I have iPad 3. All updates are current.
I try to download a movie.
iTunes debits me for the movie indicating the movie is downloaded.
I then go to library -- there is nothing there.
I go to purchased nothing is there.
I go to downloads nothing is there.
I have signed out and in several time. Rebooted three times.
Turned off my iPad many times.
Nothing seems to work. The movies are lost somewhere.
Can anyone help?

Open the videos app, that's why it exists.

Don't know what this means. Once you download them once. They will never download again. You have taken delivery of them. They are now yours to keep up with, move/copy/backup.
For future downloads, they will download from any computer from which you have signed in.
You can open itunes on your computer and download the next one if you like, as long as you have not downloaded elsewhere.

I received a call saying a Trojan worm is affecting my Mac. The call was from India. Is this a scam? Or can I find a way of checking my computer myself? On 4-12-14, I paid to have my firewall fixed which had let in some maleware. The firewall is on now.

Today, 4-26-14 I received a call from India claiming my Mac was infected with a malware: a trojan worm and they were from Microsoft Support group. I did not believe them and ended the call. On 4-12-14 I paid a 3rd party vendor to fix my system connection for my wireless HP printer. The 3rd party found that I had not set up my Firewall correctly and had let in 31 malwares. It has been fixed, the Firewall is in place and all seems fine both on the Mac and with printer operations.
The question is, can I check to see that all is fine on my Mac easily so I can do my own assessment versus listening to a potential scam to sell me unnecessary computer software fixes?

It's a scam, ignore it. You don't have to worry about malware however your computer uses a pretty old version of OS X, if you can update the computer to run Mavericks 10.9.x I would strongly recommend that. This way your computer will remain even more safe as it will then be using a version of OS X that Apple continues to update and provide security updates for. The minimum system specifications for Mavericks are:

Yeah that works, but, it involves a click on the event, a click on edit, a click on the date, keystrokes, plus, since you can't see the next month you have to have a calendar in front of you so as to put it to the right date. It's easier just to cut it and advance the month and paste it, once you are in the right month you can move it around helter skelter willy nilly no problems. Although now that you mention it I will try it, maybe it is easier than cut and paste as I don't really care about the date, as long as it gets moved into the right month I can drag it around all I want.

Check to make sure that in iTunes Preferences that Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases is check or check in the iTunes Store under Purchased to see if it rests there. If you still cannot locate them, the report the issue to the iTunes Store.

When you say they are displaying in your iTunes library, are you talking about the Audiobooks section of your iTunes library and not the audiobooks section indented under the iPod in the left pane of iTunes under Devices?
Is the iPod Shuffle configured to sync audiobooks or do you manually manage the iPod's contents?

All the storage in "Backups" is taken up by local snapshots, which are made automatically in all MacBooks, MacBooks Pro and MacBooks Air with OS X Lion or newer and Time Machine turned on.

What is the GarageBand version? Not all plug-ins are compatible with the newest version GarageBand 10.0
The version number is shown in the "About panel" in the main menu bar: GarageBand > About GarageBand
If you are having the newest GarageBand 10.0, the Audio Units will show in the panel in the Smart Controls of the Track you selected.
Scroll the "Info" pane down all the way or enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the track area upward, until you see theAudio Unit Brick.
Most panes in GarageBand 10.0 can be scrolled. If you do not see the scroll bars, they will appear automatically, when yous start scrolling. Or enable them permanently in the System Preferences > General > Scroll Bars. This is useful, as long as you do not know yet, which panes have hidden items that will need scrolling, to make them visible.
The Smart Controls need to be enabled in GarageBand Preferences >Audio Midi.
Some Audio Unit plug-ins will no longer work, since the new GarageBand 10.0 is a 64-bit only application; the 32-bit plug-ins are incompatible.

Any of the above will work, depending how you would like to set it up.
Given that kids tend to eventually grow up and be independent, the best long term answer for most people is to let her have her own account and her own library as soon as she can handle it. Keep in mind that content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, so separating later is a challenge.
If you want to sync multiple devices to the same library, that will work. Or if you want separate libraries (as I would recommend), they can be either on separate computers or on separate Windows user accounts on the same PC.
For the name change: Connect the device. When the name appears in the left sidebar of iTunes, highlight it and change it.

You and your husband can share a store account and still have seperate iCloud accounts for your contacts, bookmarks and stuff like that. Click here for instructions to make an apple account without entering a credit card. Make sure you use a different email address for each apple account.
Set up your iPhone/iPad whatever using the new account for iCloud. Then go into settings/store and sign in with your purchasing account, you may need to sign out of the other account. To the best of my knowledge, your household is allowed to share purchased legally, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once you each have your own devices set to your own accounts you can set them to backup to that account and it will keep all your contacts seperate.
