you can only press pause / play / pause and so on. If I want to view the contents of a playlist while listening to another I need to navigate to it which takes me away from what I'm doing in the other. It just makes for a lot of clicking and navigating around the houses when I used to be able to have multiple windows.
I'm an avid music fan and just love organising my music to make finding / listening to my favourites eaiser.
Maybe I'm just a bit thick and not using the software correctly, but it seems that a lot of handy features have been either removed or replaced with inferior ones (at least for me anyway). I appreciate that probably for most generic general music goers this isn't an issue, but for me it is.
A rather long winded way of asking if anybody knows if it's possible to have multi-windows open, but also a chance to have a public moan about a great piece of software that has been updated and gone backwards - a bit like the iPhone google / apple maps situation!http://www.apple.com/feedback/kaywerty wrote:

It's not possible.

error message: itunes library .itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version. I downloaded and in stalled the latest version of itunes and it did not help. What now?
Perhaps check to see if you're accidentally running two different versions of iTunes. There's some information on troubleshooting that in the Opening iTunes section of the following document:

I have Windows XP, and when trying to burn an iTunes playlist to an Audio CD, I get a message saying "Disc burner or Software not found". I have re-installed the latest version of iTunes, but I still can't burn to disc. Any suggestions?
Try HT203242: iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install.

Since the latest version of itunes, my playlists are too large to fit on the screen. The left side, with all my playlists is still there, but I can no longer scroll down the chosen playlist as the far right is no longer accessible. Any suggestions on how to minimize the list? Thanks.
I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

I did a system restore on my computer. When I had it up and running again, I downloaded the latest version of itunes. Now I can't sync apps to my sons ipod. What can I do to fix this?
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing and follow the instructions. -
I just loaded the latest version of itunes and now I cannot sync my notes from Outlook 2010 to my iphone. Notes no longer appears under the advanced section of the info tab. Since I have not had luck syncing in the cloud I always check the boxes and tell the sync to sync from my computer to my phone. Does anyone know how to get this to work.
When you connect your ipod up to the computer. It should show the device, usually with the name of the device, in my case 'jordan's ipod'. This should be on the row which shows 'songs', 'albums' e.t.c on the far right. There when you click on it it should go to a different screen showing a picture of your ipod along with two buttons - Update and Restore. Click update and it should take a 2 mins while your ipod is updated to the latest version of Ios.
After updating te ipod see if there is a change in results.
PS: make sure the device is active while syncing so keep tapping the screen.
Sorry for any incorrect info, i have an ipod touch, but i've had experience with an ipod -
I installed Snow Leopard and have the latest version of iTunes. However, when I connect my iPhone 4S, it charges and iPhoto opens, but iTunes doesn't seem to recognize the iPhone. It simply doesn't appear in the left column. What gives?

HT1386 Syncing iPad/PC using latest version of iTunes
Syncing iPad and a PC using The latest version of iTunes -- iTunes doesn't show DEVICE icon on the top message bar anymore.
With iTunes running on your PC, check the upper left hand corner. Do you see "File, Edit, View, etc."? If so, click view and "show side bar". If not, see if in the extreme upper left corner there is a 1/2 shaded box. Click on "show menu bar", then choose view and show side bar. You should see your device on the left hand side of the page.
