HT1414 I am restoring a new iPad, using iCloud, with all my old iPads info, it is taking forever, all day and I'm still only an 8th of the way there.  Is there any way to speed up all the game down loads or is there a way to re-organize my game icons manu

I am restoring a new iPad, iCloud, with my old iPads info, it has been downloading all day and it's only 2pages in on my game apps out of about 10 pages.  Is there a way to speed this process, or is there a way to move my icons so that the games I want are at the beginning of the line as opposed to at the end because their name is alphabetically last

There is no way that I know of to speed up the download. Restoring from an iCloud backup will take as long as it takes in order to download all of your iPads contents. You commited to iCloud and now you have to wait until everything finishes downloading.
This relies on your WiFi connection speed, so unless you can speed that up, you just have to wait.

  • Why can't i restore my new phone using iCloud?

I recently had to take my 4s in due to a battery life issue and so I backed up using icloud but when I setup my new 4s I used the backup from icloud option, entered my login info but was then told there were no backups available. Any help would be much appreciated

Your new iPhone has to have a version of iOS that is at least as new as the iPhone used to make the backups.  I'm not talking iOS 5, but the entire version number (5.1.1).  So try updating the new iPhone.

  • TS4036 hello there, my old phone was stolen and when trying to set up the new one using icloud it says: No backups available, even though i can see my last backup saved both on the new phone and my ipad, any bright ideas please?

My old phone was stolen and when trying to set up a new one and restoring my last backup from icloud it says: No backups available, even though i can see my last backup is saved/still there both on the new phone and my ipad, can one only restore from an earlier saved backup during the intitial set up of the phone, or are you also able to restore/pick up an older version later after is i set it up as a new phone?  is any bright ideas please?

Did you figure this out? I'm having a similar issue.
    Thanks!

  • Is there a way to sync my blackberry contacts and calendar with my iPad using iCloud?

I still use my blackberry and am not giving it up so quickly...but in the months Ive been using my iPad it has definitely become an alternative at times.
Therefore is there a way tp sync my Blackberry contacts and calendar with my iPad using iCloud?

You three would do better to sync to google directly.  Google has a blackberry app that will allow you to sync your contacts and calendars.  The app isn't perfect, but it works reasonably well, especially if you're just using one calendar to sync.
Then there's plenty of ways to sync those to your iPad using Google, including Exchange, or simply adding it as a google account.
As for iCloud, there really isn't any supported or unsupported method to do what you're trying to do, at least at this time.  If there is, it would definitely be a hack and I would be wary of risking your contact or calendar data on it..

If you restored as new, without using a backup, and still only get an option to restore, there is a hardware problem or the phone was previously hacked (jailbroken, downgraded iOS, unauthorized unlock).  Your only option is to take it to Apple or whoever provides iPhone service in your country.

  • I activated my ipad, used iCloud & Find my iphone with Apple ID named: A@.... But now I've changed address of Apple ID from A@... to the new one: B@... Which Apple ID will be asked to re-activate 7.0.4 ipad - A or B?

    Hello everybody!
I'm using ipad mini and the iOS is 7.0.4. I used an Apple ID (called: A), and I activated my ipad, used iCloud & Find my iphone with this A account. But now I've changed address of Apple ID from A@.... to the new one: B@.... (just changed email address of Apple ID, not create a new ID), and then I signed out iCloud, old Apple ID, etc... on my ipad and signed in with new id B@.... Everythings seem OK, I can sign in/out iCould, turn on/turn off Find my iphone as well with the new one (B@...)
But I still have a question (and still confusing with it): What will happend when I restored my ipad? I mean my iOS is 7, so which Apple ID will be asked to re-activate my ipad after I restore it, old id A@.... (this one cannot be used now) or the new one B@...., please?
Thank you very much for your helpful informations!

If you've succesfully changed the ID for iCloud and Find my phone, it will be your new ID you use if you need to restore it.

  • How can I get my data from a old iPad to a new iPad using iCloud and not iTunes

How can I get my data from a old iPad to a new iPad using iCloud and not iTunes

Restore from the iCloud backup - assuming that you were backing up to iCloud in the first place. If you weren't using iCloud for backup - then you are out of luck.
If you were backing up to iCloud - you have to erase all contents on the iPad in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings - before you can restore from the iCloud backup.

