HT1386 sync is replacing!

i want to upload an app to my ipad through itunes on my pc, but when syncing apps it replaces them all! how do i add the new app without replacing the existing ones?? :S

Are you by any chance using two different Apple ID's?
Are you signed into the correct ID on the iPad in Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID?
if these are all apps that you bought with the same ID and you are signed into the same ID on the iPad as you are using in iTunes on the computer, I don't see why this is happening.
You have synced the iPad with this iTunes library in the past, since you did state that every time you sync....so have you tried like I suggested above - select all of the apps that you want on the iPad and then click on Apply?
the apps that show in the apps list - are they apps that are on your iPad? If you uncheck apps, they will be removed from the iPad when you sync, so you have to select all of the apps to sync. You can't just select a new one to sync. All of the apps must be selected to sync.
Are you unchecking the other apps? If this is the iTunes library that you have synced with in the past, there is something weird going on now.

  • After syncing a replacement iPad for the first time, my apps have a "waiting " on the screen I can access them but not on opening screen

After syncing a replacement iPad for the first time, my apps now have a"waiting" message . I can still access from settings but not on the opening app page

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
You may need to delete the game app and redownload (you won't be charged).

  • HT1386 Photo albums replacing each other after syncing

There's something wrong with my photos when ever I sync them into my iPod touch (5th gen). Let's say I upload album A into my iPod, everything is fine and I can see the album in my Photo app. Then I upload album B, the album replaces album A! And vice versa if I want to upload back album A! What's going on? What can I do to save all my albums and not let them replace each other?

You can only Sync one photos folder with the iPod Touch.
However - the solution is simple.
Create a folder named (for example) "Touch Pictures". (Name it whatever you prefer.)
Drag and drop album A (which presumably is a folder of its own) into the "Touch Pictures" folder.
Drag album B into the "Touch Pictures" folder. (You now have two sub-folders inside the Touch pictures folder.)
Sync iPod with your iTunes Library.
On a subsequent occasion, add album C to the "Touch Pictures" folder.
Sync iPod with your iTunes Library.
When you look at Photos on your iPod Touch, you will now see separate "folders":
    Photo Library
    album A
    album B
    album C
The first one - Photo Library will contain every picture as one folder. The other "folders" - album A, album B and album C will each contain only the pictures for that folder.
On my 2nd generation Touch, the list also displays the number of pictures in the folder, but I believe later version of the iOS have dropped this.

  • Using pocketmac to sync a replacement blackberry bold

I wondered if someone could help
Due to a fault I have had to replace my blackberry bold. My old blackberry was syncing happily with my mac using pocketmac.  Now with my new blackberry I get nothing, the mac doesn't seem to recognize the new blackberry and sync new device is greyed out.
I have the most up to date version of pocket mac and I also downloaded and installed the lastest drivers to my mac.  Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong
    thanks

Make sure that your Device defaults on the BB both point to the same email address...
    OPTIONS>ADVANCED OPTIONS>DEFAULT SERVICES
That may solve the problem since the DEVICE DEFAULT calendar doesn't sync to anything.

  • I need a way of syncing without replacing everything.

My laptop had developed a problem and it needed it's hard drive replaced, so concequently I lost all my data. It is back now and my ipods still working but the only songs I now have on my itunes are songs i've put on it since it's been repaired. Basically I'm wondering does anyone know how I can either restore everything from ipod onto itunes, or just add to my ipod the new songs i put on itunes. please help!

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • HT1414 what is error (-42408) im trying to sync my replacement iphone 4 bu the music and apps from my computer wont go on the phone

i just got my iphone 4 replaced and had backed up my previous phone onto itunes on my computer. When i plugged in the new iphone the apps and music are not syncing, but my contacts and pictures are all back, any suggestions??

    "Error 42023" through "Error 42408"
These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.
Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
    Remove the SC Info folder.
If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.

  • HT1386 Sync to second PC

Can you sync to more than one PC?  If you sync to another PC, how do you go back to synching with the original computer?

iPhone is meant to sync with 1 pc only. If you sync with a 2nd pc, all iPhone content will be erased and replaced by that pc.

  • Syncing my replacement handset with Mobile Me

Hey folks, I posted this in the MobileMe discussion forum but no replies as yet so thought id ask here...
I had an accident at the weekend which involved my iPhone going for a swim!
Its insured, so will be getting a replacement handset asap.
I have all my contacts and calender syncronised with my mobile me accout online.
When my replacement handset arrives, I intend on entering my username and password etc and hoping my contacts transfer to the phone.
What crossed my mind though, is that when I do this, would there be a chance that mobile me will sync with the new phone (with no contacts on at all) and wipe the contents of the online part? Does that make sense?
    Regards
    James

IIRC correctly, 1 of 2 things (or both) happens in this case:
You are prompted through MobileMe to move all data to the phone because it's the "First time Synching".
You can check a box selecting that you want all data from MobileMe to go to the phone, i.e. not a "Sync"

  • Sync to replacement phone

I have Palm 4.2.2 with data from my old Treo 680 on my Mac 10.4 operating system. I downloaded my old phone to MAC and now want to download from MAC to replacement Treo 680. Is there a way to HotSync?
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

Hello and welcome to the Palm forums.
If the new phone came along with games, doing a hard reset will not erase the games from that phone. A hard reset will wipe off any data that did not come with the device.
You will need to do a hard reset on your new phone and then sync it to your existing user name.
After the hard reset, when you begin to sync, the computer will prompt you, "there is no user name associated with this account..." select your old user name and then all the info from your old device will come back onto your palm.
Let me know if you need instructions for performing a hard reset on your device.

  • HT1386 syncing multiple iPhones on same computer

How can I sync two iPhones on the same laptop?  right now they are both treated as one.

See this support document for help http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495, however, there is no way that iTunes can treat two devices as the same, unless you have the settings in iTunes for the two devices set the same. Each iOS device is identified differently in iTunes. It is how you set iTunes to handle the two devices that can differ.
Why are you saying they are treated as one?
