HT1386 Why do I have duplicate songs after syncing?

Whenever I sync my phone, I notice some of my songs are duplicated? Also, my playlists dont transfer to phone but are still on my computer

Are the songs duplicated in your iTunes library on your computer? If they are, it will copy this to the iPhone, if they aren't, then I don't know how to help with that.
To ensure playlists are synced, plug your iPhone in (or select it from your devices if you use iTunes WiFi sync), click the "music" tab at the top (if you're using the latest version of iTunes) and then tick all the boxes of the playlists you want to sync.

  • HT1386 Why do I have duplicate songs on my iPhone but not in my library?

I have recently purchased a new album and now all of the songs show up twice on my phone but only once in my library.  How do I correct this?

I have a completely untested & unconfirmed hypothesis that "something" changed in the last iOS update with the way iTunes keeps track of which items are on the device. My guess is that it has something to do with being able to identify the same track whether on the device, in your library or in the cloud. Whatever the cause I found I needed to manually delete a bunch of albums on my iPad that were showing as dupes or without artwork which didn't get resolved by syncing. Since I deleted them and resynced it has all been fine.
In the list type views swipe from right to left over the right hand side of an item (but keep away from the alphabet if it is showing down at the edge of the window). A red delete button should appear, tap to remove the item. In grid mode on an iPad holding your finger down on an item for about a second will produce a black & white cross at the top left, touch this to delete.
If all else fails backup and then restore the device.

  • Why do i have duplicate songs in most of my albums? using iTunes match, use computer to charge phone, it must have synced now have double songs

I think when i was charging my iphone and syncing iphoto, itunes synced.  i never check the box that says "synce itunes when iphone connected' but this box somehow was checked. now i have double music, taking up a lot of space.  Having to manually remove all the duplicate songs.  this is the third time this has happened. I do not have the time to sit and manually do this.  Can anyone tell me why this is happening and is there an easier fix?  could turn off itunes match and turn it back on again, but then have to redownload my music individually, which is also time consuming.

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!!  (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
    Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
    2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)
    Should solve your problem :~)

  • Duplicate songs after sync on itunes

Hello, recently I synchronized my Iphone and itunes said that i have 7 GB of music, but after sync the music capacity bar have rise up to 11 GB. I opened music and i saw that many songs is duplicated... i trying to sync many times but problem is still there... I try to add music manually but it doesnt work... Any ideas to solve this problem?

I just fixed this this morning in the following way:
Settings > General > Usage > Music > Edit > delete all music
Launch iTunes > uncheck off Music Sync
    Sync phone
If that doesn't work, try synching a few times and you should see all your music disappear.
Check Music sync again and re-sync your phone.
(I also turned my phone off after I first removed the music, just in case.  Not sure if that does anything, but you never know)

  • HT1386 Why are Notes in Outlook empty after syncing with my iPad Notes?

I have tried syncing my iPad Notes with Outlook, my Gmail account, and my iCloud account thru the USB connection. The iPad notes remain unchanged but  no notes can be found anywhere else.

See if you are hitting the issue mentioned in the article -> http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2980834/en-us?sd=rss&spid=16662&wa=wsignin1.0
If yes, the fix is with Exchange Server 2013 CU6.

  • Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists?

Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists? Also, you cannot use the "show duplicate songs" feature on the iPod - I suppose that is because it is not supposed to duplicate songs on the iPod. But, if that is the case - why does it do it?

Try resetting your iPod, press and hold the power and the home buttons together approximately 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work try going into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If that does not work try connecting to you iTunes library via the cable and un-sync the library from your iPod then sync the library.  For the next 2 options backup your iPod first, then do a Restore iPod from backup, if that doesn't work... As a last resort Restore your iPod as New. I too had the red circle and square after updating to 7.0.4 the last resort fixed mine, others have reported doing all the above, all have had reports of fixing the problem and not fixing it. Give it a try, hopefully one of these works, Good luck.

  • Why do I have extra songs in my iPhone playlist that are not on my iTunes library?

