  • My laptop was stolen - How to find out the serial number

    Hi
Is there any way I can find out the serial number of my laptop, which was stolen yesterday? I'd like to log it as stolen with Toshiba but they ask for the serial number.
    Tnx
    Andy

    Hi
Usually the serial number was placed at the bottom of the unit.
There is a label which collects all these useful informations.
You have certainly received many documents with you notebook; i.e. warranty.
Check it and maybe you will find the serial number somewhere in the list

  • My laptop was stolen and I want to move all my songs from my iPad to iTunes....how?

iTunes wants to sync an empty library to my iPod.  I want to do the reverse so I can populate iTunes.  This seems so easy but I can't figure it out.

  • Where can I find a source to download thunderbird onto my iPad?

The regular download site won't download and safari says it can't download it. Is there a special link? I had it downloaded on my previous iPad.

There is no mobile version of Thunderbird and Firefox at all for the iOS due to Apple restrictions on what rendering and JavaScript engines can be used.
Thunderbird has only been for the desktop OS's as in Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.

  • My laptop was stolen but "Find My Mac" has located it. Now how do I get it back?

    Hi All,
Early this morning, a friend of mine called me to tell me her laptop was stolen. She asked me to help her track it using iCloud find my mac. The theives also stole her wallet and other things from her car so this isn't something that was just misplaced and an innocent person came across it. My question is, now that I know where it is (within a couple hundred feet vicinity) what is the best approach I can use to get this back for my friend? She's got years of family pictures and does not have the laptop backed up so this is very important to her. Any ideas?

    Please, any advise would help!
    Thanks,

Well, I did contact the police with all this information. They actually went to one of the houses with me (the one on the corner) and it was an old man who was very polite who lived at home alone and didn't seem like the type. Instead of knocking on the other doors with me, the police said, "Your locating program is probably just wrong and it's not here." he wouldn't knock on any other doors so I plan on going tomorrow morning and knocking but the chances of anyone confessing are slim so I don't know what approach to go at with them. I don't know why find my mac doesn't let you leave a message like find my iPhone because I would leave a message saying "this mac has been misplaced. If you return it, the owner will reward you with $500 without pressing charges or asking how you came across the laptop. Please call -------, but, no. All I can do is knock. lol

I'm on vacation and my laptop was stolen. Is there a way to find my serial number without the original packaging? I bought those apple classes when I bought the laptop.

Sorry my error. It only shows the computer name not the serial number. Go with "themachead" response copied below:
In your Apple ID - Profiles:My Products if you filled it out. Not only that you might be able to, via Apple ID & iCloud sign up/in and activate find my Mac. If you have not activated iCloud you can do that too.

The phone will automatically re-appear when it connects to the Internet. However, don't get your hopes up, as thieves know this & will make sure your phone never re-connects so you can locate it.

  • My laptop was stolen how can I re-sync my iphone to the new laptop without losing all of my data?

    Hi to all,
I hope someone can help me.  I know this question has been asked in various formats but I can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for, so please forgive me if this type of question is asked again.
My laptop was stolen a few months ago and I have finally been able to replace it.  The common issue of course is that I can only sync it to one iTunes library at a time, which was on my laptop that some thief is currently enjoying the use of.
I don't have a lot of money so all of my backups were on the stolen laptop as I don't have an external hard drive.  I understand you can authorize iTunes or the iPhone to go on upto 5 computers at a time?
As soon as I plugged in my phone (on the new laptop) I created a backup of everything on there using iTunes.  I guess my question is, if I plug in my iphone and ask it to restore from back up, will it wipe the phone and replace it with the first back up on the new laptop or will it still delete everything altogether as the original content is not on the new laptop?
As much as it would be a pain, the music content is the least of my concern.  It's more a case of making sure I keep my contacts, photos and purchases from the app store.  I have read somewhere that you can transfer your purchases but I'm not sure how to do this.
I really hope someone can help and apologies for the repeat topic!
Thanks in advance to any who take the time to read and reply, I will appreciate any input/insight you may be able to provide.

Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • My laptop was stolen and all my music is on my iPod Classic. How can I transfer it to my new computer and keep the playlists and such?

