HT1386 Why do I have duplicate songs on my iPhone but not in my library?
I have recently purchased a new album and now all of the songs show up twice on my phone but only once in my library. How do I correct this?
I have a completely untested & unconfirmed hypothesis that "something" changed in the last iOS update with the way iTunes keeps track of which items are on the device. My guess is that it has something to do with being able to identify the same track whether on the device, in your library or in the cloud. Whatever the cause I found I needed to manually delete a bunch of albums on my iPad that were showing as dupes or without artwork which didn't get resolved by syncing. Since I deleted them and resynced it has all been fine.
In the list type views swipe from right to left over the right hand side of an item (but keep away from the alphabet if it is showing down at the edge of the window). A red delete button should appear, tap to remove the item. In grid mode on an iPad holding your finger down on an item for about a second will produce a black & white cross at the top left, touch this to delete.
If all else fails backup and then restore the device.

whenever I put +¿Dónde Están Corazón?+ by Enrique Iglesias; album 95/98 onto my ipod everything is okay UNTIL i add all the other songs from Enrique Iglesias; album Insomniac onto my ipod.
I changed the 95/98 album to Insomniac so that they are in the same album. When I turn on my ipod and go to Music > Cover Flow, there are duplicates of the music!
But when I go into itunes and click on View > Show Duplicates, nothing shows up!
I have bought +¿Dónde Están Corazón?+ on itunes and the other songs i uploaded from my CD.
Thats the only place the duplicates of music show up, at Cover Flow although the ipod doesnt play the same songs twice. =/Connect your iPod to your computer and a dialogue box should come up asking if you want to transfer your purchases. If a box doesn't come up, click the iPod in the iTunes sidebar and there should be a button somewhere on the summary page to transfer purchases.
If you're in the US, you can also redownload your music buy logging into the iTunes store in iTunes, and clicking "purchased" on the right hand side of the store. -

Are the songs duplicated in your iTunes library on your computer? If they are, it will copy this to the iPhone, if they aren't, then I don't know how to help with that.
To ensure playlists are synced, plug your iPhone in (or select it from your devices if you use iTunes WiFi sync), click the "music" tab at the top (if you're using the latest version of iTunes) and then tick all the boxes of the playlists you want to sync. -
Duplicate songs in my 4S but not in iTunes.
I have duplicate songs in my iPhone 4S. But everything is normal in library. I have unchecked the "Sync Music" and then tried to syncronize. I thought that this would delete all songs from my iPhone, so after that I would add my songs again and I would have solved the problem. Syncronization was completed but only the HALF of the songs were deleted. I couldn't delete the other half from my iPhone. I checked the "Sync Music" again and tried to sync again. Nothing has changed. I deleted my whole iTunes library and resynced again, nothing has changed.
In the end, I had to delete every single song one by one (I had like hundreds of songs.) with this "slide to reveal the delete button" move. Many people have asked about this problem in this support community but no stuff has brought a soluotion so far. This is sad, really sad.
Note: These music files can be seemed and played in iPhone but they doesn't exist in iTunes, you can only see the proof of their existence at the bottom of the device summary section in iTunes, I mean the size indicators.
Note 2: The proof I mentioned about is dissappearing temporarily when I check or uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox. But after the syncronization it's coming back.
Note 3: The problem has occured this time (Yes, it happened few times before.) while I was texting to a friend during syncronization of new music files.

Istanbul, TurkeyAre these songs that you've purchased directly from your iPhone? If so, sometimes they remain on your iPhone no matter what you do, so when you transfer them to your library and then later sync them to your iPhone, you're left with two copies of each song.
If these are iTunes purchases made directly to the iPhone, connect to iTunes and click on the "Music" tab where you set your iPhone's sync settings. At the bottom of this window, below Playlists, Genres, etc. there is a category "Manually added items". See if you have songs in there -- if you do, select them all and click "Remove" then re-sync your iPhone.
If you don't see songs in "Manually added items", go to Settings/ General/ Usage/ Music/ All Music and tap "Edit" and then tap the "-" sign to erase any music left on the iPhone. Then for good measure to a Reset (press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until the Apple logo disappears, then release).
Another option may be to sign out of your iTunes account on your iPhone, then re-sync your iPhone. As a final option, do a Restore of your iPhone (first by re-loading your backup, and as a very last resort Restore again but without loading your backup, which means starting completely over with your iPhone). -
I have duplicate contacts on my iPhone, but there are not duplicates in Outlook on my PC or in iCloud. Can I just remove my iCloud on my account and recreate it so that the contacts refresh?
Be sure that you don't have syncing turned on in iTunes, otherwise you'll get data from both iCloud and the iTunes connection.

why is the ios6 compatible for all the iphones but not all the phones got the all upgrades, for example the panorama camera?? this is another reason I am starting to dislike apple. An ipod is able to us an upgrade but not all the phones are? makes sense

Ios 6 is not available for all iphones. Original Iphone and iphone 3 are not supported.