After doing the iOS7 update (and iOS7.0.2) I decided to add my music to my phone (I never had music on it before).
I discovered that there were 20 very random and obscure broadway songs that were on my iPhone in addition to the 60 songs I just synced. They had the iCloud icon by them, unlike the songs I had just added.
After doing research I found that the broadway songs were technically "purchased" on iTunes although they are not songs I would have ever purchased- in fact I have never once purchased anything on iTunes.  This isn't my worry though, I am assuming it must have been some random free download I did at some point?
I went to settings > music > and turned show all music off.  This did NOT work for all of them and only solved the problem 80%.  There are still 4 of the random song on my iPhone. They DO NOT show up in my iTunes library on my computer and don't even exist on my computer.
With the other songs I can left swip and delete but these 4 songs won't!  Why won't these four songs left swipe?
I am going crazy and have tried restarting my phone, restarting iTunes, re-syncing, turning off the iCloud.  NOTHING WORKS.
Please help.  I am a normally a very smart and tech-savvy person and I cannot for the life of me figure this out.  I don't want to wipe everything- which as a solution is a pretty weak solution.
Why won't certain songs left swipe to delete off my phone when I am in the music app?
Why do I have extra songs on my phone that don't appear on iTunes on my computer?
Where did these songs come from and how do I get rid of them?
    Much thanks!

  • Why do i have duplicate notes on my iPhone even so en settings on all is iCloud the only one check?

Why do I have duplicate notes on my iphone all my settings are check for the icloud only on iphone, ipad and macbook?

This is not due to malware on your iPhone. There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone, unless it has been jailbroken (ie, hacked to run apps from outside the App Store).
Someone hacked your e-mail remotely. Changing your password should remove access, but the spammer can still spoof your e-mail address on the From line and continue sending messages that look like they're coming from you. There's not much you can do about that except alert your contacts and wait for the spammer to stop and move on.
Alternately, some e-mail accounts provide features that can allow a hacker continued access even after you change the password. GMail, for example, has a delegation feature that can be used to give someone else access, and hackers have been known to use this feature to maintain access across password changes. I am unfamiliar with Windows Live Email, but you should check for any similar delegation features.

  • If I import will I have duplicate songs?

I have two computers; 15" Powerbook G4 and 20" iMac G5. Before giving my iMac G5 away I backed up my iTunes music to an external harddrive. I want to import it to my Powerbook, but am hesitant because more than 75% of the music I already have on my PowerBook and am afraid of having thounsands of duplicate songs.
If I import will I have duplicate songs?

Well... I tried again with the same results. Here's what I did this time:
    - Made 2 copies of the song that is already in iTunes. One had a slightly different file name as I'd duplicated the file - it had a 2 at the end of the file name. I put those two in an untitled folder and dragged that into iTunes. No duplicates, as confirmed by looking in iTunes, looking in the finder where that artist's files are stored and searching for part of the file name in Spotlight (the part that would be in common with all of the file names.) No duplicates. Nada.
    - Tried again with out the folder and still no duplicates. What do you think? Would it really be possible to drag in a whole slew of songs and only get the unique subset added to the iTunes library, without any duplicates? That would be great, eh?
    Any other thoughts?

  • I have duplicate songs displaying on my Ipod but not in my library.

I have an Ipod Touch, Itunes 10.5.33. I have duplicate songs showing up on my Touch, however, there are no duplicate songs in my library on my pc. as best as I can tell at this point, these duplicate songs on my Touch are purchased songs and I have only purchased them once. any ideas as to how to get rid of the duplicate entries on my Ipod?

I had this problem too. You just have to plug in your iPod to your computer. On the summary, there is a box that says "Manually manage music and videos". Uncheck that box. You now can add and remove music to your iPod without iTunes forcing anything. This also means that checks next to songs in your iTunes Library mean nothying while you are in that mode for that device (if this pressures you, you can re-check that box later). ANYWAY! So once you uncheck that box and click "Apply" in the lower right corner, you then open the drop down menu on your iPod's name on the sidebar and click music. This is a list of all of the music on your device. You now simply delete all of the doubles (this won't delete the songs from your iTunes Library. Your iPod will sync every time you delete a song. Once completed and you see no doubles on the list, you have the option to re-check the box with the automatic downloads (if you want) and your doubles will be GONE GONE GONE!
    Thank you for choosing Apple.

  • Silence in songs after sync

    Hi
Sometimes I have some bad songs after sync on my ipod touch , these songs have silence of 10s in the middle and then after all is correct
If I listen the song on my library ITUNES it's correct ( no silence ) and if I transfer again the song after delete it it's also correct
    Any idea ?
    Thanks
    Chris

I see this problem too, as have others here on the Discussion Forums.
There have been other posts about this and as far as I can tell, it's a bug. I've never seen a fix for this.
Please tell Apple and hopefully if enough people do so, they'll address it in a future iPod/iTunes update.

  • Can iPod nano playback on same song after sync?

    Hello,
Everytime when I add new music to my playlist on my ipod nano, I disconnect and go back to continue to play same song on where i left off, it randomly goes to a new song after syncing?! I always keep my playlist on shuffle, could that be the problem?   It does not happen to my podcasts, which continue on where i left off whenever I sync. I'm confused, please help

To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Mac
