HT1391 If a iPad is reset, how can I track it again, or when it is jailbroken.

Question

Mij two iPads (1 & 2) are stolen last 19 june 2013. I have put a erase on the iPad 1 and 2 but when I wanted this to change in lock and send a message it could not be changed.
When the iPads are erased or when some jailbrakes them, how can I get controle over the iPads again and locate them. The thieve stole also a iPhone 4s, wedding ring, three notebooks, Nikon D40x camera with foto's of our vacation.
I want all my stuff back, but how. The iPads are Wi-Fi's so I have to wait when the get online. I find it difficult to believe that the devices can not be locked agin when the are erased.
Is ther a way that Apple can restore the links for me. In the option in iCloud (find my iPad) is my iPad 2 gone and my iPad 1 is still pending on erase.
I want my iPad 1 (64GB Wi-Fi) back, because it has emotional value (First Apple product and in connection with the birth of my first daughter.

You can't. Once the iPads are erased, either by you or by the thief, they can longer be tracked since that erasure removes all the Find My iPad settings. The Erase command should only be used when you have content you at all costs need to protect and are willing to forego any possibility of tracking to ensure that the data cannot be accessed by a thief. The Erase command cannot be cancelled by any means I'm aware of. Most likely, though, the thief or whoever they sold the iPads to has already erased the devices themselves.
Sorry, but all you can do at this point is notifiy the police and hope they get lucky in finding the crooks, though the chances are small. Apple can do nothing to assist you in this matter.
