HT1414 error 1600 after a few second in water, any ideas?
Unfortunately, my iphone was in my back pocket and fell into the toilet for a few seconds. i got it out and dried it then put it into dry rice for 48 hours. Now it won't fire up but my Mac can detect it and wants to restore it to its factory settings which would be great.... what can i do? thanks
Well you never said the screen wasn't registering. It is probably a problem with the serial connector on your phone which could have gotten damaged because of water , which could lead the the USB problems mentioned in the article.
Take your phone in for servicing to an authorized repair shop.

Songs purchased from store only play back a few seconds and stop any ideas?
purchased from store only play back a few seconds and stop any ideas?
I think I might have found an answer - importing a folder and or Limewire!
Either Limewire mess's with the files, folder or your system or iTunes attempts to stop illegally downloaded files being played. iTunes might also do it if importing a lot of files in one go.
I imported a music folder that isn't mine from our home network drive that has a few tracks in it downloaded through Limewire. I re checked some of the files in Ableton Live and they are actually damaged! So I tried importing one of the Limewire tunes again individually after finding some info online (links to the pages at bottom) and the track plays no prob now. I also un-checked the "look for shared folders" in iTunes preferences.
For about 2 years now I haven't been able to import more than 3 files at a time which is why I imported a whole folder (about 50 tracks) just after the software update and C.D importing.
My concern is that importing a whole folder even without any Limewire downloads in it might well be treated this way by iTunes. Most of the tracks in our network drive folder that have been downloaded through Limewire are legit direct connect transfers from producer to producer or legit submitted tracks!
Hope this helps.

I recently installed Acrobat X for one of my users and he is now having an error with his SPSS software. Nothing else was done to his machine, so I beleive this has something to do with Acrobat or some of the other Adobe products I threw on there. This has never happened before and I have done countless installs.
Thank you for your time.Nevermind. Reinstalling the latest versions of the software fixed this issue. It looks like some files were overwriten and SPSS kept trying to reinstall intself.

Photoshop CC 2014 stop after a few seconds
I'm a CC subscriber and I recently updated my photoshop CC to photoshop CC 2014.
I can start Photoshop but it automatically stops after a few seconds. I've already tried to uninstall / install multiple times without any success.
When I read the file "amt3.log" in my temp dir, I can see "[ERROR] | | | | AMT | | | 7188 | ERROR: Failure Validating Product License!".
So it seems like a licensing issue.
Did anyone faced this issue?
Thanks for your helpI have the exact same error on the log file. I even tried the "nuclear solution" with no more results...
But as I tested the nuclear solution, I uninstalled Lightroom (which worked fine) and I've got the same issue, but I solved it by manually installing it (i.e without using the cc application) and it worked fine.
The installer I used for ligthroom : https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_lightroom
However, I can't get my hands on a similar installer for Photoshop CC. -
Display an error message during a few seconds
Hi!
When submitting a form, I am displaying a error message saying that the actions performed work fine. Afterwards I would like this message to disappear after a few seconds. How can I do that ?
in the function called by my action button that submit the form i have:
public void saveForm() {
// .... operations ....
context.addMessage(null,new FacesMessage("Everything is ok"));
}Hi,
I doubt if there is anything you can do from the action method
saveForm(), however this you can do it from the client side just
put some seconds delay in onload method in javascript and
redirect to some other page.
Thanks

Premiere Pro & After Effects close after a few seconds after the startup?
Hi,
I bought Creative Cloud yesterday and everything installed just fine. I haven't tried all Apps yet, but so far Premiere Pro and After Effects close after a few seconds after the startup. There is no dialogue or error window of any kind, the programs just shut down automatically.
The weird thing is that I had the trial before, but also uninstalled it, but then the apps worked just fine.
I searched the forum but couldn't find anyone with the exact same issue. I hope someone can help me out.

Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3 closes after a few seconds
Anyone having an issue with Acrobat 8 closing after a few seconds? I don't get an error message - it just shuts down. I tryed to re-install it but it doesn't work. Any clues?
Navigate to the C: drive, open "Program files" look for Acrobat 8 Pro folder and find the "exe" file for Acrobat 8.1 Pro.
Right click on the "exe" file, click "Properties". Then check the box "run the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP professional"
Close properties, exit
When relaunching Acrobat 8 Pro, It will request to be activated
activate and then it works.
thanks Bola

Video freezes after a few seconds
This is actually a continuation of a post I made almost a year and a half ago, trying to get video chat going so my mom can visit with her grandkids. The thread has been archived, so I can't post there but in case it helps here's the address:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1658017&tstart=0
We are both running Tiger 10.4.11 and iChat AV 3.1.9 (v446), although she's on a 1.25 GHz G4 with 1.5 GB of RAM, and I'm on a 1.8 GHz iMac G5 with 1 GB of RAM. We both have the exact same videocamera, Canon Elura 70, attached via Firewire. Both computers recognize the cameras fine, no problems there.
Anyway, my sister and I have tried 1,000 different things but nothing works. I can always see her but not hear her, and the connection is dropped after a few seconds, saying there's insufficient bandwidth to maintain the conference. She can't see me at all, but she can hear me. The chat usually ends with error -20 and sometimes -22. For instance, here's the log from our try today:
*2010-01-29 11:49:30 -0600: No data has been received for the last 10 seconds.*
*Audio channel info: local machine using 10.0.1.3:16386, expecting remote machine to send to 97.83.147.78:56754*
*Video channel info: local machine using 10.0.1.3:16384, expecting remote machine to send to 97.83.147.78:56752*
*Chat ended with error -20*
*Chat ended with error -20*
*Chat ended with error -22*
*Chat ended with error -22*
The thing is, we can video conference successfully (video and audio) with each other from separate rooms if we're both at her house, as well as from separate rooms when we're both at mine. However, when we're each at our own home, it won't work. She's got a download speed of 8.5, and mine is 8.3. Her upload speed is 1.01 and mine is 1.74.
I am connected through a router - SMC Barricade (SMC7004VBR), and a WebStar modem. We've both taken the tape out of our camera, set our bandwidth limit in iChat to none. System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming is at 1.5Mbps. I've learned how to access my router settings but I don't see a DoS or SPI setting. It shows firewall features are disabled.
We've also tried to connect with Skype instead, and I was able to see my sister without it freezing. But she couldn't see me, so it still didn't fully work.
I'm totally at a loss. Any ideas?
Edit: Forgot to say her modem is an Ambit U10C018.
Message was edited by: laburkeWow, thank you so much for the detailed response. I'm actually feeling a little bit of hope that we might get this figured out eventually!
iChat 3.x at both ends.
Can Login and show Buddy Lists
Can Send Visible Invites.
Can Start Video Chat but something says the Bandwidth is then not good enough.
Error Message.
All true, except she has never been able to see me unless we're both in the same my house.
The Intranet /LAN setting in Tiger for iChat 3 also returns Odd figures to
iChat so we have long said set it to 1.5Mbps which your last post says it is.
I take it you must have restarted iChat f not the Mac(s) since you changed
this setting ? (Just covering all bases)
Right.
Have you changed the range the SMC uses to miss the range the modem is using ?
The only change I've made to anything recently is in iChat prefs: Under Accounts - Server settings, I changed the top port to 443 because regular iChat kept disconnecting at odd times and I read somewhere that it might help. But we had this AV problem long before that, and after.
I see the SMC cannot Forward enough ports for iChat but Can do UPnP
(Universal Plug and Play)
Is it set to do UPnP ?
I don't see anything that says UPnP. It says:
GATEWAY
IP Address: 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: Enabled
Firewall: Disabled
On the Port Forward site there are two WebSTARs listed under
Scientic Atlanta
DO you have either of these ?
No, it is a DPC2100.
I could also do with seeing an old log of an Error 20 log.
They are stored in You Home Folder/Library/Logs/iChatConnectionErrors
Can you post the bits down and only down to the line that starts "Binary Images for iChat"
Pasted at bottom of this post.
Can you tell me if there is a Wifi and Ethernet connection to the Router ? (at > the same time )
My husband's PC is connected to the router via Ethernet. The only other things connected to it are the modem and my Airport Express so I can get online with my Macs. (I used to have the iMac connected by Ethernet before I realized I had an Airport card. Duh.)
Thanks so much for your patience and help!

