My old computer crashed how do i get the music from my ipod to sinc with my itunes library?

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music that you've bought from other sources or copied from your own CDs then have you not got a backup of them on, for example, an external drive that you can copy onto the computer ? If not then you will need to find a third-party program to copy them off - this post mentions some that were around a couple of years ago, whether they still exist and work I don't know.

AFTER recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

  • HT1386 How do I get my music from my ipod onto a new computer?  My old laptop broke so I can't get on to that one to "de-sync"..

How do I transfer music from my ipod to my PC without being able to access the old laptop which the ipod was previously synced to?  My old laptop broke, and I want to sync my music and add everything to my new laptop, but if I try to sync my ipod with my new computer it says it is going to delete all my music.  I tried looking at the apple help pages, and it said: First attach your ipod to the computer you want to disconnect from.  Not possible in this case.  What can I do?

  • How do I get the music from my iPod onto my iPad?

How do I get my iPod music onto my ipad2?

One has to assume the music on your iPod is in your iTunes music library?  From there, it's simple.  Simply connect your iPad to iTunes, and after it synchs (you can cancel the synch if you don't want to synch), then click on the iPad on the left hand side.  Your device will be up on the screen.  Click on music and check which music you want to synch to your iPad, then synch and your music will be there.......

  • I have an Ipod touch but I just got a new computer, how do I get my music from my ipod onto my new computer?

I just got a new computer and I want to transfer my music from my ipod touch to my new pc....how can I do this?

The ipod is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • How do I get the music from my ipod onto Itunes?

I have had my ipod nano for a loooooong time and in a turn of events, most of the music on it isn't on my Itunes account. How do I transfer it safely?

If you don't purchase the music from iTunes, you need an ipod to computer transfer program to help.I personally use this iPod to Computer Transfer software. It helps me to transfer my Music, Movie, Photo, ePub, PDF, Audiobook, Voice Memo, Camera Roll, Podcast and TV Show etc from ipod to my computer directly and safely. It works well for me,you can give it a try.
It even has step-by-step guide on the whole process.
    Hope it helps.

  • If my computer crashed how can I get my itunes from my ipod onto my new pc without losing when syncing up?

my pc crashing some time ago -- want to add new songs to my iPod but don't want to lose the songs I have on there now.  Anyway to do that?

You should transfer the song files from your iPod to your current computer, add them to the iTunes library, and sync your iPod to that library (after confirming all of those songs are there now).
Any songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be re-downloaded, at no cost, using the Purchased screen in the iTunes Store.
For other songs, you can't transfer from iPod to computer using iTunes.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  Add "mac" to the search if you use a Mac.
That would be the safest way to proceed, because you will then have a backup of the iPod's songs on the computer (in case the iPod breaks, gets lost, or needs a "Restore").  However, if you decline to sync when you first connect the iPod, it should get set to "Manually manage music."  When it is set that way, you should be able to add new songs to it manually (by dragging songs to it in iTunes).  But again, it would be safest to have ALL the songs (on the iPod) in the iTunes library on the computer first.

  • I have all my music on my I-pod but I have a new laptop, how do I get the music from my ipod onto itunes?, I have all my music on my I-pod but I have a new laptop, how do I get the music from my ipod onto itunes?

I have all my music on my ipod but I can't get that music onto my new laptop , how do I do that?

At a guess you followed the process in HT1364 - iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder which would have moved the media folder to a new path of your choice. This process leaves the library database files back in the original location of <User's Music>\iTunes. Often people assume that all they need is now on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, or discard their old computer, before backing up the all important iTunes folder. If you have a backup of your user's profile folder from before the upgrade the iTunes library folder should be in there somewhere. Restore it to <User's Music> and your original library should pop back into existence. The external drive would need to have the same drive letter that it had previously.
A more effective way to relocate the library is to move the entire iTunes folder to the external drive, then hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. You would then choose the file iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If this is the way you moved the library before then that is how you should now reconnect to it. Changing the media folder in preferences doesn't change which .itl database file is opened, nor does double-clicking on an .itl file directly.
If you no longer have the original .itl file then you will have to build a new library and import the media to it. If you need to do this I would recommend you create a new library at F:\iTunes, then move your existing media folders inside F:\iTunes\iTunes Media before importing. This will avoid the creation of duplicates and make sure the library is in the correct shape going forwards.
If you have an iPod or iOS device my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats may well let you recover ratings, play counts & playlists from the device.
When you've fixed up your libray you should consider getting a second external drive to backup to.
