HT1391 Where is My Library?

iTunes help says that when you open itunes, it shows your library.  No, it does not!  Nowhere on that page is there a link to my library.  So how do I get to it?
(I have a shortcut to my library page on my Dell laptop, but I want to know how to get to it if I don't have it.  What Apple says does not work!  My iPhone is not a prob, BTW)

You library has no doubt vanished with all the other data on the disk that evaporated when you restored the operating system. I'm presuming you'd know if you had a backup and where to look for it.
See this post for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • My iPhoto has disappeared on my administrative side but other users have it. How can I get it back? And where did my Library go?

    I have a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.5
I am the administrator on this lap top.  We have iPhoto on my husbands side still, but I can't find my iPhoto in my applications folder. This Mac did not come with a disc drive so I do not have a back up for the application.  Also, where did my library go?  PLEASE HELP!!

If you husband has it then everyone has it. It would not be in your Applications folder, but the Applications folder at the top level of the disk.

Anyone know how to fix this?

You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

Users are not qualified to use the library anyway.
When it's following the Windblows lead, there should also be an option to revert this, to be able to switch the hidden files back to visible. Haven't been able to find that option yet.
Furthermore, I despise your remark about users not being qualified. When I buy something I have all rights using any and all part of it. Whether that's a sensible choice for each and every user is a whole other question, but to treat all users as one dumb-*** group is not good (IMHO).

Where is the Library in the users folder?

NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

where is the library folder in Lion?

I recommend all frustrated users to make LIBRARY permanently visible by following Tom Reed's instruction, namely, going into Terminal and typing the following command: chflags nohidden ~/Library   Otherwise, next time you need to access Library, if you are like me you will have forgotten the "Option-Go" trick
You´ll ask next: "but how do I access Terminal?"  If you search for "Terminal" in the Finder, it shows up.  Make sure the Search is of "This Mac"  and not "All my Files".  Once you see it, click on it and the terminal window opens up. The background inside the window is white and not black as sometimes pictured.

  • Where is user/library in Mavericks?

Where is user/library in Mavericks? I only have the HD/ library or system/library. User/library is gone and I desperately need the firefox bookmark file that was in there. Thanks!

To make the Library folder permently accessible from the Finder, starting with Mavericks, there is a setting in the View options to make the Library folder visible.
Note that will only be shown if you have your home folder opened.

    OK
    Here is a problem:
Last login: Wed Jul 20 21:45:31 on console
login(5262,0x7fff755a5960) malloc: *** error for object 0x7fc1fd200980: pointer being freed was not allocated
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
    [Process completed]
my terminal willnot take an input
    Now what?
    Follow UP ---
I fixed the terminal error by repairing disk permissions...
Now I can see my users library, and I'm happy again.
Why would Apple choose to hide the Library in Lion?

  • Upgraded to Lion - where are the Library & Application Support folders ?

Where are the Library & Application Support folders that were available in Leopard 10.5.8 ?

They're in the same location as before, but you need to use a method such as choosing Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and providing ~/Library/Application Support/ as the path.

It is still on your old computer.
Did you copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to new computer?

  • Where did the Library go?

    I use iBook G4 and iphoto 5.
I have a working iPhoto library with jpegs loaded from an external hard drive, The used space on the laptop hard drive reduced as I loaded the photos, but I have no idea where the internal library is located. The normal location contains an alias to a library on the external hard drive which has stopped working for other reasons.
When I right click on an open photo, which should provide an option to trace the library, the option is not there. Spotlight does not find any of the photos by filename. What other ways are there to locate the iPhoto library on my internal hard drive?

There's no Reveal in Finder command?
    In the Finder:
Use the Go Menu and select 'Go To Folder'
    In the resulting window type
    /Volumes
And hit return. A Finder window will open at that location. Can you see another iPhoto Library there? If so, drag it to the desktop

  • My computer where my itunes library is stored is no longer accessible.  how can i add songs to my ipod nano without losing the songs already on it.

The computer where i have my itunes library is no longer accessible.  How can I add new songs to my  Ipod nano without losing the song already on it?

You will need that library copied from the old computer. If not, then you can take a look at this in getting 3rd party software to recover your library from the iPod. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
