How do I restore deleated files? I recently accidently deleated the recently played & recently added files from my playlists. How do I restore them?

Restore from backup if you backed up with the data you deleted. Make sure that you do not update now since the previous backup will be overwritten

Thanks for this, I had the same issue. Another related query- moving my music now means that in the i tunes library on my pc all the information like my star ratings, times played, date added and playlists created appear to have been lost. I haven't synced with my ipod yet- which still has all this info on. Is there anyway I can repopulate itunes in my pc with the info on the ipod?

  • Restoring the original "Recently Added" Playlist

I accidently deleted the "Recently Added" playlist, and its accompanying path and logic when new songs are purchased and/or ripped that are automatically put there. Is there any way to restore the playlist and its original functionality? THANKS.

This is simply a smart playlist which can re-built using the following criteria "date added is after", you pick how much time you want to use such 2weeks ago, 1 month ago, etc.

  • HT1414 I updated to new ios and i accidently hit the restore button and now i have old pictures and text messages on my phone is there anyway to get my info back on my phone that i had before the update?

I was updating to the current iso6 and forgot to click new phone in I-tunes when updating instead i clicked restore and now I have old info on my phone and all my current info is gone is there any way to get that info back.

Setting up as "new" will set the device as if it were just taken out of the box.  This certainly would not restore any content that was on the device.
Sounds like what you want is to simply restore to a more recent backup.  You did backup the device prior to updating correct?  If you did not, it's unlikely that you can get the content back.

  • When I sort by date added in Column View in Finder, how can I make the most recent files appear at the top of the list?(Mavericks)

In 10.8, when I sorted Finder by date added or date created in column view, the most recent files would appear at the top of the list. Currently, this happens as it should in every single view mode EXCEPT column view (which is pretty much the only view I ever use). Currently, I have a folder with over 2000 files in it that date back to 2011, so now I have to scroll for like ten minutes just te get to files that were most recently added. Who in their right mind would want to sort by last modified with the oldest result listed FIRST? Ridiculous. I can't figure this out. Any help?

Thanks for the reply leroydouglas! Unfurtunately this doesn't cause the column to be ordered correctly either. After selecting this option, the files seem to be ordered by label, and the most recently added file is somewhere in the middle of the list. I'd like it to be at the top, and have other files/folders descend in retrochronological order by their add date.
Any other input from the community would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just confirming that this is/is not expected behavior. I'd be super bummed to find out that this IS expected behavior, as it's really counterintuitive and extremely inconvenient.
    Thanks again!

  • Can't restore Folders e.g. Radio and Recently Added etc

I made a mistake and removed the wrong folders. Reading from the top, I have:
LIBRARY Music - Movies - Podcasts // STORE iTunes -Store - Shopping Cart - Purchased // PLAYLISTS [my own playlists are all there]
And that's all - I've uninstalled iTunes, downloaded the latest version, but it reinstalls exactly as above - i.e. I can't restore my iTunes to the default.
I've looked through Help, looked through a book I've got - no use! The reason I liked the default folders is (1) I could see at a glance "most recent additions", "radio stations" &c ...
Hope someone can help! - Thanks in advance.

I can't recall all the default playlists but they are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    "90s
Match the rule "Year">"is in the range">"1990">to>"1999"
    You can do 50s, 60s, 70s & 80's by adjusting the range
    Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
    Top 25 Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most often played"
    Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.
    Top Rated:
Match the rule "My Rating">"is">"5 Stars" You can make that as many stars as you like from 1 to 5. Or you can make your rule "My Rating">"is greater than">"3 Stars" for example.
For all of these also check the box "Live Updating"
You can read more about smart playlists here:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Smart Playlists.com
You should be able to get "Radio" to appear in the source list if you go to Edit>Preferences>General and beside Show: tick the box "Radio".

  • Photos have disappeared -- how can I find them?

Because of problems I had been having with iPhoto being unable to delete or add more items, yesterday I had an additional hard drive added to my iMac, thinking it was a lack of memory problem. Unfortunately this didn't help at all despite moving all the photo and movie items over to this new hard drive. I thought there may have been two or more copies of iPhoto on the computer. I had 1300 photos in the library.
I followed the advice in earlier posts re this problem (items not showing up in library) and copied the old iPhoto library to the desktop and created a new library and tried to transfer the original files to it. Only half of them appeared.
Those missing are the most recently added and of course are the ones I really need. They are not in any library folders that I can find. Have they gone forever, or might they be hiding somewhere? Your help very much appreciated as I need these photos to put up on our business website.
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds to this plea for help.

    Casuarina,
I have no idea how you got different libraries. the only way to have more than one library is to create one yourself, and you should certainly remember if you created one. If you ever rebuilt the library in an older version 2 iPhoto, then you would of had on old iPhoto Library, and the new rebuilt iPhoto Library_1. You can delete the older one because the new rebuilt one has all the images.
Import all the images into your current library, then delete the old libraries you imported from. Keep that library in the Pictures folder. I am not sure how iPhoto likes PICT files, so it is advisable to convert those to jpeg before you import them into your new library.

  • How do I add a folder to the library into the smart playlist called "recently added"?