This is common for most any device/computer. Not all iphone/computer/device models can handle all of the new features. Like any device, hardware is limited and cannot always support all new features and software. -
Why do I have extra songs in my iPhone playlist that are not on my iTunes library?
After doing the iOS7 update (and iOS7.0.2) I decided to add my music to my phone (I never had music on it before).
I discovered that there were 20 very random and obscure broadway songs that were on my iPhone in addition to the 60 songs I just synced. They had the iCloud icon by them, unlike the songs I had just added.
After doing research I found that the broadway songs were technically "purchased" on iTunes although they are not songs I would have ever purchased- in fact I have never once purchased anything on iTunes. This isn't my worry though, I am assuming it must have been some random free download I did at some point?
I went to settings > music > and turned show all music off. This did NOT work for all of them and only solved the problem 80%. There are still 4 of the random song on my iPhone. They DO NOT show up in my iTunes library on my computer and don't even exist on my computer.
With the other songs I can left swip and delete but these 4 songs won't! Why won't these four songs left swipe?
I am going crazy and have tried restarting my phone, restarting iTunes, re-syncing, turning off the iCloud. NOTHING WORKS.
Please help. I am a normally a very smart and tech-savvy person and I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I don't want to wipe everything- which as a solution is a pretty weak solution.

However, I never authorized any purchases!! (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)

I have multiple songs on my iPhone 5s but not in my itunes. Is there anyway to get rid of them for good without manually deleting them? And is there any way to keep them gone so they will not sync again?

I think when i was charging my iphone and syncing iphoto, itunes synced. i never check the box that says "synce itunes when iphone connected' but this box somehow was checked. now i have double music, taking up a lot of space. Having to manually remove all the duplicate songs. this is the third time this has happened. I do not have the time to sit and manually do this. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and is there an easier fix? could turn off itunes match and turn it back on again, but then have to redownload my music individually, which is also time consuming.

Duplicate calendar entries on iPhone, but not in iCal (NOT using mobile.me)

I've had a problem for a while (since iOS 3) where I get duplicate events on the iPhone (3GS and 4). It seems to happen for events that have been edited/deleted - they are not edited on the phone, rather a duplicate is made. It seems as if what is supposed to happen is iTunes deletes the old one, then creates a new one, only the old one is not being deleted. This is very annoying, especially for recurring events that get edited several times!
I have found several posts about duplicate contacts and calendar entries but they all seem to be pointing to a conflict with mobile.me which I do not use. This is a simple sync between iCal and iPhone using iTunes.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?I used to have this issue on my original iPhone (the 2G from 2007). You have to reset your sync data. This should help you; http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627?viewlocale=en_US BUT don't shoot the messenger on this as I did a quick Google search.

Duplicate Family Calendar on iPhone but not on mac
I have a 2 family calendars on my iPhone and only one on the mac. Does anyone know how to remove one of the family calendars?
The only difference I see between the two is one says 'show events'. The other doesn't.

Facetime on my Mac sets up properly, links to my contacts, and appears to make calls (i.e., it "rings"). But it doesn't actually connect to the other person. However, I can make Facetime calls on my phone. Huh?

Use the OTHER option instead of iCloud or MobileMe. Use the alias as the email address. Incoming mail server is mail.me.com. User name and password is your primary acct name. Outgoing server is smtp.mail.com.

Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists? Also, you cannot use the "show duplicate songs" feature on the iPod - I suppose that is because it is not supposed to duplicate songs on the iPod. But, if that is the case - why does it do it?
Try resetting your iPod, press and hold the power and the home buttons together approximately 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work try going into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If that does not work try connecting to you iTunes library via the cable and un-sync the library from your iPod then sync the library. For the next 2 options backup your iPod first, then do a Restore iPod from backup, if that doesn't work... As a last resort Restore your iPod as New. I too had the red circle and square after updating to 7.0.4 the last resort fixed mine, others have reported doing all the above, all have had reports of fixing the problem and not fixing it. Give it a try, hopefully one of these works, Good luck.
