HT1386 Syncing iPhone 4 with recently downloaded iOS 5.1.1
Just uploaded iOS5.1.1 on my iPhone 4. After downloading the update that was 783MB, the screen has been saying 'preparing iPhone for restore' and 'syncing iPhone' for the past ten minutes. Is this normal?
Not without restoring it. Your options are shown at the bottom here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.

Stuck on 'verifying iPhone restore with Apple' downloading ios 5
Does anyone else have this same problem? Stuck on 'Verifying iPhone restore with Apple' Its been doing this for well over an hour now with the black and white bar moving underneath.. also it shows the picture on my iPhone that i need to plug it into iTunes.. with every now and then a refresh with the Apple logo... please help!
I've got an original iPhone running 3.1.3 and my symptom has been that when the phone is plugged in, I see the phone in the menu, and I get the message "Verifying iPhone..." for 15 seconds or so, then the phone displays "Sync in Progress" but iTunes drops the phone from the menu and shows no sync activity. The phone continues to say "Sync in Progress" but there is no sync happening. [I've ordered a 4S but I don't want to be unable to sync this old device!!]
PS I kept trying a number of times - the phone is visible, then it disappears - I'm not sure this was the key, but when I switched my phone from being plugged into a usb hub, and plugged it in directly, it finally stayed connected, backedup, and seems to have synced correctly. -
Problems with Syncing iPhone 3G (4.2.1. iOS). What is appearing in the status bar is "Syncing "untiled playlist.." and its stuck at backing up. I noticed that my name has been replaced to "untitled playlist". Whats wrong

Maybe a long shot, but WD is not known for the quality of some of their enclosures, although I do like the drives themselves. It may be worth mounting this drive in a different enclosure, something like one of OWC's FireWire enclosures with the highly reliable Oxford chip sets. I wouldn't be inclined to trust a WD enclosure, especially if it already seemed to be acting in a flakey manner.
Here's an example of what I mean:

I have 3 of these and I really like them.
From what I understand, if the drive spins up, it is often possible to recover data from it. To be absolutely certain to destroy the data, you just about have to take a hammer to the disk. Hopefully, there will be a way to get your data back.
Good luck! -
I recently downloaded ios 6.1.3 in my iphone 3, but unable to install the download. This message keeps showing "unable to install update, an error occurred installing the ios 6.1.3 I have tried several times but the same message keeps coming. What is the solution?
There is no such thing as an iPhone 's3'. There is a 3G which can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1 and a 3GS which can be updated to iOS 6.1.3.

Okay, so my friends think it is funny to change the passcode on my iPhone.
Maybe you should get new friends.
I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.
iCloud: Erase your device - Apple Support
This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone. -
i have an iphone 4 having toruble downloading ios 5 keep timinig out with twenty mins left yo go how do i get around this
If this is on the actual download from itunes then this is an issue with your ISP.
If this is on installing the IOS to your phone (after extracting file), then it could be a security software issue. -
I have the iphone 3GS and recently downloaded the iOS 5.0.1 software. I can open my apps; however, after a few minutes (sometimes seconds) I am booted out of the app. Any ideas?
Dowload any new free app from the App Store.

frozen rogue image on macbook air: synced iphone, was asked to download from itunes, to restart, did this. when restarted there was photo of chocolate saying 'love you'. never seen image, it will not delete, the techs at work tried too. No luck.Virus? any ideas?
I'm an applications developer and also run a part-time videography business. As such, I require more than 3.12GB of RAM. That is the physical limitation of a 32bit system. Pointless to stay on 32bit if you plan on having more than that much RAM.
I'm also not about to pay someone to fix my PC when I can do it myself. I was originally hoping for someone who had experienced the problem before to point me in the right direction so I didn't have to spend so much time trying to figure out what the issue was for myself.
Basically, in the end the problem was caused because right at the point in time when I chose to uninstall, and reinstall; Apple released a new version of iTunes. This version in turn had a requirement of iOS 4.2 to sync with the iPhone. This is a pretty embarrassing for Apple that they would release software reliant on other software before said software was released.
Had I realised I was downloading a newer version at the initial point of installation, this wouldn't have been an issue. I could've easily have rolled back iTunes to the previous version and gotten on with my life.
Another issue is that iTunes is not actually a 64 bit application. It masquerades as one to allow installation on the 64 bit platform. -
I have an Iphone 3 and wish to upload my Icloud contacts onto the devise. Being that the Iphone 3 can not download IOS 5, I have to figure out another way of uploading my Icloud contacts onto my Iphone 3. Any suggestions?
If you have a Mac with OS X Lion or a PC with Outlook 2007 or 2010 synced with iCloud, you can. Connect your iPhone to the computer and sync it

I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before, but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them, showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there. Is there a way to get them off? The songs dont show up in my itunes on my computer, just on my ipod with a download button next to them. I don't want them there anymore because i don't like that kind of music anymore and i don't know how to get them to go away.
There is a similar setting for Videos on that Settings screen, so if you leave that 'on' you may have similar happening in the Videos app

I have an iPhone 4 so I downloaded iOS 7.03 but it doesn't installe it says error accured what can I do to make it install
when one download something from the Internet corruption can happen making the data defect
when this happen the computer notice it and don't attempt to install the damaged software on the phone which would damage it
if one try right away to redownload something from the Internet ones isp just give one a copy from their cache (they can't detect if all data in their cache is valid because that would slow everything down)
wait a bit and the cache will be cleared and you will have a new attempt to download and flash your ios device with the update should it prove uncorrupted this time -

I cannot import my photos to my Windows xp PC after updating my iphone 5 with the latest iOS 7.1
According to the iTunes download page, it still supports Windows XP.
Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
(Emphasis added)
If your XP computer was updated, then it should work. Again, the links I posted earlier contain the current USB drivers for the iPhone and Windows. -

Applecare and user's hard drive data