Hello Apple users! I really miss the old version of I-tunes that allowed you to manually add files and folders from your hard drive directly into individually created I-tunes playlists with nothing more than copy and paste. I don't mind that the new version requires some additional steps, like having to go through "add file/folder to library" onto a temporary "recently added" sub-master list, from which I could then transfer them to the sub-folder playlist categories afterwards...except that I can't! The I-Tunes Playlist window does not have a "recently added" category already there, so I have to manually create one ("new smart playlist"), and then create a set of "rules" to then have a writeable clean slate onto which each new "add file to library" could go...This works only for the first folder I add, but then after I copy them to their sub-folder destinations, I can't delete them to make room for the next batch, nor does the next batch even go in...I've then tried deleting the current "recently added" smart list and creating another, (with a new set of rules) , and then tried adding the next group using "add files to library", only to have the original batch come back up again and the new batch not...Apparently, I can add all the files and folders I want, but they only go to one place, which is the main master list under "library" and they all get mixed in together and are virtually impossible to find!
I have about 20 playlist folders on my C drive under "My Music"...How do I get them onto I-tunes anywhere except scrambled in random order?

    Boca Babe,
Just add them to your iTunes library, and then sort as you wish.
Don't try to add things directly to Recently Added.  Recently Added will pick songs up automatically, e.g., all songs whose "Date Added" is in the last X weeks.
If you would like to add files or folders of songs directly to a playlist, create a regular playlist, not a smart playlist.  Then open it and drag the files/folders into it.  They will be added immediately to that playlist, and to your library if they are not already in it.

  • "Recently added" playlist has disappeared - how do I get it back?

Recently Added playlist has disappeared - how do I get it back?

Use the iTunes File menu > New smart playlist.  The rules shown below are the rules used in the original recently added playlist, but you may change them if you wish.

  • Recently added playlist is gone.. how do i get it back?

i accidentally deleted my recently added playlist and i dont know how to get it back. I would just make a new one but it wouldn't take of the "older" songs as time went on. Please help me figure this out.

Use the iTunes File menu > New smart playlist.  The rules shown below are the rules used in the original recently added playlist, but you may change them if you wish.

  • How do I delete the recently added songs "List is getting to large

I am unable to find ,how to delete the "RECENTLY Added" songs after having  moved them to the various ctegories I selected

The Recently Added playlists in iTunes is a Smart Playlist.  So in order to remove songs from this list you need to either wait until the song is no longer qualified to be listed in the Smart Playlist (more on that in a minute) or you need to adjust the rules out the Smart Playlist accordingly.
Either way though, this playlist hardly takes up any available hard drive space as it is just a list of pointers to your actual song files and not duplicate entries or anything of the sort that would be eating up significant amounts of drive space.
If you'd like, you can edit the rules out this Smart Playlist in iTunes to contain a smaller set of tracks or change the Date Added rule to only keep songs from a smaller time frame to help reduce the size of this playlist.  To do this, right->click on the Recently Added playlist and select Edit Smart Playlist. A new window show pop up.
In this window, you can the Date Added rule so that it contains tracks that were added in the past X (X being a number of your choice) number of days, weeks, or months.  You can also enable the Limit to X (X again being a number of your choice) rule to contain a smaller or larger number of items, GBs, MBs, hours, or minutes. To enable it, simply place a tick mark next to the rule.
When you are finished editing the playlist, click the OK button. If you did make any changes, the list should update dynamically immediately and will continue to do so as time goes on.

  • How can i organise my tunes in order of ***most recently added to playlist***. Playlist, NOT library!

    Hi everyone,
this is my first ever post on a dicusion board so lets see...
i would like to know how to, if it is possible... to organise my songs of a playlist to show my most recently added songs (to my playlist, not library) at the top and so on.
all of my music has been on the mac for a while so it orders is on date added to LIRBRARY and not when i added it to my playlist.
i want to see my recently added songs of my playlist first.
is this possible and if so can someone help me please!
    Thanks
    Mez

    Hi Mez,
Are you talking about a regular playlist, not a smart playlist?
If you drag a song to playlist to add it, the song will be added at the end of the list.
So to reverse the order and have the most recently added song first, just select the playlist and display it in list view. Click the triangle in the header row of the leftmost column showing the numbers and revert the play order.
    have fun

  • How do i get my recently added folder onto my iPhone?

my recently added folder and most listened to folders wont show up on my iPhone, why?

    Hey man!
Basically those playlists were just 'Smart Playlists' created by iTunes.
To re-create them, click File > New Smartlist. Then select 'Date Added', 'in the last', '2' and 'weeks. Live updating should be checked!
Then name the playlist 'Recently Added'
    Hope it helps!

  • I have more songs than can fit on my ipod.  How do I add the most recent when I sync?

I suppose sometime I will have to get a bigger IPOD, but I still love hwat I have but like to mix up the music.  I now have too many songs on my computer to load on my IPOD.  Is there any way to automatically load the most recently added tunes when I sync or do I have to manually deselect tunes I don't want to load?

    Hello sifishman,
Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel on this one or explain it myself, have a look at this Apple support document.  Should be able to answer your question.