Why is there over ten thousand file in my "All My Files" on my new MBP. I'm very new at using ICloud. I don't understand syncing vs time vs time vs syncing! I simply have not idea how to manage my files now. I read short comments & how to's in the support sections, but nothing I've read so far explains"best practices" or turning iCloud off to get a grip on managing files. I have 250gb fast storage on the MBP itself, and 200gb in the ICloud, one would thing that's enough. The files seem too be multiplying like rabbits. IPhoto's Faces has created hundereds of "somethings" not sure what. I am sure I am very frustrated! Please comment with kindness.

Yes,I am confused. To say its just another drive is a "buzz statement".
OK, for example. If I download a document, song, or photo from ICloud, as I understand, it goes to Download in Finder. If I want to move it to a local folder of my choice on the solid state drive in my new MBP, does a copy always stay in ICloud? How do you housekeep? I have always  used to a physical drive. What is different about the mind set.  I used ICloud to store the contents of my old MBP. Once I download all the files I need, should I turn off ICloud and manage the file locally? I don't like the automatic movement of files when I don't understand the locations.
    Nope, you don't understand it.
If you download a song from the iTunes cloud storage (which is not iCloud) it goes into the iTunes music folder (generally to a subfolder therein)
If you download a document from the iCloud drive it will go wherever you chose to put it.
If you download a photo from the iCloud Photo library it will also go wherever you choose to put it.*
If you move something you have not copied it, if you want to keep a copy on the iCloud drive and in a local folder, you would copy, not move it.
There is no 'automatic' movement, you decide what to store on the iCloud drive (exactly like any other drive) and what to remove.
The iCloud drive appears as a folder in Finder, you use it just like any other, copy/paste, save, delete etc.
You can turn the iCloud drive off whenever you like, download the content to a local drive first.
    * Because the iCloud drive appears as a folder in Finder there is in fact no need to ever download anything to your Mac, everything on the drive is already on your Mac.

What different Apple ID? Yours? Your friends? Your dogs... ? I think we are going to need more information. You're probably best setting up the phone as a new phone and restoring from iCloud later on.

Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book app used by Windows Mail called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
Before syncing contacts with an empty Windows Contacts address book, enter one contact in Windows Contacts. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data which you want to select. Syncing direct with Windows Contacts via the iTunes sync process is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Can I restor data from an old iPhone to a new one using iCloud backup?

I’m going to buy a new iPhone, can I restore my data from the old iPhone to the new one using iCloud backup and is it safer to back it up on my PC?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I don't use iCloud back up, but I understand you can do that.
It's always better to use a mac/PC based back up, I'd only consider the iCloud back up if I didn't have a mac.

I have recently begun to use Pages and want to transfer a document between the iPad and my PC. I can transfer to the iPad, but not the other way, and am told I do not have sufficient 'privileges'. What does this mean? Also I can't use iCloud with Pages between the iPad and PC,  although I purchased extra storage in order to do this.

If you have a PC, you don't have Pages on it. You can transfer Pages presentations to/from iCloud via http://www.icloud.com , however -- you just won't have an app on your PC to deal with Pages documents. Make sure that you have your iCloud account properly configured on your iPad.

  • How can I sync app data (e.g. game status) from iphone to iPad using iCloud?

I just got the new iPad, and would like to continue some of the games from my iphone. I have downloaded these previously purchased apps from the app store, but is there anyway I could sync the game data from my iphone to m ipad using icloud? It only works for some games where I could sync games status with icloud (which means i can play on whichever device and progress is saved in icloud), is there a way for all apps to haave this? I dont want to restore my ipad as my iphone.

I have just started using game center on my iPad 2. I had previously been playing Temple Run on my iPhone, once I had logged in on both devices my achievements from my phone transferred to my iPad but not the points I had accumulated for power ups etc in the store.
If the only way to transfer game progress is to restore from a back up how come my achievements have synced across? Isn't there a way to sync store points across as well?
There seems to be a lot of people on this forum asking the same question so I hope someone out there can help!

  • I loaded photos to my new iPad2 using iCloud. The photos went in all jumbled up. Now I can't delete them or delete the albums. How can I delete?

I loaded photos to my new iPad2 using iCloud. The photos went in all jumbled up. Now I can't delete them or delete the albums. How can I delete?

Well, typically one of the fixes that I would suggest is to try to delete the waiting icons. WIFi in a public places like McDonalds, Starbucks, B&N, etc. is not the greatest and I would avoid those places for downloading and updating apps. But I do realize that not everybody has access to Wifi in their homes.
These are all things that have worked at one time or another for other users. Hopefull one of them will work for you. Just ignore whatever does not apply or anything that you have already tried.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.
