HT1386 Syncing with iTunes not working

I bought this iphone 4 from someone on craigs list I went to go put music on it and switch the option to manually sync music but it said I cant change that becuae the phone is already synced with an itunes acocunt. And I have to erase everything on it and sync it with this computer but if i back it up and set it up as a new iPhone can I back it up after I "set it up as a new iphone" so I can get all my texts back and stuff??

Do you auto sync? If you do go ahead and sync again, but before you eject the iPad check to make sure that everything is selected properly to sync in the music tab of iTunes.
Ignore steps 1 & 2 - just don't disconnect the iPad after you auto sync and then follow the other steps
Connect the iPad to your computer with the cable
Launch iTunes
Click on the iPad name on the left under "Devices"
Click on anyone Music tab in iTunes on the right
Click on all of the artists, or playlists that you want to sync - or choose the "Entire Library" option
Make sure that the Sync Music heading is checked
Click on Apply or Sync in the lower right corner of iTunes
Does this make any difference?

My Nokia N81 8GB was synced with iTunes, I told it to refresh and it found 1500 tunes, it proceeded to crash and after a reset it won't find anything! It took 5 hours for the transfer so I don't really want to do it again, on the off-chance it will work.

Music files need to go into Music or My Music
otherwise they are not found by the music player.
If the files are in these locations and you still can't refresh the Music Library then you may have a corruption in the Music Library.
If this is the case then the best option would be to rename the folder called Private in the Mass memory to Private_old or whatever.
Then try it again.
Also test that all the other applications are working.
In case something else breaks then you can restore the folder.

I'm having the exact same issue with iTunes 10.5, iOS 5 on an iPhone 4S. My regular (not smart) playlist was sorted by "Date Added" newest on top, and in my phone it seemed to be sorted by "Date Added" oldest on top (which is silly because I want to play my new music more often than my old music...)
Anyway, on a whim, I tried sorting my iTunes playlist by "Plays" and synced and it WORKED (properly sorted by "Plays" on my iPhone). Thinking I had fixed the issue, I again sorted by "Date Added" newest on top, and synced, and the iPhone reverted to "Date Added" oldest on top...
Thinking it might be just the "Date Added" column sorting that's F'd, I sorted by "Name," and synced and it WORKED (properly sorted by "Name" on my iPhone).
Not wanting to test each column, I decided to leave it sorted by "Plays," least on top, which is similar to "Date Added" newest on top, but not exactly. It'll have to do until Apple fixes this issue.
Conclusion: At least the "Date Added" column sorting in iTunes is completely disregarded on the iPhone, choose another sort column for now

IPod 3rd Gen 30gb wont sync with iTunes, but works fine and shows up in windows explorer

Hi, My sister-in-laws ipod classic 3rd gen ipod is being wierd. Therres a few problems. First and foremost when we plug it into her windows XP laptop and open the latest version of itunes, which we uninstalled and reinstalled the message "The software required for this ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the required software." which we allready did. I also did everything in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US but when i selected the usbappl file as the driver it didnt reconize it as a driver. I also ran itunes dianostics and restarted the apple mobile device service and fixed all other issues. The ipod shows up fine in the windows explorer any help is appreciated.

That is a 4th gen iPod, and it should work with a USB port (or a FireWire port).
If you have not done a standard Restore on the iPod using iTunes, you may want to do that next. The Restore button is on the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. So, if the cause is related to software (or data corruption), and there is no hardware issue, a Restore should fix it.
WARNING: The 4th gen iPod (when used on a USB port) will ask that you connect it to a USB power adapter as the last step in the Restore process. These white square power adapters originally came with this model. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, you will not be able to complete the Restore, and the iPod will become non-functional. So don't do it unless you have one. A third-party power adapter may or may not work for this purpose. The USB port on your computer does not work for this purpose.

My laptop melted down recently and I had to restore it to factory settings. I lost my music including the iTunes library. I still have many iTunes tracks on my iPhone, but can't sync the phone with iTunes any more because a message appears saying I will lose all my iPhone tracks. iTunes will not transfer music not purchased from iTunes (ripped) music from your phone to your iTunes library. You will have to purchase 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to accomplish that. Using Imouse with ITunes not working correctly

I just start to have a problem when I click on a song to play it won't start, I have to go to the menu bar and click play under the control menu. Also, I can't click on a song and stop the previous one and start a new one. I thought this was a mouse problem e.g. low battery but is fully charged and this only occurs using ITunes. Any help is appreciated.

Is this the computer you normally sync the device with? If it's not, you won't be able to get around this as your iPod is designed to only sync with one iTunes library at at time.
Are you signed into the same account used to make these app purchases?

IPhone calendar syncing with MobileMe not working

Could somebody help me figger out how to readjust the settings of syncing me iPhone with MobileMe and the latter with my iMac at home?
The thing that's not working as it should is this: when at home, in Belgium, changing/adding appointments in iphones calendar, the next day, when I was at work in Holland, where my 3G network is functioning(I switch off dataroaming because of the huge costs), I often see that appointments were put back to before the change I most recently made. This is frustrating, and cause for difficult planning/scheduling.
Anyone know how to tackle this? Would there be something wrong with the settings? I doubt the latter because, when I do the same thing as I mentioned above in Holland, things work fine.

Calendar sync with exchange not working

I connect my iMac to my corporate email using exchange and every few weeks I have to remove th account and add it again innorder for the calendar to update. Anyone have a fix for this?

the new iphone does not sink with outlook 2003 and my sync with mac
is far far less than perfect (300 out of 2500 contacts sync). The iphone techs tell me this problem is universal. I sure didn't get this information when I bought the phone. The apple techs for cannot fix these problems. The software seems flawed.

Active sync with AD not working

HI There is a problem with active sync with AD , when I run the synch manually after any parameters are changed in the AD it is not being populated in the rest of the resources. It changes only in the AD but not IDM or any other resource

Yes the populate global is enabled and I am useing a form for the active synch.

HT1386 sync calendar does not work

Since Update to OS 10.7.4 - ITunes do not recoqnize the address book and I can not sync the contact to the iPhone. What to do?

Click Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>iCloud>Contacts (radio button is on (green))
This will sync the iCloud calendar, but not the "on my Mac calendar"

How do I clear the space on my camera roll? It shows 1.7 Gb when I checked the usage, however I have only a few photos on the camera roll. I tried to sync many times but it does not update correctly. It still shows 1.7Gb...:(

When the iPod is connected to your iTunes library (and therefore physically connected to your computer), look for a removeable drive in the "Computer". Drill down into the drive's folders (I think it's DCIM, isn't it?) and you will find the pictures on the Camera Roll.
If you want to keep them, copy them onto your computer. Once you have a safe copy, you can delete the contents of the Camera Roll.
You should be able to delete the pictures on the iPhone itself (I can on my iOS 4.2.1 iPod), but since I dont have iOS5, I may be wrong.

I would suggest you try the Forget Device option in BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Go into Device>Forget Device. Close BlackBerry Desktop Software and re-open and try the synchronization.

Itunes not working when trying to sync ipad and iphone 4

Hello I have been having a number of issues with itunes not working. When I try to sync my ipad or iphone 4 itunes locks up does not see my devices connected I have to reboot 5 times before I can get them to be seen in itunes. Also when I am able to get itunes to see my ipad it will lock up at backing up ipad. I have removed everything apple and reinstalled and same issue. I am running windows vista 64 bit I don't remember having this problem until the new itunes came out and after I got my iphone 4. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this.
