HT1390 My Apple TV refuses to resume playing after I pause.

I've had Apple Tv for a couple of months and the last 2 movies I've tried to watch have refused to resume after pausing. When I click 'Resume' I get a yellow triangle and the message 'An error has occurred. Try again later' but of course it never comes good, and as I'm playing rentals, after 2 days I've lost any chance of getting my money's worth. Just a ripoff which Apple needs to to (a) fix and (b) compensate me for. Anyone having similar issues and is there a fix?

Yup, although I have not checked every other movies yet, but I know the few other I tried worked...

Hey Igor, Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Sorry that you have been experiencing problems with the video playback, have you tried performing a soft reset yet? This will not remove any data, only reset the device settings back to how they where when new.
To perform a soft reset firstly create a backup using Nokia Suite, then type in *#7780# in your phone and the security code 12345 by default if prompted.
If it does not work, you could also try and download a video playing app from Nokia Store to see if video playback functions better on it.
    I hope this has helped!

  • Playing after a pause

Does anyone have a good explanation as to why when my live program begins playing after a pause (I don't hit play, it starts automatically after 1/2 hour) does it pick up live, and not where I pressed pause? Isn't the whole point of being able to pause live tv, that you want to watch the whole show?
So: pause live tv, wait until it starts playing automatically (I think it's 1/2 hour) and it beings live, not where you paused. Yes, I can rewind, but that's crazy!!
Can there be any good explanation for this behavior?

Ok, just spoke to the extremely apathetic Verizon support person, who told me this is supposed to function this way (20-minute limit) to prevent screen burn-in, which Verizon could be held liable for.  Uh, okay. For one thing, a 20-minute limit seems like overkill to protect from screen burn-in. Every time it is paused, there is obviously a different static image displayed, which should be enough to avoid any long-term burn-in. In any rate, my Dish DVR stayed paused for an hour, then resumed from the point it was paused. That's the way a DVR SHOULD function.  I've only been a FIOS customer for a couple of weeks now and got it bundled with Internet and phone, but I'm just floored at the ineptness of the DVR service, not to mention the tiny HD.  It's looking more like I'll end up calling back to cancel the DVR service and go the TIVO route.
Just to let you know I have a Tivo and love it, but don't look for it to be the wonder box of all DVRs. It has issues with pause also. 1/2 hr buffer, if the 1/2 runs into another program, and you hit record, it records the current program and not what it has stored in the buffer. If I recall the Verizon DVR would record the buffer along with the entire program you had been watching since the time you started watching it. Feature I miss.
Once you know the different issues with the different DVRs, you do a work around. Like the other night I hit record to capture what was paused and had to go to another channel to see something, It recorded the current program on the channel that was paused, and my program was gone. When I went back what I was watching was gone. So no DVR is perfect, but I was able to upgraded my internal drive to a terabyte for 142hrs of HD. Tivo says opening the box voids the warranty. 90 days only on a refurbished unit and $50 exchange fee while you wait for them to get yours and another rebuilt box to come back. You can pay for another brand new TIVO and then get a refurbished one sent to you. You get credited when your broken refurbished box arrives Tivo. Could take six weekes to get your credit. Tivo warranty policy stinks, so why not void it. After 90 days it's probably going to be a drive issue anyway.
When the new Verizon DVRs come out, I will probably get one only if drive expansion is available via the external port. The new DVRs are said to have only a 320gig drive, which is better than the 160, but not much. Drives are dirt cheap now. $99 for a terabyte WD OEM drive. I am sure the OEM cost would be much cheaper if say Verizon was buying thousands. But the only way we will see what the new DVR is going to be, is to wait. My question is will it be $30 instead of $15.99, or $19.99.
If you can't wait, buy a TIVO with a one year commitment and $12.95 a month.
    Tivo cost over 1yr
$200/12=$16.67 for the DVR over 1yr. Approximate cost for a "Previously Enjoyed Tivo".
    + $12.95 Subscription
    + $3.99 Cablecard rental
=$33.61 a month if you do the Math. But you keep the DVR in the end, and your cost goes down because it is paid for.
    $403.32 for the year
    Verizon cost over one year.
    $15.99 for Standard DVR x 12 months $191.88
    $19.99 MR DVR x 12=$239.88
    The choice is yours.

  • IPod no longer resumes play where last paused

After the 3.0 update, I've noticed that after pausing the iPod and then using the phone for other things, it will no longer resume play where I last paused. For example, I shuffle almost 100% of the time I play music. If I pause the music to surf the internet or otherwise do other things on the iPhone, when I go back to play music, it is no longer paused on the last song it was playing ("Now Playing" should be displayed on upper right corner), but now starts a new shuffle; i.e., no previous songs played.
    Has anybody else noticed this?

    Hi!
I can confirm, that the playback problem, where iPod starts at the beginning of the first song on your iPhone, still exists with OS3.1. I have written my second feedback to Apple regarding this issue, one for 3.0 and one for 3.1.
I do have playlists in use, but I dont believe, that they have something to do with this issue.
If you also have the same problem, please leave a feedbac on http://www.apple.com/feedback.
    Thanks, bye

  • After pausing a purchased movie on apple tv unable to resume play

Paused a purchased movie which took four hours to download and now cannot resume it

This aspect of AppleTV2 is very frustrating for the many many users with slower internet.
By that I mean <6 Mbps for HD.
AppleTV2 has 8GB of solid state memory.
An average HD movie would be around 3-4GB.
It should be able to hold at least one HD movie rental until expiry and stream local content if it had a FIFO type buffer that emptied and prefilled as playback proceeded.
IMO it's badly designed - or at least there is the assumption everyone has unlimited fast internet - millions don't.
Please send feedback to Apple on this matter:
Apple - Apple TV - Feedback
They could if they wanted to quite easily implement a warning system to users with slow connections that a subsequent operation would delete a rental and ask permission to proceed - this could be a user selectable setting that could be turned on so as not to annoy those with fast/unlimited connections.  Even people with fast connections may get their connection throttled after using bandwidth quotas, and they may have monthly download quotas too.

