Something is apparently wrong with your iphone or you are using an app that requires wi-fi or you are not in an area with 3g reception.

For the audio book, if the book is fully downloaded (not streaming) then you do not need an internet connection.

As in using cellular? You can't upgrade it without selling the one you have and buying a different one.
Another option for you, look into a device like a Mifi (that's just verizon's name for it)
It's a portable wifi hotspot that uses cellular data and you can connect your ipad to it.

How does it work using apps over wifi?

So ive seen several apps well preaty much all requering that you ahve a data plan. So say i have data active at my provider, will i be able to use live messenger and facebook over wifi or will they only use gprs/edge?
My problem is that my data is freaking expensive as soon as you use data they charge you 2 bucks but after that you can use as much as you want that day. For EDGE well we never did built a fully edge system in sweden cause 3G came almost the same and are superior to edge so all data have to go over GPRS which is slow.

That depends on whether the audiobook is an audible.com download or not. Audibooks ripped from CDs work fine on either generation Shuffle.

I have an iPad but no wifi at my house. I went to a friends and used their wifi to update some apps. But I had to leave and now I cannot use the apps because they have waiting.

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Your question answers itself. I do not understand why the Verizon connection doesn't work with FaceTime, but that is the way it is.
To use FaceTime on the iPad, you must find a way to access the Internet using WiFi. One way is a MiFi WiFi hotspot, also available from Verizon. There is a battery powered version, although it may not be from Verizon. Since you already have the account, Verizon may give you a price break. It doesn't hurt to ask.
FaceTime is not the only means for Video Chatting. The iPhone version of Skype works on the iPad, and there are other Video Chat programs. I understand Google has one.

I still can't be on a phone call and use data without wifi on my Droid Turbo. I thought this was going to be fixed by late November.

I am so disappointed. I am a long time Droid user and research the Droid Turbo for several months before purchasing. I even read the reviews that indicated that there was a issue when attempting to use the phone calling feature and data at the same time. I called Verizon and talked with a rep. who indicated that he had the new phone and assured me that this issue had been fixed. Unfortunately, when I received the phone this was not the case. Even an update shortly after purchase still did not fix this issue. All of my Droids before this did not have this issue...how can a newer more improved phone? I even called Motorola and the English of the representative was so bad that I could not overcome the language barrier therefore no solution was reached. Wish I had my Razr HD back :{

I'm not on a Windows machine, so I don't know how much help I can be, but I can tell you that it doesn't matter whether your computer is using Wi-Fi or ethernet. All that matters is that iCloud has access to the internet. The iPhone does need to be connected to Wi-Fi for Photo Stream to sync though; it won't work on the cell network.
Before we do any troubleshooting, follow the steps in this article to reset your Photo Stream, and see if it resolves the issue. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4890
It sounds like you've followed the correct setup process, but it doesn't hurt to check again. Restart your computer and do a soft reset on your iPhone by holding down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Once both have restarted, make sure that you only have one iCloud account set up on each device, and that they are both configured with the same account. Ensure that Photo Stream is turned on for each device as well. For the iPhone, check under both the "iCloud" and the "Photos" tab. Next, click the "Options" button in iCloud Control Panel to make sure you have photos syncing to the correct folder. If the pictures are still not syncing, try placing an image in the "Uploads" folder on your computer to see if it will sync to iCloud. Also, be aware that Photo Stream will only sync pictures taken after it has been set up, so images you already had on your phone will not sync.
Try to provide some more information, such as any troubleshooting steps you have taken so far. Is anything else syncing between your computer and phone, such as calendars or bookmarks? Did you follow an online tutorial to set this up, or did you figure it out as you went along?

That depends on what you mean by "use".
Sure you can use it without wifi. Many apps do not require a connection to the Internet. The iPod app (or Music and Videos apps, I can never remember which the iPod Touch uses nowadays), for example.
However, iPod Touch devices do not include the "cell phone parts" - i.e. they cannot connect to cellular voice or data networks. Therefore, when an iPod Touch cannot connect to a wifi network, it has no way to transceive data with the Internet (short of Bluetooth, but that's a special case and I'm sure not what you're asking about).

HI got my iPhone 6 about 3 months ago and it as working perfectly fine but all of a sudden it wouldn't let me use the Internet, iMessage or my social media apps without wifi. My brothers and dad's phone still works fine but I don't get how come mine doesn't. As far as FaceTime, no one here would know - we are not Apple or the cell carriers. Since Apple has stated they are interested in expanding FaceTime, it's the carriers who are holding it back. Contact your carrier, preferably with an entitled and demanding attitude.
