HT1414 how do i restore old iphone 4s info to new iphone 4s

how do i restore old info on new iphone 4s

create a backup of your old phone either in itunes or icloud
then, get your new phone and restore from that backup. If it's restoring from an itunes backup, you'll need to plug it into that computer
if you're restoring the new 4s from an icloud backup, you can only do it from the setup process of the new phone

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How do I restore old 32GB 4s backup to new 16 GB 5s?

My old iPhone 32G 4s' screen quit working. I managed to get my old 4s backed up (this was no easy feat as iTunes expected me to respond to a prompt on my phone that I could not see). Then, I traded up to a new 5s.
On my first iTunes sync with my new 5s, it asked me if I would like to restore my 4s data to the new 5s. So far so good.  Easy-peasy, right? Wrong.
The process kicked off.  Within moments, my 5s begins a reboot.  Then i get a bombshell from iTunes:  The restore has failed. There is not enough space on my new 5s to complete the restore. "Ok"  No, not OK!
That was it.  The message went away and no further assistance was offered..
Now, to be honest, I didn't expect it to work the first time.  My new 5s has only 16GB (that was all they had available--5s inventories are dwindling with the 6 now on the market).  I can do the math; 32 is way bigger than 16GB I have now.
Yet, I never expected that iTunes would be this dumb.  I get it! Not all of my old iPhone's data is going to fit on my new 5s.  Still, I thought it would give me a chance to pick through my music and photos from the backup data and select what I wanted to transfer.  Or, I might have settled for an option to restore only app data,  settings, photos, etc..and leave the audio files behind--they are still in my Library after all.
So am I screwed?  I hope not.  I good chunk of my life is entombed in that 4s backup---I have to find a way to get the photos back for sure.  A third-party utility, perhaps?

  • How do I restore a previous back up onto new iphone after initial set up

is there a way to set up your iPhone as a new iPhone and afterwards restore a back up done earlier on a different iPhone?  Can this be done without connecting to iTunes on a PC as my PC is not working properly.  This is frustrating me hugely as we activated an iPhone with another persons SIM and it was pulling through their mobile number if restored at that point.

You don't use iTunes or a computer to restore an iCloud backup, you only use wifi.  To do this after setting up your phone, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

  • How do I restore old postfix mailboxes into a new OD user?

    Hello:
I've had to rebuild my OD from scratch, and I cannot seem to find a way to import the old OD user's mailboxes (from another 10.8.2 server) into the new mailboxes created when I created the new OD realm and users.
Nothing has been deleted, I just need to rebuild the references to the proper HEX-hashed in the Directory...
    HEEEEEELP!!

If the users old directory was AEAEAEAEAEAE
And their new dovecot maildir is:    EFEFEFEFEF
    rename AEAEAEAEAEAE to EFEFEFEFEF
    make sure permissions are correct
Of course, the tricky part is figuring out who owns each of those old directories.
you can go into the old maildir, look at a few message headers to see who they were sent to.

  • How can i restore old backup without deleting my existing data

how can i restore old backup without deleting my existing data. unfortunately i have deleted few of my old photos and restored them from my old backup. i got the deleted photos but lost my recent data and photos. how can i get those too.

You cannot. However, if your back up is through iTunes on your computer and you do an internet search for something like "iPhone BackUpExtractor", I believe there is software that will help you access the SQL database that is your back up. You may be able to pull out what you need.
Once you restore from a back up, any data that was on the phone is gone.

  • I want to change the sync on my laptop from my old iPhone 3GS to my new iPhone 4s,how do I do this?

I want to change the sync on iTunes on my laptop from my old iPhone 3GS to my new iPhone 4s,how do I do this?

    maybe be more specific...
you can sync multiple devices to the same itunes account on the same laptop.  Simply plug in the new iphone 4s and check off all the settings you want to sync (apps, music, playlists, books, videos, etc).
If you want your iphone 4s to look exactly like your 3gs...
    1. do an icloud backup of your 3gs
    2. restore your iphone 4s to factory settings
    3. when setting up the phone, choose "restore from icloud backup"
    4. choose the most recent icloud backup (should display the date and time of the 3gs backup you just performed
    5. phone will load everything just as it is on the 3gs... onto the iphone 4s

  • HT201269 I have new iphone and all data were restored but my music! How can I add my music from Itunes and new iphone?

I have new iphone and all data were restored but my music! How can I add my music from Itunes and new iphone?

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. If you have any such you will have to retrieve them from the original source, or see: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.
Apple also has this tip for copying data from an old phone to a new one.

  • How do I get content from my old iPod Touch to my new iPhone 5?  My iPod Touch is too old to use iCloud

How do I get content from my old iPod Touch to my new iPhone 5?  My iPod Touch is too old to use iCloud. I have activated the phone but am stick at the point of the set-up where my 3 choices are:
    1. Set up as new phone
    2.  Restore from icloud Backup
    3.  Restore from iTunes Backup
    thanks!

If your iPod touch music is in your iTunes library, you just need to sync the new iPod nano with iTunes, the songs will be transfer to your new iPod. If not, you can follow this guide to transfer the songs from iPod touch to iTunes first, and then re-sync them to your new iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

I used the following method, which means that your contacts are permanently on your iPhone (the problem with syncing to Gmail in order to 'transfer' contacts is that you need the gmail account to be active all the time in order to see the contacts), take an example of transferring contacts from Sony to iPhone:
    1. Transfer all of your contacts to the Sony Experia's internal storage. It will create a vCard file.
    2. Connect your Sony Experia to a pc
    3. Ensure that you can see the Sony Experia's internal storage files, and identify the location of the vCard file (for me it was in system/PIM)
    4. Set up an email account on your iPhone
    5. Email the vCard file to the email account on your iPhone
    6. Open the vCard file attachment on your iPhone
    7. You should now see your contacts and automatically have the option (in the same screen) to 'Add all xxx Contacts' where xxx is the number of contacts in the vCard file
    Hope that helps.