    Hey Everyone,
My apartment was broken into and my laptop was stolen which had my entire iTunes library.  I have it all on my iPod Classic now which was with me at the time.
What do you suggest as the best tool to transfer the music FROM my iPod to to my new computer?  I know there are some programs out there, what have you had success with?
My most important question is, is there a way to retain my library and especially playlists as it is (instead of copying over a massive bunch of songs)?  Most of my music is from music blogs, mixtapes and underground artists so most of it cannot be found in the iTunes store.
    Thanks for any help guys!
    Vlad.

I thought my product was already registered with your service. My laptop was stolen, how else may I provide my serial number if I do not have my computer any longer.

If you registered it in https://supportprofile.apple.com/ you can log in there with your Apple ID and find its serial number.

  • My laptop was stolen

My laptop was stolen.  I have a new laptop now but I can't transfer the content of my iPod (my iTunes library) to the new laptop because I can't deauthorize the stolen computer.  I've downloaded new purchases to this new computer but it won't sync to my iPod because of the association with the stolen laptop.  Help??

I assume the new compter has a new itunes account??? (Apple ID)
I hope you know both your old and new Apple ID's and passwords.  If not I can't help.  Also, make a good list of the items in your "new" account.
It is impossible to completly merge itunes accounts, but it is possible to to transfer some of the items if they are not DRM protected, or there are some work-arounds.
Please read all of this and make sure you understand what is happening before proceeding......What we want to do is 1) deauthorize your stolen laptop, 2) authorize your new laptop to your OLD itunes account, 3)transfer your old stuff to your new latop, 4)work around DRM issues with any of your new stuff
Do the following if most of your stuff is on the old ipod, and only a few new things are on the new laptop.
What you need to do first is deauthorize the stolen computer.  Start itunes.  Under the Store menu, pull down to sign out.  Then go back and sign in, but use your OLD Apple ID (itunes account).  Then under the same menu, pull down to "view my account" - it may make you sign in again.    You should then see a button aways down that says "Deauthorize all" - this will deauthorize all computers on your old account, including the stolen laptop. Once you have deauthorized the stolen computer, you then need to authorize your new laptop.  Pull down to "Authorize this Computer" under the store menu.  Again, it may ask you to re-enter your OLD Apple-ID and password.
    Read this very carefully
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US
If you follow this you should now have all your old stuff and your new stuff on your computer....but you still may have a problem.  The "new" stuff, if any of it has DRM (digital rights management) controls, won't play if you are signed in with your old Apple ID.   Alot of new stuff doesn't have DRM, so try things from the new list ans see what works and what doesn't
Some things you may be able to update to "itunes plus"  Sign out of old account, sign into new account, and look at "itunes plus" on the home screen of the itunes store.
Other things can be worked around.  It is possible to burn your tracks to CDs (normal CDs) from your new account, then import them.  Do not steal music.
Fianlly if there are only a few items that you cannot update or workaround, you can always sign-out - sign-in sign out....yea I know this stinks, but apple does not want us to be able to merge accounts and give each other all our stuff........
Again, I know this is complicated.....do not attempt if you do not think you understand the process of authorizing/deathorizing, and multiple IDs....
One final caveat.....if you think the person with the stolen laptopp can figure out your old apple ID and password, not not do this, call apple and get help on how to completely kill that account.....

  • My daughter's laptop was stolen. It is a MacBook Pro. Is there a chip inside for tracking?

my daughters laptop was stolen it is a mac book pro. is there a chip inside for tracking?

...if your icloud is activated on your macbook pro you should be able to track the ios' GPS location on your iphone (for example the find my iphone app or icloud.com) given the thief tries to turn it on...
...Mac’s location is pinpointed through transmitted location data from surrounding WiFi networks. Once found the mac can be remotely wiped or locked. The owner can also trigger a sound or send a message to any registered device through icloud.com. When a Mac is remotely locked with Find My Mac, a 4 digit PIN must be entered to re-gain access to the machine...
...you also need to take into account that there's a good possibility it was sold (for quick cash - say craigs for example) illegally. after you report serial and model number it to the local authorities check on your local trader sites...
...it would also be a good idea to contact apple and log the report...

Hi, my laptop was stolen and i want to be able to remove this form my home sharing.  Is there a way of doing this if the laptop is no longer in my posession?  thanks x

See this -> About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
To deauthorize all computers associated with your account
If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen.
Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers, or if you have used this option within the last 12 months. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact the iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww/).
Then authorize the computers you want.
