HT1414 everything is wiped off of the iPhone

I was updating my moms iPhone 3 and it said it was backing the phone up but then I got an error message saying that it can't back the phone up. Now absolutely everything has disappeared off of her phone. It wont let me restore all of her old info. HELP

Is there actually a backup to restore?  You stated it failed during the backup.
Hopefully your mom has been using the device as designed by syncing contacts and calendars to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service, copying all pictures taken with the device to a computer regularly and keeping all media and content in iTunes.

  • Is there an App for turning the power on and off with the Iphone 5 as my button has stopped working

Is there an App for turning the power on and off with the Iphone 5 as my button has stopped working

No.  You'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation and replacement.  If you're still within the warranty period and a hardware defect is identified, the phone will be replaced without charge.

  • How can I get some actual support on here???   I want to know why I put a lock on my phone, when it can B plugged in a comp and B locked, yet EVERYTHING is wiped off my phone, and there is no actual support on this website...I can do the same on FB!!!

I have owned an iPhone just 3 months, and been trying to be optimistic about it, and give it a chance, but I see this site is not run by Apple technicians.  Thought I would have some support after taking the time to log in, and ask a question, hoping there might be a chance, that my problem could be fixed, but what are the chances of anyone seeing my question???  I saw the same question, poor lady had asked it back in Dec, of 2011...NO ONE ANSWERED HER!!!  Nothing about the iPhone has convinced me to stay with it, it's too fragile, U loose data when Ur phone is locked, and there is no customer support!!!   Thank U very much, but I will go back with Blackberry or maybe I will go with the new Galaxy... at least I will know when I lock my phone, it is in fact locked!!!   I can't get over the LACK of committment given to customers here, when they apparently take the time to come online, and go through all the nonsense of making a username, when there are no intentions of anyone from APPLE here to give support...it says support and after all is said and done, it's simply a chatroom!!!   Have a no chance of anyone seeing Ur question, have better chances of finding an answer on facebook!!!

This is a user to user support forum.  We are all iphone users just like you.
You are not addressing Apple here at all.
This is an odd way to ask your fellow iphone users for help. Berating oterh users will not help you.
    "it's too fragile"
No it is not.  i have never damaged one, nor has anyone I know.
" U loose data when Ur phone is locked"
No you don't.  Why do you think this?
"and there is no customer support!!!  "
Wrong yet again.  Apple has an 800 number and they have many retail stores and they have support articles that you can access using the search bar. Or you can contact them throgh express lane online
"but I will go back with Blackberry "
    Please do.
    Good ridance

  • Ringtones off of the iPhone and into iTunes?

As of yesterday I am now a Mac owner.  My PC crashed and I was unable to get any files off of it before it crashed.  I have about 30 unique ringtones on my iPhone that i made but I can't seem to get them off of my iPhone and on to my new Mac.  Help?

I was in the same exact situation as you. I had over 2,000 songs on my ipod that i wanted on my macbook... only way i achieved that was by purchasing an application that i found @www.thelittleappfactory.com called iRip. It's $20 and worth every penny. You can transfer everything from your iphone onto your mac. Hope it helps.

  • Getting photos off od the iPhone

okay, I had a bunch of photos on my phone and synced to my laptop. Then my laptop died, and I had to re-install the OS and iTunes, etc. The only copy of those pictures is on my phone. Is there a way to get those pictures off of the phone? Some way? Any way? There really needs to be a way to do a reverse sync from the iPhone. Any clues would be appreciated.

Just as an FYI, I am aware that I could mail the photos to myself, but the phone scales down images for emailing. Since my phot library contains only 41 pictures according to the app on the phone, and is using 30 MB according to iTunes, I would assume that the high res images are actually stored on there.
When I re-installed everything, I specifically told iTunes not to sync photos to avoid having it wipe the photos from the phone until I could find if there was a solution to this problem.