Video chat breaks down after a few seconds
Hi. I need help.
iChat video chat breaks down after a few seconds. Audio is ok if I begin with it, but doesn't work after a failed video chat. The message that pops up afterwards tells me (in Swedish) that "No data was received during the last 10 seconds. Info about audio channel: local machine uses [IP]:16402 and expects remote machine to send to 83.xxx.xxx.xx:43787." Repeats the same for video channel. What am I to do with the network settings to make this work. I have now realized that this is not a software problem (since upgrading to 10.6/iChat 5.0 didn't solve anything) so it must be the router or my new Time Capsule's settings. But where do I start?
Thank you in advance,
RikardHi and thanks for your help,
I have now had a chance to try the chat again, works fine at first but after say 3-5 minutes the connection breaks in the same fashion as before, unfortunately.
One thing I noticed when flicking on Back to my Mac (just to try it for fun in Snow Leopard - it's never worked for me!) it first turned green, after which it said the familiar: that my router must be capable of UPnP or NAT-PNP. Funny, that was what I thought I had... Could this be connected to the iChat problem do you think?
About the NAT tab: it is really gone when Bridge mode is on, but it reappears when I change from Bridge mode, and when I did it really was on (by default?). I turned it off and changed back to Bridge mode. I have switched off ping as you said. No port scan or DOS/SPI switch anywhere.
I found a iChatConnectionError Log in my Library folder, here it is. Can you read anything from it? Sorry if I quote too much of it.
Thank you ever so much for your help and patience!!!
Cheers,
Rikard

NW_JAVA_700SP14_SR3 decompressing stops after a few seconds
Hello, everybody,
I downloaded NW_JAVA_700SP14_SR3 parts 1 to 3 sucessfully, but when decompressing NW_JAVA_700SP14_SR3.part1 it stops after a few seconds without an error message.
When checking the archiv there is no error too.
Has anybody an idea about this behavior.
Thanks, RuedigerHello Ruediger,
which zip-tool do you use? Is it up-to-date?
Is the size of the 3 files equal to the one in my screenshot? --> screenshot
And last, do you have enough disk space?
Regards,
Norman Schröder -
Hi I have Acrobat 8 and it keeps closing on its own after a few seconds. Any recommendations?
Hey Francisco,
Please let me know what OS version are you using.
Also, is there any specific error that you get.
Hope to hear from you.

Oracle Names server stops after a few seconds
Hi all,
Working as a Server admin and DBA installed Oracle report server. They came to me saying the Oracle Names Server stops after a few seconds.
There are 2 windows 2003 R2 32 bit servers, active passive config. The first server runs the service fine, this second server has the issue. Both servers were build the same..very strange that one would work and the other now.
Hereis the Event viewer log for the service failure.

on my ipad 2 video streaming stops after a few seconds, only sound is playing .what could be the reason and how to solve this problem.
I have a feeling that it may have started after upgrading to ios6.Hi,
Is this failing with Error 20 ?
Sometimes in a the router or modem if you use Port Forwarding then you are your Buddy may be missing the Screen Sharing Port.
The Screen Sharing part uses a different port to the Audio port.
As the port for Audio (And therefore Video) are known and can be port Forwarded it is the random Screen Sharing port that can be the problem.
iChat 3 info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1507 that includes Bonjour and Jabber info
iChat 4 info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2282
If you are not using (or your Buddy) UPnP then I would change the method of opening the port to that.