  • Any fix for the Apple podcast app starting to play after a missed phone call?

I have the apple podcast app and every time i receive a missed call, after the call the audio from the app starts playing. I have an iphone 4 with ios 6.
    Thanks.

I'd also like to see a fix.

  • Sound vanishes resuming play after pause.

I upgraded my 32gb touch to the 2.0.1 software yesterday and it seems to have introduced a strange bug:
I press pause; when I restart the music by pressing play, the sound vanishes. Everything looks like it's playing on the ipod, the elapsed song time is incrementing etc, but no sound is coming out of the earphones.
I can make the music come back by returning to one of the music menus and select a song.
I can't reproduce it as it is intermittent but it has happened three times.

This has happened to me on 1.1.3. Looks like a normal soft bug. Best to just send it into Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html
    Thanks.

  • Why does my VOD movie, after pause timeout, never Resume Play but always starts over?

Two years, if I have to go to the bathroom and pause, I've been experiencing the issue that my VOD movie NEVER! resumes.  It always starts over.
    Any fixes Verizon?
Can't pause your 16 bucks a month HD DVR for VOD or Resume Play after pause timeout.  How is there even a pause timeout?
I know this is a flame but I'm tired of the **bleep** and if anyone has a fix I'd love to hear it.

Oops, Brian - I accidentally clicked the "this solved my question" button. No offense, but it didn't - not yet.
By "reset," mean it played for literally a few seconds, then dumped out of the movie and went back to the selection screen (in Netflix, this would be the screen with the movie description and Play button; in just the AppleTV interface, that would refer to the movie list with the chosen film highlighted, ready to hit SELECT to start it).
Sometimes, if I selected again (or hit Play), the movie would return where it left off (or within a few seconds to a few minutes of the scene). But other times, it would just jump back to the start of the movie, regardless of where I'd been when it dumped back to the menu.
Tonight, I tried something else, just to see if my wireless router is to blame: I patched a CAT-5 cable directly to the AppleTV from the router (same one that's doing the WiFi routing; it has four ethernet ports on the back). Netflix played flawlessly. HD all the way, no downressing to SD (or worse), no audio dropouts, no returns-to-menu. Since I don't have a long enough CAT-5 to reach the iMac, I have no easy way to test whether that would solve the iTunes Home Sharing issues I've been having. But just getting clean playback from Netflix tells me the wireless router is suspect here.
    The hunt for answers continues.

  • Resume Play with Mu

I purchased a MuVo 28 MB yesterday online (it is marked USB 2.0 on the outside of the package). I misunderstood that it was different than the NX model. Before I open the package, I would like to know if, with the firmware upgrade that I see is available, or in its nati've configuration, the player resumes play after you stop during a long MP3 file. I want to use it for radio programs, podcasts and audiobooks. I see that the NX and TX models can do that.
It appears from what I see online that before the firmware upgrade the model that I bought did not work that way. But I cannot tell if that applies to the model I purchased, or if the behavior changes after the upgrade. I do not see an answer in the online forums.
    Thanks.

    <SPAN>
<SPAN>I saw your post, and though I have a Muvo N200, I think I have the same doubt. When switching between folders (for example audiobook to music album) I'd like that the player remembers where I was in that folder. For music it's OK (even though I always hear the beginning of an album...), but for audiobooks, it's annoying having to forward through the files and inside the file to where I left off.
<SPAN>I believe this is what you're asking about. So I can tell you that as far as I know, the Muvo N200 does not bookmark the place it stopped inside a folder. Perhaps someone else can tell us if i'm overlooking anything.

  • Netflix/Apple TV should have a "resume play" option...let's make it happen!

Netflix's Roku Box is cheaper and has a "resume playback" button which holds your place when you watch a movie and want to revisit at a later time. With apple tv, you have to start allllll the way from the beginning and fast forward to where you left off (if you even remember where you left off). I am beginning to regret buying apple tv and think the apple team should update the software to include a resume play option so that it holds your place where you left off.
If anyone else agrees, let's tell the feedback peeps we want it added, otherwise why not just buy a cheaper roku box??!!!

Netflix on Apple TV definitively has resume playback option. Actually the same "resume playing / start from beginning" than the renting from iTunes store on the Apple TV. Don't know why you haven't seen it.

    Hi Goofy Goat,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting for your iPod nano that is not responding. In this situation, if resetting it did not resolve, I would suggest restoring the iPod back to its factory settings and then sync your content back onto it from iTunes. Please use the following article as a resource for restoring.

  • HBO Go: no resume play or recently watched

Just started using HBO Go. It's great, but it doesn't seem to be remembering any of my activity. Nothing is showing up in the Recently Watched list, though stuff added manually to the Watch Later list propigates across devices.
Most frustrating, when I return to a show, it starts at the beginning, with no "Resume Play" feature.
Any idea what might be the problem?