  • Can you take the back off of the iphone 4 to get to the battery, if so how, mine has no screws at all

i plugged my phone into itunes and my phone is in recovery mode, is ther a way i can just take the back off and take the battery out, i tried looking for videos on youtube but all the phones had screws on the outside where mine does not.

You cannot remove the iPhone battery. The screws are pentalobe screws which need a special screwdriver and they are located on the bottom of the iPhone on each side of the 30 pin connector port.
Disconnect the iPhone from the USB cable and press and hold the Home and Power buttons together until the Apple logo appears.

OS X Recovery requies a high speed broandband connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet as noted here > OS X: About OS X Recovery

  • Getting lots of data onto and off of the iPhone

Suppose I write a program for the iPhone that does audio or video editing, or anything else that creates large files which users will want to move to their computers; or users might want to move large source files from their computers to their phone for use with the program. What are the options for doing this? I can think of 3 ways:
    1. Use web access to upload and download files. This could be time-consuming for the user and expensive for the app developer if users are going to be sending potentially gigabytes of information to and from my server.
    2. Build a desktop program that has its own web server, so users can connect to their desktop directly from the iPhone app, as long as they have wi-fi at home; but making it cross-platform would involve a lot of extra work.
    3. The best option I can think of would be to implement an AFS, NFS, or SMB server in the app, which would allow the computer to mount the iPhone as a share -- but specifically only the files in that application's data store. This would be awkward (without background processing, the user would have to leave the app open while accessing it from their computer) but it should work, and it doesn't appear to run afoul of Apple's SDK agreement. The question which I haven't looked into yet is: is it possible to open a TCP port to listen for connections on the iPhone, or only to make outgoing connections?
    4. Conversely, an AFS client in the app would let users connect to their desktop computer to pull files, but this seems less convenient.
Can anyone think of other options I might have missed, that would make transferring large files less painful?
(The obvious right answer would be for the phone to act as a USB drive when connected to the computer, as most iPods do, so that files could be easily copied on and off. The next best thing would be for iTunes to provide an option to sync third-party app data along with its own data, but I can't see any way to do this either.)

if users are going to be sending potentially gigabytes of information to and from my server.
If your users are going to try to do anything with gigabytes of information and the phone you have giga-problems. You might rethink what you're trying to do. There is VERY limited memory on the phone (20-30MB reasonable). The phone runs at 1/4 speed or less than the typical desktop system.
You've outlined the main ways. Buy/download some of the file sharing or transfer type of apps to get a sense for them and their speed.

I have an iPhone 6 with ios 8.1.1 operating system. The Bluetooth pairs with my Sony car radio and works fine. However, the iPhone will not stop searching for other devices. This does not seem to affect anything, but I can't help but think it is using battery power.

    One possibility:
How do you know it is searching for other devices?  Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?
Why is it searching for other devices? Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?

  • HELP! ...I went to the apple store to get my iPhone replaced. When I left, happy & all, I realized I did not erase the data off of the iPhone I got replaced!! Does the apple store reset those iPhones so that information isn't stolen or tampered with?

I didn't know you were supposed to delete your information when you might get your iPhone replaced...

First, please understand we are not Apple employees on this forum, and we are not authorized to speak for Apple.
Having said that, here are two thoughts:
    1.  Did you sign a form when you left your old iPhone with Apple?  You might consider reading that form.  It may help.
    2.  You might consider telephoning the Apple Store and ask them about resetting your old iPhone.

  • Is there a way to turn the 4G radio on and off on the iPhone 5

I'm able to upgrade my phone on the 1st of March and was recently if there was a way in the settings or whatnot if you could toggle the 4G radio on and off. I live in rural Ohio and theres no need for a 4G radio in these hills but I'd love to have the phone so thats a big issue for me. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

    Settings / General / Cellular
The specific options available will be contingent on whether the phone is locked by the carrier. In mine, I don't have any LTE/4G settings available, but can disable 3G for better battery life (after which the phone links up to the carrier using Edge)
