You can't upgrade from the iPhone itself. It must be done from iTunes on a computer.

On the mac, only contacts in the "iCloud" section will sync to other devices. Those in the "On my mac" section do not. Could that be your problem?
To test the icloud situation, log into icloud.com with your mac's safari and to to the contacts page. What you see there is what icloud has received from mac and iphone.

If you update via Settings>General>Software Update noting is lost unless there is a glitch. Thus make sure you backup your iPod to both iCloud and iTunes.

Settings>General>About>Version ...will tell you what iOS you have. If your are running iOS 4.2, you need to use iTunes on your computer to update.

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

Hi Percy,
Oracle distributed does not support objects. If you are using 9i there might be just enough functionality to support what you want to do (replication required some distributed support, which might be enough for you).
If it doesn't work then you may be out of luck with respect to distributed support, but you can connect to the remote database and update it that way.

Do you mean you changed your existing apple id to a new email address, still associated to your existing apple id?
If that's the case, just click the sign out button in the icloud preferences, and sign in with the new email address.
If you're actually created an entirely new apple id with your new email address, you'll have to do some exporting/importing.
